Our poor country has been constantly invaded because of its strategic location and vast valuable resources in its history. My grandfather who was an officer of Reza Shah the Great was sent to Tabriz to fight the Russians during WW2. The sad thing is Iranians were still fighting on horseback while almost 1 million Russians came with thousands of tanks and airplanes. My grandfather survived but his batallian was completely destroyed as well as the entire Persian army in the northern half of Iran.
