  • is the iphone coming or not? please someone who is an expert help? i get a new phone in november but im not sure if i should get it or wait for the iphone supposedly being sold

  • Excellent stuff bro. Very informative and fact based/driven.

  • dude why you dogging out iphone they made more money in the first quater of this year i dont even own an i phone i have android your talking out your as. dont post stuff that you dont know about your video wasnt right these carrier are not going to lose money

  • You seem to have a lot of industry knowledge however as with any business it takes more money to generate new customers than it does to maintain customers. That said, having worked in the industry for 10+ years, the carriers business model is in line with the average business. For the record, yes phones cost more then $20 ... but seeing the invoices daily, the money lost percentage-wise is substantially less than most other business.

  • iPad ftw

  • Verizon is NOT going to get the iPhone like AT&T did. Once Verizon rolls out LTE any customer will be able to activate and use iPhone on Verizon's Network because LTE is backward compatible. I personally do not like iPhone but for those who can't live without it and tired of dropped calls Verizon is the best option.

  • @brlknmz Verizon is most likely getting the iphone, At&t's contract is at its end with Apple.

  • If carriers are losing money on service, I'd like to know what the hell they're doing with my $175 p/month for a 2-year contract. These folks are posting billion dollar profits -- how much more do they want/need?

  • Talk about innovative devices... Macs are the most innovative computers - and it looks like you have a MacBook Pro. :D

  • gay

  • i love my htc hero!

  • Carriers subsidize the cost of the device upfront, but they also lock you in for a 1-2 year contract, based on the contract you sign your cost for the device varies. If you cancel your contract you pay an early termination fee, so I don't see HOW the carriers lose money. Did I miss something? Granted I was multi tasking while listening to your video. :)

  • I wouldn't use an iphone if someone gave it to me for free. Android is blowing that shinny piece of shit out of the water

  • Android is a piece of squirrel fucking piece of crap bullshit machine that has like 20 apps where as the iPhone 3GS has 160,000. go figure douchebag

  • @Smashedupcar300 keep paying for out dated tec on a peice of shit network..iphone cant even stand in droids shadow

  • @Smashedupcar300 the iphone doesnt have all those apps at and t does

the droid hasnt been out for all that long anyways

  • you guys need to open your eyes and realize that android has stolen the popularity of the pda world. in the past year came up with, the g1 ,htc my touch, driod from htc and the htc hero from sprint. Now tell me what in the hell has apple came out with beside that silly ass phone ? plus I heard htc are going to start coming out with phones that have flash player enable aka adobe for your internet browser.and believe me its not rumor because i have the htc hero n it does have flash plyer

  • lol wow u fail.. the sholes is now called the motorola droid for verizon

  • my env 3 is old now

  • Talk about the env3 being old... how about an LG 225?

  • whats that i mean its old cuz i dropped it a bunch of times and the hinges squeak when i open them

  • My LG 225 has volume buttons that barely work and it turns itself off randomly when it's plugged in.

  • I think the idea of allowing manufacturers and not carriers to compete with each other to drive the cost down is a great one. Their isn't enough competition between manufacturers, and your idea will allow that. thank you for the great idea and keep up the good work.

  • You mean its not commonly known that phones cost alot? Didnt know that

  • Every company looses money on phones on every phone they sell. The only time the don't loose money is when they sell a phone at full retail price.

  • Which is prepaid.

  • ???

  • Hey iGreenBerry I was just going through all of the comments but I found it funny that you would even think that Apple would "Stick it to them" and not give them the iPhone when its a business world, there is no hard feelings when its all about making money.

  • Really well i was leaning to get verizon until i started using my friends verizon envy and the service is horrible and i live in the part of texas were their is supposedly alot of coverage thanks for the advice appreciate it bro .

  • so many true statements all cariers have there weeknesses and stangths. go verizon for having a great network and go att for have a great phone. The key is a network verizon is heading in the right direction great 3g coverage and low drop call rate % and churn rate. there is reason for this. Verizon wireless can't make everyone happy and no wireless will ever do that. josh vzw

  • at&t will lose otu big time when they lose the iphone its just a known fact the only thing that saved at&t was the iphone they got lucky verizon skiped it but verizon is gonna blow up when they get the iphone and alot of its users that are iphone lovers will cross over to get better service

  • its a simple answer. AT&T will raise the cancelation fee = no one canceling their iphone service

  • its dont matter people are just like me i paid 350 to breat 2 phones from sprints to verizon so that wont stop people and if thats the case people will droped ti to the lowest plan and let it set i have seen that before too people get what they want bro face it even more so if they have money

  • Ya but thing is, is that the ppl who have the money to do do that are usually too cheap to do that. And AT&T doesn't care if ppl buy another phone from a different company, as long as they still get paid their share. A lot of people are going to be disappointed with the droid because it's pretty much the same as any other android phone

  • It's interesting to see how passionate people are about their carrier. Personally, I use Verizon Wireless because I prefer their network, but will admit that the iPhone is the hottest phone on the market. Keep in mind though, for anyone bashing Verizon...they have been ranked #1 wireless telecom company by consumer reports for 9 years straight.

  • Dude i've had every phone provider, i aint loyal to no one. Truthfully, i dont give a shit if the rest of the world loves verizon if someone were to ask me which carrier to go with the last company i would recommend would be a company that has treated me like shit

  • At the Fullcoll in one of my classes i have 4 classmates that have iPhones besides me and we never get this "spotty" network. I can download full songs over 3G without any problems. Shit with verizon id be lucky if i could even get to the VZW Vcast screen without the damn thing fucking out. And by the way, with verizon I had over 120 DWNloaded songs from vcast and within a 2weeks of owning them they all started to say that i didnt have the license to play them. Verizon SUCKS!!

  • dude it might just be your area but everyone that has at&t say it sucks just type in at&t sucks in you tube or google its bad verizon will rule lol

  • Your point works against verizon as well because i can type "verizon sucks" and get a lot of results.

  • And also ppl should forget about seeing the iPhone on VZW. If there is one thing that I like about Apple among other things is that I see them as a "spite" company. I can seriously see Apple doing business with all carriers cept VZW. May not be a great financial choice but I can see it happening. Then making VZW crawl to Apples knees and beg for the iPhone.

  • Verizon will have a iPhone on our 4G network. Sprint will never get it because there 4G network is not really supported (WiMax). Verizon has almost 90 million customer.

If you knew anything, you would know AT&T is rated the WORSE network in the US right now.

  • What I know is from personal experience. I've had all four carriers, and Verizon is the worst. I know this because i've payed for bad verizon service. I watched them take my money for a 2 bar average network coverage, while every other carrier has 4 bars plus in my area. And you don't know if the iPhone will go to Verizon, I explained what I wanted to happen because it is very much possible to happen. Apple owns the smartphone market, people will go anywhere they go.

  • Apple does not own it at all. RIM BlackBerry does. The iPhone is not a real "smartphone" anyway. It's a PLAY TOY that likes to crash AT&T's network.

  • RIM owns the business market, the new smartphone market is with new buyers to cellphones. They all go iPhone because its not just a brick that makes calls. And thats funny that you say the iPhone crashes AT&Ts network when Verizon doesn't need anything to make them look bad. When i had verizon towards the end when i quit i went through 4 consecutive days with no bar coverage. when i called verizon, they said oh we're sorry but theres nothing we can do. They couldn't even offer to relplace it.

  • I call BS on that. I work for Tech Support and we do replace phones. And if you are having a problem with service, we out in a trouble ticket and send someone out to check everything out to see what there is to do. We will tweak the towerto provide better service or add a new tower.

iPhone is a brick to most people on AT&T because their network is so bad in many places, WiFi is the only data they can get and calls can't go through without dropping or being broken up.

  • Whats funny is that all of the bad stuff you're saying about AT&T and the iPhone isn't true with them, but is 100% true with Verizon. And i'm telling you that my BBerry Storm had 0 bars (4days) and CUSTOMER SUPPORT DIDN'T DO SHIT. I should have explained more. I bought a shit phone BBery Storm. And I was always having problems with it, so i had previously replaced it 3 times and they didn't want to replace it a 4th time cus they would have to give me a NEW phone, and they didn't want to.

  • Verizon FUCKED over a lot of people with the BBerry storm I brought over 3 people to verizon for their "amazing network" and found it to be terrible! I got out of my contract because I could afford it, but unfortunately the other three couldn't, and one of the people is my mom.

  • BTW i have never had a single drop call on my iPhone 3GS, i have had no dropped calls on my Palm Pre (Free trial from Sprint) and 2 dropped calls on blackberry pearl flip (T-MO Free trial). On My Blackberry Storm- 6 dropped calls and like I said earlier 4 consecutive days practically without service. How the fuck are you going to tell me AT&T is worse, when it's clearly not in my case.

  • Why does everybody here think VZW is better than AT&T? I've had all four carriers and Verizon is the most expensive and has the worst coverage overall. I got no more than 2 bars wit my VZW phone while i got 4-5 bars on AT&T, Sprint, and even T-MO!!!!!! Plus AT&T is getting so many good phones.

Bold 9700, Samsung Mythic, LG Monaco, Palm Pixie, LG Georgia, HTC HERO, BBerry Gemini, BBerry Storm 2, LG Shine 2, Nokia Tresher, Samsung Scotney, and the Smasung Infinity, just to name a few.

  • Okay? Verizon is getting Palm Pre, has the Storm 2, 3 more HTC Android phones, enV Touch, Bold 2, Curve 2, and we will have out 4G network out very soon.

    how old are you? 16?

Its proven Verizon has the best network overall in the US.

  • Out of all of those phones only ONE is probably going to be exclusive and thats if they can keep the enV touch 2 exclusive

  • I had Tmobile and i ended my contract 3 months ago i hated the network anyways what do you guys recommend i had about every phone Tmobile could offer but now i would like another iphone from AT&T or Get something from Verizon ??

any suggestion are welcomed thank's everyone

  • The Droid on Verizon Wireless looks awesome. Depends on how coverage is in your area. iPhone 3GS is incredible as well, but coverage is going to depend on where you live. Are you using data heavily on your phone?

  • I would get Verizon. I had AT&T for 15 years. The iPhone has killed AT&Ts network in many places, and AT&Ts 3G network is spotty at best. With Verizon, you are for sure to have 3G service.

The Storm 2 will be released tomorrow, the Motorola Droid and HTC Droid Eris will be out the 6th.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

  • nice! youre hot ;)

  • Great info!

  • I agree with a lot of what has been said here. I definitely think Apple is moving toward being able to offer the device to whichever carrier they choose. AT&T will be fine. They were posting nearly 1 million gross adds per quarter years before the iPhone came out, so they're not falling apart any time soon. Losing exclusivity will more than likely eliminate their possibility of catching up with Verizon Wireless as far as customer base without acquiring another wireless carrier. Thoughts?

  • Yes, AT&T was posting nearly 1 million adds per quarter, but much of that was prepaid.

Lets say Verizon gets the iPhone sometime in 2010. The move away from AT&T will be slow, gradual, but consistent considering contract obligations.

With the roll out of LTE in the near future VZW will have yet another edge with the network. While VZW is rolling out LTE AT&T will still be working on their 3G roll out.

VZW has finally embraced hardware, which I believe will payoff big in the coming years.

  • I agree that AT&T doesn't have any chance of catching Verizon Wireless in the coming years, and the gap between the two will multiplied if VZW can get their hands on the iPhone. LTE is the future, and with VZW owning the lion's share of the spectrum...it is positioned to maintain it's spot. AT&T isn't going anywhere though. They are nearly twice the size of all of Verizon Communications, it will take a long time to bring that company down.

  • AT & T is not larger than Verizon; please verify your facts before posting.

  • Novaguy1968.

    HAHA, yes they are!

Verizon has almost 90 Million customers. The largest voice coverage area, and the largest 3G data coverage area.

    AT&T has 80 or 81 million,

  • Did you not interpret my post accurately? I said Verizon is bigger than At &T; the data you provided in your reply supports that--Verizon 90 million, AT & T 80 or 81 million.

  • That is the thing. Many AT&T iPhone customers WANT a iPhone on Verizon. Many Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc want the iPhone On Verizon. Why? Because Verizon has a reliable network and has the best 3G coverage.

If Verizon gets the iPhone, Verizon will see a massive growth of 10+ million customers. Not 1 or 2 million. AT&T is having so many problems with their network crashing and slow 3G speeds and spotty 3G coverage, people just stay for the phone. If Verizon gets it, it will hurt AT&T.

  • Apple is not happy that they are still handcuffed to AT&T here in the US. The iPhone is a success and would sell great on ANY network.

Speculation is the Apple/ATT&T marriage ends in 2010. We'll have to see how that plays out, but I would bet you see the iPhone on VZW sometime in 2010.

When AT&T loses its iPhone exclusive their will be in a world of hurt. At that point its going to all be about the network, which AT&T is not known for.

  • No they have the next BlackBerry Bold, and the storm 2. theyll do fine for a while longer

  • No Storm 2 for now. Verizon has it for 6+ months. And Verizon is getting the Bold 2 in December-Jan (BlackBerry Essex). The Storm 2 tomorrow, Droid and Droid Eris the 6ht of November, Omnia 2 later in the month, Curve 2, Chocolate touch, and much more.

  • Ya but a lot of those phones aren't exclusive to Verizon either. Plus my point was that AT&T is getting to Blackberry support, and where theres Blackberry support theres life in the company. And to add more, Verizon is getting a lot of phones that have bad backgrounds, like the omnia and the curve, even the chocolate was said to be just a bland phone.

  • The Droid is. AT&T doesn't have the amount of BBs we do. We have the largest selection.

Pearl Flip, Storm 1 and Storm 2, Curve, Tour, World, 8703, and now soon the Curve 2, and Essex (Bold 2). Unlike AT&T, all our BlackBerrys have 3G data. AT&T only has the Bold with 3G support.

The Omnia 2 does not have a bad background. It's one of the best Windows Mobile Smartphones by Samsung, and the 2 new HTC Android smartphones. is going to help it. Verizon will have 15 new phones by the end of 09.

  • I have seen the iDon't ad, and I think it's awesome. This is more of Google sparring with Apple than it is Verizon Sparring with Apple. Of course Verizon badges gadget commercials, but ultimately because they want to drive sales to those products. VZW + Apple just makes good business sense. I wouldn't ignore a potential 90 million customers. Would you? -Angelo

  • But if I were Apple I would think instead of goiing with a company that shot us down with the first gen iPhone and then adopts the BlackBerry Storm aka iPhone killer (not really) then adopts Android aka iPhone killer pt 2 i would really stick it to verizon by putting an iPhone with every carrier but VZW then Verizon can come crying t our knees begging us for the phone

  • Thank you for saying that! I am tired of hearing people saying "Verizon attack ad for the iPhone". Verizon has nothing to do with it. It's all Motorola and Google.

  • Envisagestudios makes some insightful comments in regards to the wireless industry, specifically VZW and AT&T. I would like to add to his comments with a point.

Although AT&T is recording record net adds, new activations, their profits have not kept up. Why? Because the vast majority of the profits from the iPhone go to Apple...not AT&T. Not only for the phone hardware, but also the data plans that are required.

  • If you've seen the new iDon't ad from verizon (droid/sholes phone ad) I'd say it's safe to assume verizon isn't getting the iphone.

  • dzierko, keep in mind, Pizza Hut makes their pizza. AT&T does not make the iPhone. It purchases the iPhone from Apple. Carriers do NOT pay the "full retail price". They do however lose money on every phone that is sold with a contract. With smartphones, that loss is multiplied. With the iPhone, AT&T pays almost exactly what they charge full retail for the device. Apple makes the profit. Period. Check out my first video which has a link to an article that agrees. Thanks for the comments!

  • great video, but dzierzko does have a point...

Carriers most likely do not pay the MSRP..

  • do you really think it costs the carrier 600$ to get the phone? Its like you thought a pizza pie cost the Pizza Hut 1399 to make

  • Verizon Wireless is requiring data plans for the new smart phones, so more than likely the Android devices will require a smart phone data plan (which are currently $30 a month).

  • are you going to need a data plan if you get the Motorola sholes?

  • Very informative!
