I only just saw this Tuesday. I knew this song was going to be pretty in French. It actually took me half the movie to realise they were saying La Siene and not Lesson. My friends kept looking at each other like: "Why do they keep saying Lesson? It doesn't make sense." Then it hit me: "DUH! They're saying La Siene not Lesson! The Siene is a river, OMG!! How did I miss that?!" Yes, it was a perfect picture of failing at life. But thank you for posting this with literal translations!

@FuneralRoses If you think you failed at that, I thought it was "listen" and then "the sun" in the bridge (thinking, "well these are some random lyrics") – the film made a lot more sense when, on coming home, I tried looking for the songs on YouTube and saw what the title is. And that's despite it being said later in the film and in the ending credits… But I did get the reference to -M-'s hairstyle! That makes up for my shocking lack of basic knowledge of the French capital, right?

@Mattscoots2012 The english version isn't a direct translation of the the french. They had to change some of the words is the english version to make it match the rhythm and so on and so forth. The film is still epic though! :)

Just saw the movie! AMAZING! Hey for all of those people who keep assuming it's the wrong lyrics. The song doesn't translate to the exact French song, it's just the English version of the song. So it won't be word by word, it's just different lyrics, so that it matches the rhythm in both version. Francoeur is the most adorable flea you'll ever see <:

Here, it's no question about "extralucide" (i.e. clairvoyant as you suggested in your translation) but of "extra-Lucille", Lucille being the name of the female singer ;) Moreover, in this secound verse, it's not anymore question about "La Seine" (which is The Seine River which flows through Paris) but instead about "la scène", that is "the scene" or "the stade" where Lucille performs her show

@bowl921 "La" isn't an English word, it translates as "the". And you're thinking of the dubbed lyrics. There's a difference between dubs and literal translations. The dub matches up with the tune of the song, therefore the words aren't going to be the exact same.

There is some mistakes in the subtitles, but there's a lot of double meanings, this song is hard to translate. I was wondering how they could do in the english version x)

It's not "Clairvoyant" (extra-lucide in French) but just "extra Lucille" it's a pun on word with lucide/ Lucile. "When you are on the scene" and not "Seine" this time (pun on ord with Seine and scène).

If you like this song you should listen to M, he's a French singer, he's doing Francoeur's voice in the movie :3

What makes this music so beautiful is that there is a lot of play on word : for exemple "son lit" meand "her bed" but it's also the place where a river lies. Well, it's very subtle and I think only a french native speaker can understand the entire meaning of that song (or someone who speaks a very good french ^^).
