ive got this card. i need to upgrade my psu. cause i only have a 500watt psu. it does have 20amp rails x2. but this guys saying you need at least 25amp rails. the card runs alright. but i dont think 500 watts is enough when running whole system and hdrives everythign else. am happy with the card. it runs everything maxed out. battlefield 3 sometimes better to run it on high not max. but you can run it on max no problems. its a very cool card. doesnt get hot at all.

I just bought the POWERCOLOR PCS++ 5870 950MHZ/1200MHZ (sold m GTX480)... and even down clocked to stock speeds it quickly over heats to 85+C...

maybe the heat sink needs reseated?? anyone got any ideas?

I got the ATI Radeon HD 5875 (1gb), pretty sure it's stock since I simply got it with the Dell Studio XPS 9100. With the specs I have, I can run Arma II: OA maxed out. It's awesome. :D

@dettwideo yep it should, but for more stability i would go for a 650watts+ psu. remember that ati only recommends the bare minimum amount of wattage/amperage required to run on a very basic system. you have to think about all of the other extra components drawing power like the fans, HDDs, etc..

I have a ATI radeon 4600 series. Do you know at all how much the temp would rise if I overclocked it by just 140-250? (140 is GPU and 250 is memory) Default is 165 (GPU) and 250 (memory) and it runs at about 35-40 C with firefox open and no manual fan control.

hi. i just installed windows 7 ultimate 32 bits but i have a problem. When I boot my computer it stays like 2 or 3 minutes in the Starting Windows screen without doing anything.. after that time windows starts normally... i have all the drivers installed so i don't know how to fix this... any ideas???? i was thinking maybe updating the BIOS to see if that helps.... thanks a lot...

Very good review. It does indeed kick ass, though admittedly the Radeon HD 5850 is better value (even more now that the Catalyst 10.3 drivers are out). A strange thing I've noticed is that AMD is increasing the prices of the Radeon HD 5850 (from $280 min. some weeks ago to $300 now) and they're decreasing the price of the HD 5830 (from $260 before to $240 now). Do you think it's because they think Nvidia is not really competing?

The fact that this card is 11" long plus the power connectors are on the back of the card meant I couldn't fit this card in my case so went with the PowerColor 5850. The 5850 is still pretty sweet when overclocked but the 5870 is a beast.

@mikey9890 Trust me the messed up in the design, they could have made the GPU run cooler, but they decided to go with it anyways with unnesseary high temps. with todays new technology of 40nm and less, we should not be near 75C anymore. Any NEW CPU or GPU in 2010 that still heats up like the GTX480 is old school technology.

To Pcwizkid Im currently having a 250gb hard drive in my PC and I just install a 1TB hard drive which I am hoping to use it as a main hard drive in the future. But after install the 1TB hard drive its has show up in the Bios menu but I cant find it in my computer menu I can only see the 250Gb hard drive as drive C:. What have I done wrong? @lefflan yes you are correct, if the GTX480 didnt get so hot , I would say its better for sure. But Nvidia needs to work on that , because at full load that GTX480 is ready to melt.
