  • Khan- Your a gift to this planet!!! Thank YOU!!!

  • thank you mr. khan for teaching detailed about exponent. Now i know how to solve a negative number with a negative exponent :)

  • I started the practice academy 2 days ago, now i'm hooked. I'm in university studying computer science i might change course to game development if i think i can do the rest of the exercises.

  • What program are you using?

  • Thankyou so much this is very helpful

  • Dude. I think you just helped me pass my final thats tmmrw that i'm barely studying for. THANKS

  • yeah man exponent rules! Khan academy rules even more!

  • Wow man nice!! this is one of your best videos

  • Thank you so much!

  • BTW I <3 UR EXPLAINNING!

  • Thank you.

  • I read somewhere that people learned this in like 6th grade! is this true? i was barley learning how to wipe in 6th grade lol.

  • @navajohnny76 Yupp we are learning this right now :D

  • I'm 12 in honors and going into algebra next year and I was just watching this because I was bored, thinking i would know everything because i got A's in math last year. BOY WAS I WRONG! He is so much better at explaining so I get everything within watching the video once. Thanks so much for doing this for free you are amazing and I've been studying off of these for a month now.

  • People you don't have to flip the reciprocal at first. If you have a negative exponent, just solve as if the exponent is positive then flip your final answer. And if your base is just a regular number to the power of a negative exponent, just solve as if the exponent is positive and put it 1 over you answer. For example 6^-2 is the same as 6^2.....6^2=36 & 6^-2=1/36

  • @KelferMookie Thanks thats really helpful! :)

  • You just saved my life for my math exam on Monday! ILY KHAN

  • Super bass...boom, boom, boom, ba, boom, ba, boom, boom, boom...I thought of Super Bass song...

  • Im working in class on graphing exponentialfunctions, and i was wondering i was using 2/3 as my f(x) # and i did the 2/3^-3 problem, but when i did 2/3^-2 it just went to a reduced fraction... What am i doing wrong?

  • Is there a difference between the following: - 3^-4 and (-3)^-4 ?

  • i dont get it

  • thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!

  • I recommend this excellent Math channel: ( Mathmatchpoint ) to everyone who wants to become good at Math. He is going to teach you Math the EASY WAY, from the basic to the advanced topics. The great thing is that his videos are categorized within playlists. It is easy to know which video to watch next. This was the least I could do for him (let others know about his videos). Thanks to him, I got 97% on my Math test.

    Go to his channel: Mathmatchpoint

Math will become easy thx to this guy

  • Sometimes math can be so counter-intuitive...

This, and logarithms, is where I completely lost track. In early high school I used to be an Ace at math, but by the end it got so complicated that i didn't even finish my last year of high school.

  • can anyone please help me with my algebra 2!!! please!!! its a online course and if i pass it i can graduate! please i need help with my algebbra 2

  • yaay!! u help me study whenever i have a test!!! seriously this is the 3rd test u'v helped me study for!! :)

  • That helped alot

  • Salman Khan has done more for math education in the past 4 years than the US public school system has done in the past 50.

  • he a ghudd teacherr

  • im soo lost

  • I've disagreed with you so far about 0.05% of the time because I've immediately seen a quicker route, but only based on what you have taught anyway.

Yes! It's true what wanomano says; I can listen to you all day long. However, 'All Work' is no good. I am so happy to have found your work.

    Hip Hip! HOORAY!

  • idk why this wasn't sinking in as quickly in high school, cause it took me maybe........40 seconds to get here, and it took that long cause i grabbed something outta the fridge lol

  • Thnx, your videos have actually helped me gain an interest in mathematics.

  • my math teacher said he wants me 2 watch this. And i get it now!

    thx Man ur awesome!!

    Mai Mai <3

  • I need to know how to do devision of exponents, lol

  • Thank you so much for sharing.

  • This guy sure beat my teachers

  • thanks

  • I love this guy's voice....he makes math sounds sexy!!

  • cool!

  • I wish my math teacher was this easy to understand

  • yea same here

  • his name is Sal

  • khan is a super hero:D

  • thx sooo much test 2maro bout this topic u helped me more than the textbook..... thank you!

  • can you do (5a)^2Xa^-1 : 5Xa^3 as an example ?:S by the way thanks. what you do helps a lot

  • Thank you, hoaaaahhhh

Math is so easy with you

  • his voice sounds so cooooool

    and so is his lessons

    thanks alot Mr.Khan

I'm getting it, now if I could retain everything I have learned from you.

  • This comment made me smile :3.

    xD

  • kkaaa! so confusing...

  • It isn´t wise to watch porn while trying to understand this awesome video.

    Level 2 Exponents > Porn

  • NICE ONE

  • Ohhhhh..... why did my teacher never say that you had to take the reciprocal? She just said "heres the answer for 1, heres the answer for 2>>"

  • "Let's do some more problems"

    hahahah :D

  • khan academy rocks

  • thank you!!

now i can do my hw.

  • nerd ur the best

  • Interesting..

  • finaaally i know how to do this...it was soooo helpfull...u re awsome!! ur explaing skills re wonderful

  • OnychaHazel...Zero raised to any negative power is "Undefined" because that would mean you're dividing by zero. You cannot divide by zero!

  • so would 0 to the -1 power equal 1/0?

  • on a calc you would get a maths error if you tried that sum-cus i just tried it.

  • lol i havent even learnt this in class yet so im totally gunna ace it thanx to you! ^.^ luv it

  • thanks this helped...saxon math doesnt explain things very well

  • I hated Saxon in school! It basically gave me math dyslexia!

  • That helped me a lot. Thanks 5/5 :).

  • Thank you so much for teaching this. It was very helpful and I feel I got it. You are a great teacher! Thanks again!!!!

  • I'm in a1 and this is helping so much, i love your tuts!!!! thank you :]

  • Thankyou!i learned it yay

  • oh my gosh thank you so much!

stuff like this makes me feel retarded

  • Thank you for posting this. Do you use a mouse or a pen to draw?

  • Thanks! Really helps me to understand :P

  • Thank you, this is starting to become clear to me.

  • could you explain why a number to a negative power is the inverse raised to that power? i've searched online, but the general message is "because that's the way it is."

  • It is a definition that is consistent with the exponent property that (x^a)*(x^b) = x^(a+b).

    2^3*2^3 =8*8 = 64 = 2^6

    2*3*2^-3 = 8*1/8 = 1 = 2^(3-3) = 2^0

You can look at the exponent property videos for more info.

  • @khanacademy

Khan, you are so so great. I am a lawyer and I have forgotten my Math Fundamentals long time ago. It's like discovering it for the first time. God bless you!

  • @khanacademy wats ur IQ?are u The next anthony stark ?

  • come teach at my schooll... lol... it's amazing if anyone actually learns anything in our math class...

  • Awsome, Helped alot considering i was sick on the day my teacher was giving me the study guide for it and i the next day they were on a field trip so i couldn't recieve it then. I hope this helps me for tommorows Quiz, Thanks a bunch. I get this O_O!
