The truth is folks that thanks to all the state wide bans on keeping exotic cats perfectly responsible owners have to give up there cats to sanctuarys. Notice how all the cougers were formur pets. Thats not due to people not being able to handle them thats do to law changes and or forced surrenders because of insurance companies refusing to insure owners. Thats the reality im almost certain thats the case for the majority of the cats. How many TRUE abuse cases does BCR find a year? No really BCR
@TheSolaceDream Only 18 states ban the private ownership of the cats, if the state were to ban the ownership and you possessed a big cat it would not be taken form you. Many of our cats are unwanted, abandoned and abused former "pets" that people cannot handle anymore or have realized what a huge mistake they have made and are looking to offload their "pet". Keeping a wild cat that normally roams hundreds of square miles in the wild locked up in a cage the size of a parking space is abuse.
I just typed in enrichment to get some ideas for the different animals I work with at the zoo and BCR was the first one on the list! I miss you guys...and love chick on the cob!!

I think this is one of the best things you do at BCR- you give the cats something to do that satisfies their instincts and needs. :)

Wow! Morgan mews like a house cat! My feline companion loves her catnip. Do you ever give the big guys catnip?
