@mgman71 this machine only requires new programming to handle other parts, a press require different costly molds and longer setup time to make other parts. Depending on numerous requirements (production numbers, time, size, etc etc) a press may be cheaper for some productions but may be more costly for others.
an invidual presstool to cut out this shape could cost more than a luxury car... not to mention laser never require sharpening :-)
another point, it took 14 sec to complete.. press migth makes it 5 second, but for what price?
to positioning that part possible some simple jig could do...
by its size it migth need a 250-350 ton press what also in the higher price category...

That would be ok for prototyping or short runs but way to slow for high production where a press can do that in one hit
