  • His feet cross during his kick which may help his rotation?

  • Great vid He blows away traditional thought w/ 2 beat kick I was always taught the importance of 6 beat for backstroke Aus in next lane has almost 90 angle on kick but Irie has more hip & less bend at knee in his kick It may just be camera angle but he also seems to sit instead of lying parallel to surface as in conventional style Gotta love his rotation and extension & how he leaps ahead w/ every stroke. Thnx 4 this clip. Gives us something to think about

  • Thanks for the upload of this clip, He must put out a good amount of power from his upper body. Granted he is a TOOTHPICK to begin with, it makes sense.

You can also tell in this clip how flexible his feet are!

  • I don't know. The kid is fast and his kick seemed a little unusual. It's what I would describe as a 4-beat kick, but most people would disagree. It seems that his kick pulses with his pull, then relaxes significantly. Galloping instead of running.

  • it's a 2-beat kick. it may seem 4 at high speed but it's only his feet coming together for balance and resistance

  • i dont get this, how does this kick specifically help? also how does he do it?
