The thing i think Silvechair have lost is the rawness. Used to be 1 Distorted Guitar, Heavy as fuck Drums, a Punchy ass Bass and his amazing voice and that was it. Nowdays it just seems like they're doing whatever the producers tell them too. Thats the main thing i miss.

@SuperMegabar You're quite wrong. Daniel is his own producer. He produces everything from half of Freak Show all the way to their recent hiatus. Albeit he wrote all of that material anyway. The fact of the matter is, the music evolved right along with him. :)

well it's all about your taste, i guess. i like the new stuff for my own reasons and yes YM is fruity.. but i like fruity music lol. some people just aren't down with it and that's fine. but people can't deny that musically it's well composed etc, so i get annoyed when they say 'it's crap' instead of 'i dont like it'.

nirvana isnt the same thing.. that's a big what-if. can't exactly speak for them. but with other bands.. it does happen. oh well. the past was better in a lot of ways.

All of Silverchair's records are great, and Young Modern is certainly no exception. It's a masterpiece, altho at the moment I favor "Freak Show" since it's got a little bit of everything. I recently learned it sounds best turned up loud on a cold day driving in a car really fast.

i support artist development completely, but even diorama still had some heavy tones in it. young modern did a complete 180 spin. i wouldnt say its horrible.. but its definitely not my favourite album.
