@hevyonez97 Trust me there was one. I don't have one but I'm just saying. lol Always kept this album on display. My mom would come in my room and put it back in with the others and I would take it right back out.
Center of the CARDIAC ARREST Album is guitarist ERIC DURHAM (StratosphericTalent.webs.com) who recorded their FIRST 3 Albums. I was 18 when my brother Eric joined "The Players" who changed their name to CAMEO in order to record, since The Ohio Players blocked the use of the original name. None of you PARTIED on this MORE THAN ME - all the after parties, backstage. Cameo opened for Parliament Funkadelic, BarKays, Brass Construction.
Ya dig my heavy drift, My drift to hip to resist,To get off on is a trip. I'm breakin' out on the floor, It feels to good to ignore, Sweats all over my face, It's a crazy place!
This is pure 100% unadulterated cameo funk! in fact its so funky, that they had to name it two times.
FUNK FUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "don't be a dead boogie, baby....." funkiest, stankin' ass track i could have ever heard when i was 5 years old......my uncle nippy(RIP) had this lp back then and i was the one who wore it the hell out, lol!!! "rigor mortis" used to always get the parties jammin' back then, too!!!
Hell they don't even make car speakers like they use to and if you do get some good ones then watch out you'll be paying out the ass . i wish they would bring back...Mind Blower Speakers two six by nine speakers with a freaking power booster switch that u can mont inside your car not the most prettiest sight but the freaking quality of these speakers not like today were u get only boo boo boo in the trunk crap. 1976...$120.00 by the end of 1982...$89.00... K-Mart in the automotive Department.lol
@OnlySoulMusicHere ....My buddy had some Mind Blowers and a power booster in a Dodge Dart back in the early 80's. That car would rock! I haven't heard someone mention Mind Blowers in ages!
George had nothing to do with this piece. This like George Duke, the ADC Band, and others just rode the Funk that George, James Brown, Sly Stone, and Jimi Hendrix helped blaze. I aint mad at none of them. This is excellent C-Funk, ya dig! It aint stepped on
hey yall its just the culture, everybody was funkin.....rick james, ohio players...but the poppin bass sound came from larry graham (god-father of slappin) of sly stone group...
whoever thumbed this down should go to the side and put on "rigor mortis" coz i think it must of set in if this dont do anything for you...thanks for posting mate
C is for "Cold", A is for Ahead their time! M is for Masterpiece! E is for Everlasting, and O is for One & Only! What an album! I loved every song on this album the first time I bought in back in 1977 OR 1978. I was in San Diego in the Navy back then and had a big boom box. Everyone on the ship kept asking me to play that song with the "ass-kicking base"! CAMEO FOREVER!!!
@RasputinNegroponte Sorry, I don't know if Geroge did produce this or not. You know George Duke came out with Dukie Stick. Well we all thought, that was Bootsy on the wax. It wasn't. Just someone that sounded like him. So, this could be Cameo just having respect for Parlament, but decided to go back to their own rules of funk. Stay funked up.
I've seen lots of groups, but none so up close and personal as this group. A stage presence that can upstage anybody. In Landover, MD.they smoked the Isley Brothers with a smoking guitar. I met them in a small DE. town. The stage show was spectacular costumes, flash pods, coffin and the entire stage fogged on cue. Didn't meet Blackmon, but the others I don't recall their names but the lead guitar and singer one of the coolest people I've ever met. Cameo very funky and even more unique.
They had one hellava stage show,I think the guitar name was Anthony Lockett.I meet Larry and Gregory in the lower level rest room at the Charlotte Colisium.
"If your tired of that same old sound, uh get up on the Cameo sound!" "It is our will to let you know we exist, so don't resist."
"We can be as funky as we want to be, and can be funkier than that!" Gregory Johnson, placing his right hand on the funk and telling the truth, the whole truth and nothin but the truth, so help you eternal funk!
dang, just realised that Warren G's annoying star trek intro on 'take a look over my shoulder' actually sampled this intro.
