There were professional soldiers/sailors who loved and defended their respective countries on both sides of the conflict. Neither side was more right than the other and remember also, that the histories are always written by the victors not the vanquished. May God in Heaven be with the souls of those who never came home to their families and Father Nations. Thank you for posting something so poignant and dramatic.
@TRBNGR666 At least their souls have a final destination for the eternity of life after death. It matters not what you call it for I am sure it is known by many cultures by many names but to each of them it is the same resting place for all who are valiant and courageous and loyal. Whether it is real or fantasy is not for you to say unless you are God Almighty. If you believe only in the here and now, then this is your Valhal, enjoy it. Greater things are in store for me once this life is over.
@1955thekeeper Why would you assume I only believe in a here and now? Do you need to be scared with the idea of a punishment "hell" in order to do whats right? Do you need to be lured with "greater things" in order to be a good altruistic cosmic energy?
I do the moral thing simply because it feels right, when one feels and acts this way...I need not worry about what the truth is. An angry...jealous...vengeful christian god...come up with by mortal men seems akward.
@1955thekeeper The universe is goverened by one absolute undeniable law....for all that is dark..there is equal amount of light. For all matter..equal amount of anti matter. So before zoroastrainism "one god religion" spawned judaism....which spawned Christianity etc.... All peoples gods represented their good and bad traits...your religion made people choose a side...which led to people believing they were more reightous than the next guy. Monotheism has truly been a cancer to altruism
