  • I followed the steps, but when i held down the buttons the first time it entered A00. whats wrong?

  • I did exactly what you did, but now m pda won't turn on. It charges, but that's about it...

  • SD IMAGE UPDATE A00

    why doesn't mind say A01?

  • CAN U PLEASE HELP ME I DID IT LIKE A DUM ASS..,I HAVE A X50V AND ITRYED THIS SO IS THERE ANY FIX ...OR CAN I REPLACE SOMETHING TO FIX IT ...PLEASE HELP ME..,,,.A.S.A.P

  • One more thing. Is their a utility upgrade for the x50 low to get WI-FI on it??

  • @badfish61063 No. Wi-Fi is built in by hardware. Not software.

  • My axim x50 is a MID running a05. I just wanted to check to see if this update will work. Im kind of new to this (just got a used one today) and im not sure what "bricked" means? Any help is much appreciated!!

  • @badfish61063 It will.

Bricked means that the devices firmware is corrupted and the device is rendered unusable.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4

Well, after the first step, I'm now with what appears to be "bricked" axim. The power+wireless+reset step is doing nothing. Any ideas?

  • @badfish61063

O.K., after doing some googleizing....I found that after the first part of the update its better to press Power+wireless and tap the reset button 2-3 times quickly and then it will go into the 2nd part of the loading sequence. It is now up and running WM5!

    Thanks for the tutorial!

  • @badfish61063 Congrats, enjoy!

Make sure to subscribe for more Axim videos!

  • Was running WM2003 A05 on my X50. POWER-WIRELSS-RESET. Ran the DiMA_B file. Tried to push POWER-WIRELESS-RESET the second time and got a black screen. Nothing has worked since then. If I plug it into a power supply the power light will glow orange but nothing else happens.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

  • @n2guns - Forgot to mention that it is an Axim X50 Mid

  • @n2guns You're not pushing the Image Update buttons correctly, or your battery is dead. Make sure you press Power and Wireless first, then press Reset, then let resrt go, and continue to hold Power and Wireless.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 Thanks for the response.

Just received this refurbished X50 from an eBay auction for $75.00 and thought it was going to be a paper weight. I had the buttons in the right order. I think it was the battery. I had charged the battery before I started. I left it connected to a USB cable (aftermarket item?) while the device was on. Later I learned the device has to be turned off for it to charge. The device connected to this cable while on actually drained the battery.

  • @n2guns Ran out of room - All is fine now. Got it running after *really* charging the battery. Thanks for the help! BTW, I actually have the Windows 5.0 disk and have update 4 other X50s from it but that just gets them to WM5 A01 where your information gets it to A02 ROM. I just wanted to try it. Thanks again!

  • @n2guns Glad it worked! Enjoy WM5! You may also want to check out my Windows Mobile 6.5 tutorial for the X50! It MUCH better in performance.

  • Axim x50 mid

  • I've followed your guide, but after rebooting the axim won't power on... Is it bricked? What's wrong? is there a way to complete the upgrade?

  • @TheAld3r What model Axim is this?

  • mines got stuck at 80% at dell logo, but when flashing got this two messeges :ram checksum 0xE8DDBB13 and crc checksum 0xE8DDBB13

  • @cobain0204 Normal. Reset the device by holding power and reset, press no on the next screen. This will cold boot the device.

  • Ok, I made it into the SD Loader now, but I had to do a different combo to enter it - POWER + RECORD + RESET to enter diagnostic menu. Once in the menu I tried POWER + WIRELESS + RESET ot enter SD loader.... Now it says SD image update A01 -but seems to be doing nothing. ???

  • @Tomxypdq It may be scanning for other files. Format your card BEFORE entering SD Image update, Format, THEN place the files on your SD Card.

  • I have a Dell Axim X50 and it is on A03 for WM2003.. Do I need to go to Rom A05 before it will allow me to do the Power+Wireless +Reset and boot off the SD card? My buttons all work but it wont boot to the SD card. Is there a way to install A05 for 2003 without the USB / Sync cable (which I dont have) ?? Thanks for the Help. .

  • can you do a 6.5 or 6.1

  • @Wee1243 I already did a 6.5. I don't intend to do a 6.1.

  • so i followed the instructions to a T, but on the last step when it starts loading it gets like 85% there and then says there was a memory error... ive tried restoring factory defaults like it says to do but same thing happens. any ideas?

  • @batvans46 There was an issue with the update, redo the update.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4

i just used my webcam to make a short clip of me explaining the problem better than i can by typing, showing you exactly what i do with it. im pretty tech savvy but not a wizard (i have a decent amount of experience flashing my own phones) so you dont have to dumb down whatever help you give me haha.

the vid is on my profile if you could please help me.

    thanks,

    carl

  • @batvans46 I Have the same issue and nooo clue how to unscrew it. Did you ever get the link to the other method?

  • Do you have to have the latest version of Windows Mobile 2003 SE? I have AO1, or do I have to upgrade to AO5?

  • Is the new file uploaded already? I broke my craddle one hour ago trying to put my axim into it =.=

  • @Sala1995 Link updated. Thanks for telling me about it.

  • Hey, I can't see the first file to upgrade WM2003 to WM5, i am on A05, but i can't see the DiMA_B file you're talking about, it says no suitable image found, can you help me or do I need to upgrade using the normal method with my craddle?

The problem with my craddle is, sometimes the axim disconnects while syncing, I don't want to brick my axim because of disconnecting while upgrading

  • @Sala1995 I thought I fixed the downloads a while ago, but as I can see, its not fixed still. Give me a second, i'll fix the links.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 Thank you very much, your efforts are appreciated very much!

  • So, If I have windows mobile 2003SE A05 Edition, I can flash my AXIM with this way???

  • @leblancopus1994 Yes. Do not do this with ANY other Axim besides the X50.

  • i was here <.<

  • hey man does it work if you have the cradle and windows 7? will it connect to the internet? and will it work for the x50s with the battery sticking out the back?

  • @Wee1243 It will work if you have the cradle.

Of course, it'll connect to the internet.

I do not know what x50's with the battery sticking out the back you are talking about.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 i cant format the sd card through the axim and stuff then when i flash it it says it cant be loaded or sumtin, and the battery sticking out is when u look at it the thin way (yours is flat) about 1/2 way down it has a bulge where the battery is, o ya it says not fat32 or whatever

  • You need to format the SD Card from your PC, into FAT32, and place the files on the ROOT of your SD Card.

  • @MrSteelyRevolution4 He's talking about an x50 with an extended battery.
