Anyone know why they no longer play the intro like this anymore? Trey doesn't throw the loops anymore in the intro it seems POST HIATUS.

I probably just have a baised toward guitar/songwriters, I think they are the key reasons for many bands success. Not saying Phish is nothing without Trey just that if I had to choose, the guy that writes the licks/riffs/songs/lyrics is probably more important. But believe me I am a true fan - went to 7 concerts this summer, probably wouldve only gone to 1 if it was only Trey.

@phishinvan In Ralston's book Between A Rock And A Hard Place (read it!) there is a couple lines of song lyrics. I wondered what song they were from, so I googled them and found out about this song. Then I looked up the live 1998 video, the CD of which he was listening to while hiking to Blue John Canyon.

Judging by the fact that my comment got, like, no thumbs up, I guess not many people have done the same.

@Froebs Trey Anastasio is the most important....writes all of the music, classic riffs, one of the top guitar players of all time....you could put any talented band around him (TAB) and he would still rock phish songs, other members can't really say that about.  HOWEVER, phish is not phish without gordon dropping bass bombs, fishman just being the man and the elder statesman holding down the keys.

@MrEaglez21 not too sure if you understand what you are saying. To me, a phan since the mid 90's, the entire band is equally important. The Dr. on keys, fish holding the beat, cactus killing the bass, and trey tying everything together. Classic "cant have one without the other." TAB doesnt even touch the heights of Phish, and I love TAB.

ya man i hear ya.. ive had this discussion many times... ultimately... with out fishman.. no one could fill in ... with treys lines and break downs... mikey paige and fishman are perfect for each other... doesnt matter if u bring it the best of the best... it wouldnt sound right... fishman is one of the best drummers alive.. esp to be able to follow the rhythmic breakdowns from the band.

This is my favorite Ghost of all time. Nice and mellow, with good full band involvement and a nice finish. Not too long and not too short. I've heard a lot of them. I feel like once they switched the song out of its 1997 mode for the album, the extended live versions started to drag a bit. This one is long enough that it has a nice jam, but is not so long that it gets boring. I can't get enough of the beginning, too, with its loops and the soft way Fish comes in with the drums to get it going.
