That's what irritates me about having this movie star Kristen Stewart; all these little teenagers that have never listened to The Runaways before in their life are going to be all "ZOMG KS I LUV THE RUNAWAYS1!" I think it's great if the movie brings in new REAL fans to the band, but honestly I doubt anyone who hasn't listened to The Runaways before is going to pick up on their music. They'll just buy the tracks that Dakota & Kristen sing & say "O YA, i <3 the runaways!"

The Runaways were more or less from 1975 to 1979. Goldie & the Gingerbreads were b4 The Runaways. but my main point was that if Joan Jett and cherie currie are almost crying because theyre so happy to make this a film then why not be happy to, if we really care that much.

Well Heart wasn't an all girl band. The Runaways may have been the first all girl rock band to make it on the charts. I honestly don't know if either Fanny or Goldie & the Gingerbreads had much commercial success. I am sure that the Runaways had more fame. But Goldie did tour with Chubby Checker, so I am guessing they had some market recognition.

No, they absolutely were not the first all-girl rock band. Look up Goldie & the Gingerbreads, the first all girl rock band to sign a record contract back in 1962. After that, and still before the Runaways, you had Fanny, also an all-girl rock back in the late 60s.

I have no idea where people got this idea that the Runaways were the first all-girl rock group but it is simply not true. They were more famous than Goldie or Fanny, but they were certainly not the first.
