  • I grew up there, been in BC long enough to miss it, (18 years).....I miss the t-shirts and trucker hats with the fake bird shit that say ' damn seagulls'

  • Flin Flon boy myself now. The rail service is actually closed down now (passenger rail) and in an ironic twist, the passenger rail station has become the Flin Flon Station Museum. And Flinty? He's off that hill now, and right beside the Museum, where you can learn more on the history of the city. I even worked a couple summers at that Museum.

  • The siren at the end always made me think Flin Flon was suddenly having a disaster--air raid, fire, or something.

  • still living in FF and as of a few weeks ago north main shaft is no longer standing

  • Just hearing him say the words "Flin Flon. Flin Flon???" is like OMG I'M 6 YEARS OLD AGAIN!!!!!!!

  • My Scottish Granny moved there and man it was cold! Will always remember fishing at her cabin in Bakers Narrows.

  • More like six thousand people, nowadays...

  • I LOVE these vignettes!!

  • Yes!

  • Damn. Havn't seen this in years.

  • The first minute of this commercial always tripped me the fuck out as a child

  • Beautifull

  • I knew that spot looked familiar! Thanks!

  • I used to live in Flin Flon (actually in nearby Denare Beach, Sask.)- I'm thinking that the intro and the end of the film was shot somewhere near the area of Third Avenue/ Callinan Lane. Creighton is across the border in Saskatchewan. Only the South Main Shaft separated the two municipalities (as I type this I read e-mail from friends the South Main Shaft was detonated the morning of July 27, 2009).

  • You nailed the spot. I lived on Third ave. This is shot just above the Church on 3rd ave. Top of the hill there is a staircase leading down to the street shown in video. They took the shot from the top of the stairs.

  • awesome i remember that siren at noon and the old pics of main street ..very cool vid

  • I am 23 years old and I remember this video clear as day I stumbled upon it while looking for a canadian short with singing miners...but I can't seem to find it but found this gem :) Thank you for posting!

  • search for the logdriver !!!

  • You're looking for "Men of the Deeps, Cape Breton." :) It's a Vignette I haven't seen online, but you can get it for purchase from the NFB site.

  • Lots of memories...hear the old shift change siren at the end!

  • AWESOME!!! Why, you may ask? Total memory high!
