  • She has way too much movement in her upper body - fore-and-aft. This will cause the hull to porpoise in the water, which is a huge waste of energy. You should focus on a vertical as possible upper body rotating around your core. This will result in much more efficiency with regard to propelling the hull in a strait line. I'm not Tahitian, but I've got hundreds of hours in marathon canoe racing, and no offense, there are thousands of of female paddlers who are much better than this woman.

  • I am Tahitian and what she said here is exactly, what we do, this is exactly how we do it! Thanks to you KJ for helping non Tahitians, to understand, that you can be a great paddler even if you are not Tahitian! This woman is one of the best paddler of the world, and she is right! you must think of each movement you do, if you want the next better! what is important is not to paddle, this is the way you do it! yes! an athlete can i have a big brain too!

  • In SIMPLE terms - If you PULL with your BOTTOM ARM first BEFORE sitting up with the follow through - you're doing an Arm's race ! -- better to use your TOP ARM Lat and Back - absolutely correct explanation by KJ but may be too technical for some people

  • Everything she is demontrating is wrong. Leaning too much is pushing the waka up and down. I cannot believe she is giving a seminar on how to paddle, the best way for a demo is on the water. Tahitians are the best they don't need all that crap talk
