@KanjiLollyLuvsMakeup Yes, but the cap keeps your hair out of your face and less chlorine damage. best of all it keeps stray hairs out of the pool - nothing sucks like getting a strand of somebody's hair tangled in your fingers while your swimming! :P
I actually usually wet my hair before I put it on so less chlorine gets absorbed.
I just joined my local swim team so I have a few questions. Is there a particular reason you start at the back of your neck vs your forehead? Also when I put my cap on the back of it curls up and I'm not sure why, any ideas on how to fix this? Also is there a reason they aren't completely smooth that there are wrinkles at the top of the cap?
@Lacostelp I just find it easier for me personally to start at the back. When I start in front it always slips off my forehead whereas in the back it mostly stays put. If you don't like wrinkles on top you can get a dome-shaped cap. They wrinkle much less because it matches the shape of your head more! And as far as the curling up in back, you may need to pull it farther down over your forehead and not so low on your neck. :)
@ilikeflatbuns357 I prefer mine to cover my ears, personally. But not far enough down that I can't hear and get water trapped in there. I think it's just personal preference but in a race it might fall off if it's too high up! :)
@zoebrisk not to put it on, but if you're actually swimming I suggest wetting your hair first with non-chlorine water, just to minimize hair damage. :-) lol
Do you have to cover your ear?

What's the point of wearing a swim cap?
HuskerIsNumberOne 3 months ago
@HuskerIsNumberOne
1.) Keeps hairs from getting in the pool (gross)
2.) Keeps your hair out of your face
3.) If you swim in a chlorinated pool it protects your hair much better from the chlorine. Not 100%, but better.
4.) In some cases, to keep body heat form escaping (usually open water swims)
5.) As a marker in open water swimming so people can see you.

@HuskerIsNumberOne and also it reduces drag. Especially good in races where every hundredth of a second counts. :)

@questions117 Okay, but couldn't you wear your hair in a ponytail and leave it at that?

amazing video, excellent explanation ! Help me a lot ! thanks ! Do you prefer silicon or latex ?
bizarrasp 10 months ago
@bizarrasp I like silicone WAYYYY better - latex rips my hair. Some people have trouble with it slipping off their heads though.
