this happened to my friends ps2 2 days ago and we fixedx it. you need to open tour ps2 and then open the cover from the disk tray then you take out the disk tray and put it back in and the whit gears on the bottom left of the disk tray need to be tinkered with

I think there's an internal short circuit making the eject motor get obscene amounts of voltage/amperage. That's my only guess. I've NEVER seen that on a PS2 before.

Actually, i think its a blown resister, or microswitch. I can attempt a repair if you want. Ive taken apart several disc drives, and 2 PS2s, so i know how the mechanism works. Was the tray still pushing against your force? if so, then it might me a microswitch.
