My favourite part was always when they call him "Eburubedike" and the flute afterwards.....Love the smile on his face, it almost reaffirms the name...Soooo want to marry an ibo man....:)
Isn't Okwonkwo suppose to be a pitiless warrior? I do not get the impression from this movie, his character seems so weak. Especially when you compare him to Cele in the Shaka TV series.
I loved the book. We studied it at school in Trinidad and I read it again as an adult, it's one of my favourite books. I didnt know a movie had been made. Thanks for posting!
Remember this movie was done back in 1985 when Nigeria movie industry were just getting started. now it's bigger and better, they are the third movie production country in the world .Apart from the U.S AND INDIAN
That particular scene demonstrates, not just a cherished Igbo culture, but a typical African culture where obidence and respect to parents, teachers and indeed elders are the core aspects that denote a well trained child.
A character that models a child into adulthood and is seen in that child's words. actions and deeds.
I am very shocked at comments post on these videos!!!! Things fall apart is work that took a genius to assembly. If you are smart enough to read the book, you would have a greater appreciation for Professor Chinua Achebe's book, "Things Fall Apart". SHOW YOUR LOVE!!!!
Pete is really one great actor of all time. His role in "Things Fall Apart" will remain the greatest and most cherished of his acting career, Thanks for your contribution.

See, that is what we Africans call respect for your elders.. We need to practice this here in America with our distant cousins "black-Americans'
KrazyK823 2 years ago
That's how Africans are taught RESPECT, see the way Okonkwo's Mum set him straight @ 7:05 and asked that he APOLIGISE to his father..eh?
