la musica de conjunto, tejana, tex mex. es una mezcla de la musica ranchera de mexico, mas la incursion del acordeon llegado de alemania a texas. en conjunto la musica ranchera solo tarola y bajo sexto + acordeon = conjunto music la musica norteña tambien es influenciada por el acordeon que no se conocia en mexico, el acordeon llego a mexico de texas- ahora recuerden que texas era parte de mexico hasta q el pendejo de santa ana lo perdio.

Up in central Texas there were more Germans and Bohemias so they learned the polkas an other fast rithems. The dudes from Monterrey learned polkas polkas as well, but used the misic box to play revolution corridos and balads that were brought by the French. Then the box made it south to the Linares and Montemorelos were migrant farm workers came from the Huasteca to pick oranges. There they incorporated the accordion to play huapangos. Somehow all meat in the Valley and it all came together.

OK Aficionados this is how it all happend. People form the other side of the pond brought the acordion to both Central Texas and the Monterrey area probably at the same time. They also brought with them beer. After they finishing their workday, they would gather with the local dudes that spoke spanish and played their music box they brought form their home country. The spanish speaking dudes were smart and learned to paly the box quick.

Don Narciso Martinez, sin duda fue el padre de la musica conjunto. Nacio en Reynosa Tamps. En 1928 era considerado el mejor acordeonista en su clase.No pudo sobrevivir solo de la musica,por lo cual tuvo diferentes trabajos, el ultimo del cual se jubilo en1977 fue en el Zoo de brownsville Tx. Domino polkas,redovas,huapangos,choti­z,valses,boleros,danzones,entr­emuchos otros.En 1982 fue inducido al Salon de la Fama,[conjunto].Grabo con Polski Kwartet de Lousiana. Murio en 1992 a causa de leucemia.

@krazyfamily88 En el museo de historia en la ciudad de Monterrey N.L. hay un acordeon antiguo de una hilera de botones que data del año 1900, ademas en el libro del maestro Juan Alanis Tamez: Santiago, Nuevo Leon "Un Barrio lleno de musica" viene una fotografia de la Villa de Santiago Nuevo Leon en donde viene retratada una familia del pueblo en donde esta un muchacho con un acordeon de una hilera y la fotografia esta fechada del año 1886 La Universidad de Nuevo Leon lo tiene digitalizado.

Al menos en Monterrey y los alrededores de Nuevo Leon el acordeon se comenzo hacerse popular en las rancherias en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, ya que el acordeon llego con los regimientos austro-hungaros, mercenarios europeos que llegaron a nuestra ciudad.

Don patricio Jimenez comenzo a tocar acordeon en 1900.Don Santiago Jimenez comenzo a grabar en 1938. El era el papa de Flaco jimenez.Don Antonio Tanguma compuso su primera pieza [ de china a bravo] en 1938 sin grabar disco hasta mucho tiempo despues. indudablemente , el acordeon se hizo popular primero en Texas que en Mexico. Claro que Don Antonio fue de los pioneros en Mexico, pero este movimiento comenzo en Texas.''Ojo''' estoy hablando del acordeon , no de generos. Saludos y gracias.

@krazyfamily88 No se puede aseverar que el acordeon se hizo indudablemente popular primer en Tejas, usted menciona a don Patricio Jimenes, pero en Nuevo Leon tambien hubo varios acordeonistas antes que don Antonio Tanguma por ejemplo don Jesus Villarreal de Teran fue acordeonista cerca del año de 1898, tambien el papa de don Eugenio Abrego de los Alegres tambien comenzo en 1900.

@krazyfamily88 Don Antonio Tanguma comenzo a tocar el acordeon en 1908 en Montemorelos NL. tal y como el lo dice en una entrevista, ademas si grabó en 1937 en Monterrey cuando llego a la estacion de radio XEH de don Constantino de Tarnava hizo sus primeras grabaciones en 1937 y 38 en acetatos grabados por aparatos RCA Victor, pueden escuchar los samples bajo el nombre TRIO NUEVO LEON en la pagina de Frontera Collection canciones como: Echatelas pal alto, Cadena, Se me canso el caballo, etc

@ALFREDONL si pero claro por que las companias disqueras en Mexico no querian a la musica de acordeon, asi que se fueron para EE.UU. ademas si te fijas aunque suenan identicos, a la vez el conjunto norteno tiene un sonido mas ranchero o rural que el conjunto texano. pero nacio aqui en el estado.

@FranciscoJavier242 Tienes toda la razon amigo, en Mexico las compañias disqueras de aquellos tiempos no les interesaba la musica norteña por ser considerada de "bajo nivel" por lo cual basicamente no era promocionado este genero, sin embargo para 1936 en Monterrey donde ya se conocia la musica de ACORDEON y GUITARRAS don Constantino de Tarnava incluyo en sus programaciones de radio al TRIO NUEVO LEON (Antonio Tanguma) y a los Montañeses del Alamo.

i beg to completely disagree with valerio longoria at 0:36 maybe tex-mex didn't know what was happening in mexico but Antonio Tanguma from china nuevo leon had already recorded "la evangelina, china a bravo, el cerro de la silla" and so many others polkas, redovas and chotises with nothing but his accordion.

I think we err by trying to create a separation between Mexico and Texas, in particular, and Mexico and the entire South West, in general. The fact is: the migration of people , ideas, culture, etc., between Mexico and the American Southwest has historically occurred. Thus, what we have come to know as conjunto/tex-mex/norteno originated from both sides of the border. I think Los Texmanics clearly understood this when they titled their recent  album Borders y Bailes. Longoria was hella wrong

I call BS on Valerio Longoria's comment about Mexico not knowing accordion back in the days. Just an FYI history has it wrong Don Narciso Martinez was born in El Esterito NL, Mexico. His parents migrated to Reynosa, Tamaulipas for a better living then to eventually migrating to the Southern Valley of Texas. Don Narciso was already playing the accordion by the time his parents moved to Reynosa and Texas. The Donenos are also from nearby Los Ramones NL Mexico. It all started in Mexico........

@ConjuntoTejano They say accordion started under influnce of german immigrants, you know, around San anton. But anyway, many of the great accordionists were born in Mexico an some others in Texas, like Paulino Bernal. But we are the same, I am from La Feria, Tx. but with proud roots in N.L.

I just want to clarify that the accordion arrived in northern Mexico in the mid-nineteenth century by Bohemian immigrants and Austro-Hungarian mercenaries who arrived in the War of French Intervention. (For example they came to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon) the Conjunto -norteño is the same age that conjunto-tejano, are sisters

@ConjuntoTejano Narciso Martinez conjunto tejano's father was born in 1911 and began in 1927 in Texas, and Antonio Tanguma the father of conjunto norteño born in 1903 and began in 1914 in Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon. Viva el acordeon!! on both sides of the border. Recommend reading the book "THE TEXAN-MEXICAN CONJUNTO" by Mr Manuel Peña of the University of Austin, on pages 35, 36, 37, 38
