  • Some comment on a video of "P.S. I LOve You" (The Beatles, 1.963) argue that the beatle song that Paul write was inspired in this song Soldier Boy. I had heard the song and I disagree.

  • WHOAH!!!!! tell me why i found a cassette in my chior teachers office that had this song on it... i wanted to see if this was like the crank that soulja boy by soulja boy tell 'em of the 60's... turns out its not :/

  • i did this song for my recitle dance..

  • My junior high school secrete gay crush was in full swing in 1961-1962 when this song was a hit. I loved Mike S. so much but he never knew it and probably best he did not. Well I found out Mike S is dead now and I don't know when he died, but song from that past make his memory alive.

    RIP Mike S.

  • "Our Canadian troops are home, glad you American's are coming home now as well" This war on terrorists sucks..I prefer the days of the coldwar when our enemy was the "Reds"

  • When this song came out I was playing Jody for all those young boys drafted in the early sixties but payback came when they got me in 68. I had met the love of my life B.B but being gone two put an end to that.

  • Song was still very popular in 64. Remember shedding a few tears into a lot of beers listening to this. Dang sure was homesick at that time. Lackland AFB 1964, lots of lonely "soldier boys".

  • its sounds better than the original,i remember cruising in my 64 chevy malibu playing my 8 track in the back roads.

  • @TheMannix7 ( :

  • Love this song, but I totally forgot about it until it showed up on the reccomended videos on the side bar. My soldier boy comes home very very soon <3 I can't wait to listen to this song with him and dance with him :)

  • Thanks for posting this song. Always been my favorite Shirelles song!

  • Its nice to know that over 40 years later, a song like this still touches hearts. My husband was deployed in Iraq (2008-2009) while I was pregnant. I would play this song all the time and think of how lucky I was to be with him. They don't make music like this anymore.

  • @lorrainesvw me too. mine is 43 years and I still thank my lucky stars that Bobby came home to me and our baby girl. x

  • I have always luvd dis song I was 12 and singin it to mama cause she luv her oldies

  • i was only a kid when this song came out but back then I imagined that they were singing to me. i decided later not to be a soldier but a sailor on the high seas.

  • Cam'ron and Vado - Soulja

  • this is not the original recording.

  • @culgye1 Digitally remastered.

  • @tommy194070 I LIKE IT

  • @culgye1 Good ear my friend, it sounds as if this was recorded again, after Shirley left the group.

  • I fell in love to this song, and he happened to be in the Australian Army. 35 yrs later i still think of him and wot happened to him over the years and hope he found that someone special

  • Praise all our soldier's

  • This was "our song" in the 60's. My boyfriend was in the Air Force and I was in college. We got married in 1965 and he is the love of my life. I know that this is the story of many.

  • @histepper1965 I only wish I can have such a romantic story to tell someday :)

  • @VintageTeenQueen i was watching a show on tv, "millionaire matchmaker" i think" and someone said something that really struck me. "i pray not that love comes into my life but that i will be ready when it does."

  • my great grandfather was a soldier in ww2. my great grandmother waited for him. My siblings and i preformed this song for them on their 50 yr annaversery. gpa passed away in 07. this song reminds me of him.

  • At 15 my 18 year oldboy friend joined the U.S. Army in 1962. When he came home in 1965, we got married. He's still the love of my life. This song certainly brings back sweet memories.

  • @ceswoverland Wish you all the best (:

  • @DasFremde trouble is youi're judging by todays standards, at 15 a girl back then would be totally in love and not thinking of sex, and a 18 year old boy would have total respect for her, they married 3 years later when she was 18 herself and are still in love today, that says it all to me,wish times hadn't changed.

  • @ceswoverland Hooah your an awesome woman for staying with him

  • @Evilstewie831 Thank you, but it was just the way it was. Wouldn't change a thing. He was worth not dating in high school. He was worth missing proms. He was a really good guy. Loved by anyone who knew him. He lost a battle with cancer in '08. He is still my only one. So this time, he waits for me. I will get there. BTW he was known for his humor and his character. Believe me. He was one.

  • @ceswoverland

All women should have such a story to tell. Most do not.

  • @ceswoverland I didn't wait...will always wonder...

  • @ceswoverland Thank God he was lucky enough to survive the Viet Nam War. It was a terrible thing.

  • One of my favorite songs - came out 7 years before I was born but thanks to my parents I was introduced to this kind of music in my home.

  • one of my fav songs of all time!! Def Underated

  • I have this recording on an album produced by a local radio station in the 60's. Love this song.
