Oh my god shawn has passed away ? im so hurt ...i loved him.. he was a true angel from heaven and I guess it would be proper to say hes back home in heaven singing for us here in the physical "I love you shawn and always will eternaly ...we laughed like crazy people when we were together ...so free.....sing boy...sing...sing in heaven!!!!! all the best from me Gerideau......
Shawn gave me his last copy of Seclusion on Vinyl in 1987, we met then and then again in 1998 when Shawn had just gotten back from the UK. I was DJing at the Pendulum Club in SF, Shawn walked in and I put this track on. He was blown away that I still had it and that I was DJing! We were together for the next 10 years. Shawn has one of the most beautiful sincere voices I've ever heard. He's brought friends to tears singing 'happy birthday' I love him so much and miss him every day.
OMG! i am so so sad to hear that Shawn has passed away!!!! we met back in the days in San Francisco!!!!
then again in London!!! loved his music!!! he was a very kind and handsome man with a beautiful soul...RIP Shawn, thank U for the memories, Sylvain Xxx
SHAWN DID GUEST VOCALS ON A TRACK CALLED "CHECK THIS OUT, BY MADD AFRICAN" (ITS HERE ON YOU TUBE) AND EVEN THOUGH THE TRACK IS 15 YRS OLD IT SOUNDS JUST AS FRESH AS IT DID THEN, GREAT GUY.... MUCH MISSED!
Shawn Benson was a great person and great friend,he will be in my heart .He is part of my life.We worked in a casino. We sometimes used to sing together ("Yesterday" from the Beatles song). He was a happy person.I'm very proud to have been his friend I will never forget him.I miss him.
@Douggiie . I know, I have seen pics of him in the book Tribal Rites by David Diebold. He was ripped too. (muscular). He was mentioned as an up and coming star. There was minimal HI-NRG played in the NYC area after ~1986. The song is a bit remniscent of Blue Moderne's "No use to borrow" (not sure of the title but it was produced by ISH.)
I loved this song and have not heard it since the 80's. WOW he was your uncle.... Love this and sorry for your loss. Keep is name alive..I danced to this at backstreet with another 1000 fags, we love it..
It's good to know there are others who are fans of HiNRG dance music. As was reading the comments about Mr. Benson, I didn't know he moved on to a better place--Hi NRG heaven. Thanks for posting this song.
Hi blluva! Thanks for contact! Wish I knew of places where the best music is still played. Bromptons in Earls Court was the last place I knew of. I too, have to rely on hearing these wonderful HiNRG tracks on Youtube. Glad you approve of the "best music ever!" NRG rules. P.S. "Seclusion" remains the Very Best Of All!!!!!
I had the pleasure to know and work with your uncle, and he was a wonderful sweet person, we are going to miss him a lot. our prayers are with him and your family. :(
@brandiabdulm - So sorry to hear that he passed away ... It's nice that he'll be remembered through great music such as this ... thoughts and prayers ...

Anyone know what year this was out? I assume it was ~1987-88. Great vocal and arrangement.

@weezerz , it was 1985-86, I have this on vinyl too. The dance floor would get packed when it came on. It was huge! I wish he was still with us....

Amazing Track. Two Brewers Pub, Clapham South, early 80's. Poppers and Sleaze! Hi-NRG dance perfection.
