  • YOu forgot to mention that it's a good idea to cut the string to length first, rather than have a lot of excess windings on the tuning pegs, which can often lead to pitch problems and keeping the string on the winder itself.

Also, it's far better to change strings one at a time as this keeps the tension on the neck and maintains the 'feel' of the instrument, which can sometimes be lost if you change all the strings at once.

  • this guy may ot use the technical terms but fuck me he can play. watch the slapping and poping lesson. ownage

  • To all the people complaining about the ley terms this guy is using: think about it, the title of the video contains the word "Beginner". If he were to use technical terms, do you think the beginners would have any idea what he is talking about? Sure he could have done better, but the video serves its purpose.

  • Wow!!! Expertvillage actually made a video lasting more than 2min :P

  • they should bring Phoenix(from Linkin Park) as an expert;)

  • @Bianca97LP omg. linkin park is one of the most untalented bands around. ive played with some people who sucked, but how those guys made it bigtime, i have no idea!

  • "the first...the first little thing right here" 3:32 ...

  • oh my god... seriously... as a teacher you should speak like you know what you're doing.

"The biggest string you can find" "turn it KINDA clockwise"

  • press 0:07 a lot of times, it's sooooooooooooo funny

  • Ha 1:50 - 1:56 thats what she said xD

  • this guy makes me feel like a GREAT bass player! I love him. BTW those certain little tools usually only work on regular guitars!

  • the dude likes to knob the g string clockwise!!

  • ha , g string

  • Im I the only person who giggled at his last name?..........Chamblee : D

  • @SpunkMitchell i tought his name was ughnunah...

  • lol the fact is peopl learning guitar may not kno what that is. so dumbing it down as much as possible makes it easier for others to learn

  • where do they find their... "experts"?

  • @brooklynstudio drug dens maybe?

  • notice how to the subtitles are blocking me from the view of him actually stringing the bass. Fuck you expert village. You have failed me once again.

  • is it me or does this guy look like spencer praitt?

  • faaaaaaaaaaaag

    fagfagidifagfag

  • except that you changed all the strings at once like an idiot.

  • expert village has 138,797 videos !

    what are they,nuts?

  • Do this and ruin your bass. Never put your strings on in this order. Not first the E and then the A. First the E then the G Then the D Then the A. Otherwise you will ruin your neck

  • at like 0:36-0:45 THATS WHAT SHE SAID!!

  • Epic fail, Your strings are twisted right now, it will break twice as fast.

  • 0:36 thats what she said

  • funny thing is hes actually a pretty good bass player

  • well, everybody who knows how to change strings, doesn't change all strings at once

  • guys he want to help us i you hate him dont see the video lol !!!

  • nice little thing

  • its kinda tricky sometimes

  • i wanna slap your g string

  • bull shit!

  • OMG, little thingy? biggest string?

  • ok this is nonsene

    lol

"grab the biggest string you can find"

    ahaha

  • wahaahhaha!!

    even a newbie knew dat!

  • whats the cheapest 4 string bass guitar i can get and a good one not a cheap cheap one where it will break a week after i buy it :P

  • @gryphster2 I'm not sure if it's the cheapest, but I bought a squier jazz bass for about $200 I've had it for almost a year and it's fallen many times without breaking.

  • I'll turn his knob counterclock wise....lol , this guy is a douchebag, lol

  • ok i got mine for christmas and it has the original strings still nut they have a thred on the both sides is it important to have??

  • funniest video on youtube, this just made my day

  • pointless.

  • its not wise to remove all the strings at one time if your replacing all the strings.

  • why?

  • because it can really make your truss rod in the fret board bend and go all over the place. because the strings kinda hold the neck in place with the tension. and if you just cut all the strings your fret board will just bend and curve. thats why i do it 1-2 strings at a time.

  • Make sense, thanks for the tip :)

  • anytime. this dalton guy has no fucking clue what hes doing...

  • hes a really good bass player...type in fatback circus and hear theeir song called dustbowl blues....hes is really good...i think hes high when he does these video

  • you cant play the "high" card every time someone sucks at at something or messes it up. its not his fault someone didn't teach how to properly change strings. i did that for like 2 years till i figured out what was going on.

  • mabye he is high you never know...but otherwise.....

  • he can grab my g-string any time........

  • Expertvillage is cheap

  • I like how he describes the tuning post as a "little thingy".

........this is EXACTLY why nobody watches Expert Village.

  • yea their calling themselves experts but they dont even know what the guitar/bass parts are called

  • expertvillage should change there name to failblog

  • @Asgard222 then why are you watching it plus not every1 thinks its rubbish

  • @Asgard222 I think it's watched more for the lols.

  • @Asgard222 noobvillage, I suppose?

  • lol G-string

  • Its a smal string, the g-string.

    haha

  • whats on his arm o.O

  • Probably a Colantotte. It has these magnets that makes people healthier apparantly. I have one but I don't think it works properly though.

  • what the f! DONT LISTEN TO THIS GUY! The one hes doing is really not good for the bass, you will wreck you bridge, you will wreck your neck, and you will wreck your headstocks! let the strings adjust by itself! you just need to be patient until its steady enough! fuck this guy!

  • Um.... theres a few problems ive seen with this.. first of all he didnt show how to cut the strings to the length they need to be to put them into the tuners. second of all wrappin the tuners around is bad for the strings..it stretches them at the point that they are wrapped which makes them more likely to break at the tuner. i know it happened to me once. thirdly, he didnt say that the string needs to go over the bridge. forth, he didnt say anything about where in the nut to put the string.

  • There's something about this guy... he sounds like he always has a blocked nose or something.

  • true, but kinda like this voice. oO

  • nice 'smith shirt

  • CHIP MUNK WOOOOOOOOOP

  • zzz noob lor

  • This is going to miss lead a lot of people, you have to cut your string to the proper length on most bass's.

  • what if your a left hander would it jsut be the other way round becoz i find it easier to hold it round the other way

  • You can get left hander guitars/basses

  • mm.. very bad,,, the first string to be stringed is must be the G, because it has the lower tension and the neck is empty... how can this guy make money doing this vids? its disrespectfull for all the unemployed people jaja...

  • Yeah I've been playing bass for 6 months and I could make a string changing tutorial 5 times better then this, this guy sucks.

  • Go on then...

  • doesn't taming off all you're strings at once kinda create a like 'settle of the body and neck? or something i heard.

  • i heard the same thing

  • it be good if he could teach different tunings

i need to know how to tighten the action, anyone got a good vid?

  • Don't cut off all your strings at once, one at a time, cut one, replace one, etc. Because the neck of your bass is used to the tension of the strings, - if you cut them all at once the neck will not be used to the new strings & will take a while to break in & could warp the neck.

  • Thanks so much! I started playing bass last year and I just got around to changing my strings. Saved me a lot of trouble!

  • yes very good but you're not turning it counter clock wise dillhole

  • fuck off

  • yes he is asshole

  • lol i did that around 2 years ago and the string snaped cut my finger

  • Yeesh... so much hate. What gives bro?

  • He said "and today we're gonna be tuning the bass" lol.

  • You shouldnt cut off all ur strings at once, one at a time like cut 1, replace. one cut, one replace one ect. because then the neck of ur bass is use to the tention of the strings but if you cut them all at once the neck will not be use to the new strings and will take a while to break in. (Same with a guitar for all u guitarist)

  • i hate this guy

  • The D string is not the third string, it's the second, you got it all backwards.

  • dude do u even play bass? he's actually got the strings roght e,a,d,g don't know y I marked ur comment good

  • Yes I do play bass, The G string is the 1st string, and so on. I was pointing out he called the D string the 3rd string, when it is the 2nd, considering the strings are counted from highest to lowest.

  • But he was still putting the strings on from lowest to highest so when he said the D string it was the d string and he put it on third after the other two, E and A.

  • no, he numbered the strings wrong. SketchRazor is right.

  • From left to right the strings go E A D G.

  • wow ya its eadg

  • Ugh, it's really quite simple. Go read a bass book or something.. You'll see that the strings are numbered from G string down. GDAE.

Even though it's not left to right as most things are, that's how it is. Now stop scuffling over it.

  • the order by pitch i beleive from highest to lowest

  • lol G STRING LOL

  • omg i laughed so hard

  • anyone no what bass that is?

I can see Fender but anyone no what model in spcifik?

  • Earlier models were called P Bass Lyte, now renamed Zone Bass

  • this guys gotta bad ass style, not to mention bass.

your in a punk-alt.rock band right bro?

  • well that was a waste of time!

  • this would be better if it was a chick....

  • Find the groove in the nut.

  • OMG why everyone in youtube always CUT ALL OF THE STRINGS OFF? its good to have considerable amount of string stress so that YOUR BASS NECK DONT BEND! always change your strings 1 by 1!!!!

  • Exactly!

  • Anyone know what that thing you put the D and G string under is for?

  • so that your headstock pins, its to tidy it up and so the pins have proper stress to be tuned...

  • Oh okay thanks.

  • i'll tune YOUR bass ;)

  • thats not counterclockwise that clockwsie

just wanted to point that out

  • actually it is counter clockwise

  • OR IS IT?

  • NO ITS COUNTER CLOCKWISE...

  • OR IS IT?

  • NO ITS COUNTER CLOCKWISE...

  • Yeah its counter clockwise

  • aw man

    he shoulda showed some stretching

    stretching guitar strings sucks

streching big ol bass strings out must be a bitch!!!

  • thanks really helpful

  • lol g string

  • your really not suposed to take all the strings off at once. Its bad for the bass.

  • i don't know where you got that information from but it's wrong.

  • we are not retarded

  • "First E string goes in the first...little thing right here" haha

  • erm those thingys are called machineheads lol just thought ide tell him

  • knobs, tuning gears, machine heads, same thing

  • its wrong dude... you have to change your strings one by one..

  • why do you have to? this video would get pretty monotonous if you had to watch him replace each string one by one.

  • its easier on the neck

  • haha..."G-string". thats funny to me.

  • haha

he makes funny noise at 1:11

  • For one, he is A KID. #2 Unless someone took them off, they are on there. They come fromt he factory with the strings already attached. #3, why would you want to buy a bass with no strings anyhow?

Where do you get this info?

  • umm, are u arguing with urself?

  • umm, are u arguing with urself? "

nah, I was answering someone who madae a comment like "for one, he's not a kid. and for two, sometimes wen u buys a bass, the strings will not be on there. "

I put my post in the wrong box

  • oh ok. silly me. well im gonna go rape some gorth demons. farewell.

  • Ther is all kinds of strings. If you buy a bass with no strings you can save money. I know 2 pro bassists and im a current bassis myself. take it from me ;)

  • "...for one, he's not a kid. and for two, sometimes wen u buys a bass, the strings will not be on there...."

    Brilliant!

  • ditch the stupid hat, dood!

  • "expert" village?

    expert my ass

  • why are all of the stings off on his guitar? doesn't that warp the neck???

  • so he can show you how to string it fool :D

  • Hokay... let me say, I can do this blindfolded and upside down. I do it four times a month, once for each bass... that's not counting when some other idiot can't do it and I have to do it for them. he has as good a way as anyone else, aside from not knowing what a tuning head is called... lol, I didn't know when I started eight years ago, shit.

  • Three comments from archowlfan44...I just can't figure out which is the dumbest!

  • I WOULDN'T recomend taking all the strings off the neck like this kid did.Change them one at a time. Also, always be aware of the pitch while you're tightening it.

  • should show how to string in a through bridge bass also..

  • not a "real" bass?....fender makes a good bass!

  • look up a bank like hank williams or johnny cash and look at there bass players they got real basses

  • It's actually not very tricky...hes just a tard

  • good job with this video. Its very helpful!

  • kinda sounds and looks like paul the intern on mtv canada

  • Dude, tell people which way they have to wrap it around. Most beginners

break the string for winding the wrong way plus the biggest string one may find (not all people play 4s) can be a B and the smallest a C (then again you have 7,8,9 string basses etc)Please also explain that not all basses have the string through body option like yours. Also, make sure you know all the parts of your bass before you start posting lessons! That little thing right there is called a string retainer!Jesus Christ!

  • ur comment probably helped ppl more than the guy

  • thanks for the tips man

  • American Deluxe Zone bass with gold hardware

  • thats a cool bass what kind of bass is it?

  • I just bought a new Fender without strings... So i find this video fery helpfull.

    Thank You!

  • wow, a bass without strings, i've never heard about that

  • Hey, stop being pricks, guys! He's being helpful, so you rag on him? Get a life outside the internet, kids. It'd do you well.

  • Why is everybody making fun of this guy? THis dude is so helpful. I've barely been playing bass for a week and this dude has taught me so much a
