I agree we shouldn't have bailed out anyone. Obviously public demand doesn't support further consumption of the products these companies produce so they should be able to go bankrupt. When a company goes bankrupt it doesn't show weakness in the economy rather it lets use know the market is working. Resources are being reallocated in such a way to better serve the economy.

The essential difference is while the free market might not pay as much it will lead to money being worth more as there will be no government (as we know them) to enforce monopolies. If the failing businesses where left to feel the full weight of their policies instead of foisting it upon the "taxpayers", a third party who currently cannot throw off the weight because it is in government's interests to prop up these businesses regardless of the "governed", then you would see new companies coming in to replace the old. State Capitalism places all the risk on the people with all the gain being held in a select few. And why not? When you fail, you get corporate welfare!

Anyone realise that the stimulus money and the bailout money could pay off just about every credit card? Just think how much the economy would have been helped if they had just told everyone "NO MORE CREDIT DEBT!".
By the way, we did a bailout of about 200 billion in the late 1980's i believe. We're still paying for it. How are we gonna pay for the Trillions obama is adding to our debt?

There was no bailout under Reagan, in fact his tax cuts are what that made the economy boom and thrive. Then the Republicans took the congress in 1994, and balanced the budget (all Clinton did was cut national security funds).

I agree we shouldn't have bailed out anyone. Obviously public demand doesn't support further consumption of the products these companies produce so they should be able to go bankrupt. When a company goes bankrupt it doesn't show weakness in the economy rather it lets use know the market is working. Resources are being reallocated in such a way to better serve the economy.

I advocate it knowing full well that I might not be successful in it to a degree that I like, but on the generally belief that pure consensual involvement in all matters will be better for all people in general.

There are certainly ways to make money when not in the free market. The essential difference is while the free market might not pay as much it will lead to money being worth more as there will be no government (as we know them) to enforce monopolies. Also investors and investing are not inherently evil, the use of force, aside from self defense, is.

Socialism is a rather varied category, a catch all name used when individuals don't have enough knowledge to further categorize. For example, many people translate the term liberal as being socialist, where the modern stereotype is merely seeking to force their views out as mainstream, and it may be.

Further we come to the term "Progressive", which is a nice way of hiding the fact that the person who truly is one (rather than using the name) essentially believes that because government protects property then it owns the property and allows individuals to use it as they see fit because it is believed that they can make the most effective use of it at the time. In this way the government sees that you can be trusted with your gun because it benefits it currently to let you have it.

When it no longer sees it as beneficial for you to have your gun or when it sees that it might be benefited more in taking it away and handing it off to someone else because it "owns" it in "truth" it will take it away from you and is happy to do whatever it can to do so. "State Capitalism" can be found somewhat in here as well, because it uses the power of coercive force in one way or another to ensure its ends are met. The recent bailout is an example of it use.

If the failing businesses where left to feel the full weight of their policies instead of foisting it upon the "taxpayers", a third party who currently cannot throw off the weight because it is in government's interests to prop up these businesses regardless of the "governed", then you would see new companies coming in to replace the old. State Capitalism places all the risk on the people with all the gain being held in a select few. And why not? When you fail, you get corporate welfare!

In continuation: Socialism is a catch-all phrase to explain away government control over something that individuals theoretically allow them to and I say theoretically because if people could step back and see how government assumes their consent and treats them as chattel, even in America, they would never have allowed it the power it has.

As for your comments during my forced break in though, communism is a form of socialism. It is in fact the supposed outcome after socialism as predicted by Marx and Engels. This isn't necessarily what happens though, as the rise of Mussolini shows. Raised on socialism and a member of the Italian Communist Party, when he broke with his fellows he did so into the arm of the socialism called Fascism. Mussolini never stopped being a socialist by his own words.

This isn't to say that there aren't people who don't like living in a socialist government type. They see the benefits and put up with the faults. To a degree, however, their consent is manufactured. They believe, to a degree, that via elections or paying taxes (which they never have much chance to bear off), that they have consented and never think past it though this is a rather general statement in truth. This is why Anarchists don't believe in voting as well.
