when i had my Sohc police interceptor it ran 6's for its 0-60. Turn OD and traction control off before you launch, ull see a difference. ive yet to test my non LSD Mark viii untill i have gears that are worth a crap.
i absolutly love these mn12/fn10 platfoms if only they were geared properly from factory say with 3.55 they be a monster given people moded them anyways but i mean from factory with 3.55s it get theat thing in the powerband so easily its not funny love these things but i got the cousin a 95 bird 4.6 i just got down doing the mark viii air box, mafs, and injectors on to mine so much better throttle responce and low end torque, not any more power as in max wise but the power peaks faster
I bought a 93' Mark VIII in 1997 and mine was an absolute BEAST (stock). Mine would run 0-60 in 5.8-6.0 consistently. When I shifted manually, it would bark 2nd gear solidly. It ran strong on the bottom and the top. I routinely ran it over 140 mph and it would easily outrun Mustangs, both 5.0's and 4.6's! The 97-98's transmissions shifted much softer which certainly slowed the 0-60 times.
@MrDMack67 Eh, if you're being honest, it's possible someone before you tinkered with it. Marks don't typically chirp 2nd stock. My 96 had 62,000 miles when I bought it in '05, and it was soft going into 2nd. Regardless of manually up-shifting and T/C being off. I worked at a used car lot years ago and a 96 Thunderbird with a 3.8 came in that they let me use to run titles, etc. in. It WOULD chirp 2nd, but stock they don't. So at some point a tranny shop had to of tinkered with it.
@CarpathianCarl It is very possible the 1-2 accumulator spring in the valve body broke in half. That was somewhat common with these cars and WILL give you a 2nd gear chirp. It won't hurt anything though but is most likely the cause if the trans has never been modified.
@MrDMack67 You say "stock" so the 140 mph never happened because they were governed at 130mph and 5.8-6.0 seconds flat in a stock Mark VIII is a pipe dream even for a Gen1. 5.0 Mustang Foxes were good for about mid to high 14s stock. The best you would ever see with a Gen 1 is that at best but most likely a high 14 at best or low 15, so you weren't "outrunning" any 5.0 Stang The 4.6 Stangs were slightly faster yet when stock. You can bullshit a lot of people but not me. ;-)
@kenneykole the 93-95 Mark VIII's are quicker than the 97-98 models. It's due to tuning and the intake design. However they do not do 0-60 in 6.2secs stock. Most are still right around 7secs on a flat road. 3.73's and a posi would get you to the low 6sec range.
The Mark VIII is faster than the LSV8 with the exception of the 2003 model which is only about 2/10ths of a second quicker than the MarkVIII. Motor trend magazine puts the 0-60 for the '03 model at 6.8 seconds, and the Mark VIII stock can run 7 flat or a little quicker depending on the driver. I
The Mark VIII motor will redline at about 6250 stock. With a tune, that will raise the rev limiter to 7000-7200. Obviously with raised limiters one must be very careful.
yes i agree, i have a 98 Mark VIII LSC and can do 0-60 in 6.5 seconds STOCK. Thunderbirds are no match for the Mark VIIIs. After i put in 4.10 gears, trac -lok and tune, racing a Thunderbird will be a waste of time :) There is a guy on here that has these exact mods. His 0-60 is 5.6 seconds and the 1/4 mile is 13.5 Not bad for a car that ways over 2 tons and $1500 at the most in mods. mark VIIIs have a lot of potential because they use the Mustang Cobra engine block not those weak SOHC 4.6s.

ya right the mark does 0-60 in 7 my bird does 0-60 in bout 7.5 and bus length u wish fucking moron. I was stating that for a car with almost 100 extra hp it should have a 0-60 of at least 6.5 thats all ass hole. plus it was 20 grand more bird is overall a way better value not so much now though since the prices are about the same for each car
Yea if you look around Mark VIIIs do 0-60 in 6 seconds range. I have two, 97 in 6.5s and my 93 in 5.9s. Yes I have videos to prove it unlike you. Mark VIIIs aren't geared for 0-60 performance. It really startds going after the second gear and yea, your Tbird can't keep up. look up the stats Marks are high 14 to low 15s stock.
I agree mark0101. What a lot of people don't understand is that when it comes to race day, even tenths of a second are huge. As far as the Thundrbird, he would be about 1 second or more behind the Mark VIII in the 1/4 mile, and in my opinion, that's an ass-whoopin' on the track :)

hmm, it should be faster than 7 secs.
Have you ever been in 93-94 Mark VIII?
Because I have 1994 Mark VIII is much faster than yours. Mine 0-60 in 6.2 seconds. Well have fun with yours!

@kenneykole I also have a 93 and it does feel quicker

@dnehthend Really, hmm I don't know why the newer is little slower than the old one. I thought the new will be faster.
kenneykole 1 year ago
@kenneykole the general consensus is that the stock gen 1s are quicker with the 93's being the most aggressive, something in the tuning

@kenneykole No stock MK8 runs 0-60 in 6.2secs unless it's downhill. 280hp, 3900lbs with a pathetic 3.07 rear gear... no way.

@kenneykole the 93 had the best factory tune and is the fastest of the marks i used to own a 93 until i totaled it now i own a 96

This car is a joke...My 97 Thunderbird has 85 less hp and it does 0-60 in about 7.5. plus this cost $20,000 more when it was new.

Really is that how you really compare cars by comparing their 0-60 Times? it will put bus lenghts on your Thunderbird

Thats 7.1 seconds not 7.4. You are supposed to count the seconds number (which would be7) and the first milliseconds number (which would be 1).
