this poem is a great piece. i honestly think only writers and those with a deep understanding of those other than themselves will be able to grasp the message. its pretty much an ode to writing. writing about his problems helps him deal with the madness that goes on in his world. love it
the compulsion to write...the fact that when slavery was around they sang or told stories as a way of expressing themselves...now almost everyone can write as a way of expression. i think he adequately portrayed these points...then again its just my opinion.
