I'm a nurse at an ear, nose and throat office. I've seen this done countless number of times but I do have to say those packing strips were pretty LONG. No wonder he was coughing blood!!!!
Believe me people, it is very very painful!! dont ever get septoplasty done. just live with it, u'll be better off...n u shud believe it coming from someone who's had it 2 days back!!
omg I'm dying watching this !!!!!!!!!!!!!! had no idea the packing was that long. SCARY! I was thinking of having a septoplasty when I have a rhinoplasty but now I just want to leave the septum as it is.. LOL Aahhhhhhhhhh so scary
@bananaboots989 Yeah I had my surgery at 3:00PM monday, and I think at like 6AM on Tuesday morning they took my packing out, didn't hurt or feel uncomfortable 1 bit.... but I think it was primarily do to the fact that I was OUT COLD when they woke me up, so maybe my senses were messed up
I had my surgery 3 days ago and I'm having the packing and stents removed in 4 days. This is by far the most uncomfortable I've been. Lots of pain. Not looking forward to this.
I am going in tomorrow for my second nasal operation. The polyps have since returned. My ENT specialist has suggested the continuing daily use of Rhinocort nasal spray indefinately as a precaution to prevent the return of the polyps. When I first had ths surgery I was unaware of the risk of the polyps returning but am now confident that I am educated enough to avoid the polyps returning again after the second operation. Wish me luck!
Guys i want to share what i have been through. I had surgery septoplasty. It went fine and i was discharged from hospital and returned home happily , but after couple of days it started bleeding heavily , i went to A&E and to stop the bleeding they put packing in my nose..I repeat again they put packing in my nose whithout and anesthatic or any medicine which can help me to have less pain. That was the worst time of my list in 27 years for the pain i sufferd. I was almost unconscious for 4 hours
Ok. I'm having endoscopic surgery soon, and after watching this, I dunno. Was it really worth it? That looked awful! I hope you were heavily medicated when they removed that packing...
did your doctor say why he was packing your nose as opposed to just using splints? my doc said that packing is unnecessary and splints work just fine. I don't know your specific circumstances; I am just wondering if your doc put you through this discomfort unnecessarily.
Thanks for sharing this vid! I am having sinus polyp surgery in a few months. I really appreciate the video. Has your breathing/ symptoms improved since having the septoplasty?
Omgggg your video is by far the most disturbing. I had this surgery last Wednesday and am dredding yet very much looking forward to getting the splits taken out. I can't believe you had THIS much bleeding, yikes!!! Did it hurt having them removed???
@mattycull I feel wonderful after the surgery, I can't believe the difference, I had no idea what I was missing out on!! Not only that, but my sense of taste and smell is stronger now as well. Very well worth all the misery. Hopefully you had great results also!!
To anyone having/had this surgery, or waiting to get the splints out, HANG IN THERE, the first night is the worst by far, and when you finally do get the splints out (it felt like an enternity waiting!) the relief is euphoric!
I just had the same surgery yesterday (deviated septum, polyps, turbinate reduction). My doctor has me irrigating my nose 5 times per day with saline solution, instead of doing the packing. Thank God - I'm glad I didn't have to suffer through what you did.
I,ve had it twice...........:-{................septoplasty+septorhinoplasty+cartilage augmentation...............holy shit it,s painfull as well as disgusting
I got septoplasty and when they took the stints out (the tube looking thingies) it hurt so bad, and I coughed just like u did in this vid D: I cried a lil. Blood was draining down the back of my throat, and it felt like the tube things were in the back of my throat, and under my eyes. it was quite dang painful and irritating. If I EVER had to get surgery again with my nose, I wouldnt want to just for the pain the stints caused being pulled out :\ But I was 15, and I could handle it :] dont worry
@jp547 I couldnt smell properly before my surgery, i was always congested with thick chunks of hard snot but it was worth it as i can breathe easily and dont get congested
@mattycull Hello Matt. I cant breath correctly from my nose, its huge and one of the doctors said I had a deviated septum. Im soon 16 years old and he said it has to be performed at 18. Afterall im taller than my parents and I dont think my nose is gonna grow anymore because its enormous.
This doctor was turkish afterall and I dont trust him dont ask why.. I currently live in Sweden and do you think its worth to have it checked up here for free?
@jp547 Oh, it's absolutely worth it!! I had a deviated septum from breaking my nose 3 times (not at the same time). I got my surgery last year when I was 14, and I'm so glad I did, I couldnt breath much out of one side of my nose it was closed. The aftermath of the surgery is dozing off pretty all day, and its hard to sleep the first night the pain is pretty bad, and I had strong pain killers. You'll need help walking anywhere cause you'll be very very dizzy and very tired
hi' am only young teen and id just watch ur video and can u give me an advice if i continue to go to surgery because am going to the same procedure.. coz after i watch u i felt afraid... tnx

cripes, did you have a caveman do your surgery? haha.. i had this done a few weeks ago and the removal of the packing was not that difficult or bloody..
When I had the gauze removed post septoplasty, the surgeon snuck it up on me, haha. Just grabbed it by surprise and pulled. Due to my dislike of opioids, I decided it would be a funny trick to convince the nurse I'd already had my shot of pethidene for the removal. You say it's not painful, I can't really relate... I did it without painkillers, and mine was quite painful indeed haha.
looks to me tht the one that has being sucking dicks is you...to the point tht ypou had to get your nose fixed considering how many cocks and balls were being rammed in your face...
ha ha.. this is a miserable surgery. i feel for you.. the worst part for me was a week later when the doctor is trying to scoop clots out of your sinuses and you can feel is metal instruments clinging inside your skull!! miserable
Yep, that's exactly what mine looked like. It was very uncomfortable, but it didn't really cause any pain. But I bled quite a bit after the packing was removed. I had to pinch my nose shut for about 5 minutes, but that in turn made me gag on the blood that backed up into my throat. It was nasty.
