While these lamps are on display on a shelf and not in use, I think it's worth mentioning that these do require a clearance above the chimney for the heat to dissipate. I would say three feet is a good distance. I assume this wasn't as much a problem in years past when ceilings were higher and rooms were larger.
But, while some would argue that the heat is a waste and inefficient use of energy, in winter can be beneficial bonus not only supplying light but reducing (slightly) heating costs.
@southernrain1000, That is correct, our setup is for display only. There is more clearance needed for actual use. Our current pricing is a little less than you have quoted, for prices visit lehmans.com.
Ok, I have one of these lamps. But how about stop calling everything we use as energy as "fuel?" These lamps use kerosene (specifically k1 kerosene) in them. A funny car is a "fuel burning dragster." So is my wick lamp a "fuel burning funny lamp? Lets keep it simple....a car uses gas....a lamp uses lamp oil. That way we won't follow the professor idiots who taught us how to think in college.
@utooblostmyothername I think you may benefit someone by calling an apple an apple and an orange an orange instead of just "fruit" when you want them to go to the store. Like......"Could you go to the store and buy me apples?" Keep it simple.
@nobux60 As funny as it sounds, after WWII and a shortage of everything, some cars were built to run on kerosine. And, upon looking it up on Wikipedia, there was a tractor designed to start up on gasoline and then switch over to run on kerosine.
