With just a little tiny bit of research, one could find that the most likely reason U.S.A. went to Vietnam was because the North Vietnamese army might have interrupted the output of the titanium mines in South Vietnam(sounds like Iraq, huh?). Democracy was just a front to make American politicians look like heroes and hippies had nothing to do with Vietnam. They did make good TV here in America and created a lot violence in the name of peace.

And from working with Chinese students (I taught them english) I was surprised to hear that China actually attacked Vietnam when the vietnamese became aggresive in several border altercations. China would not have helped them, and the so called "Peace" movement stupidly supported what resulted in a bloodbath, even though they had no direct role in ending the conflict.

I've spoken to VA vietnam vets who've been spit on, insulted, and harassed by so called "love children" back then. Scumbags.

You really overemphasize the significance of the 60's protests; the fact that the war had a draft (slave soldiers, hate the idea of it), had a majority young population who was eligible for the draft, made it unpopular with everyone in the U.S. If you look at public opinion polls from that time, you'll notice support for the war actually increased after the big hippie fuckfests they called protests because the majority found the unwashed kids disgusting. If they did anything,they prolonged it.

1 it wasn't a war. 2, the politicians ended the war. If the US Military was allowed into Northern Vietnam, (ground forces), North Vietnam would have been crushed, hell rolling thunder II nearly crumbled North Vietnam's military and logistical abilities in the border cities and ports. The US Military is a ruthless foe when unleashed without restrictions, but there are restrictions and our use of force is limited.

12 years of political bullshitting, washington picking and choosing targets, refusing to allow U.S. troops to invade North Vietnam. U.S. Troops were frozen to South Vietnamese Territory for all but special forces operations, minus the invasion of Cambodia.

Military has completed every objective around. It's the Iraqi Politicians that need to straighten their shit out, it's Washington that needs to shove their size twelves up Iran's ass and tell them to chill their asses out.
