"Rising Star" was Tom's first CD. It's also very good. It has some contemporary compositions as well as plenty of old ragtime. They're not as obscure as the tunes on "Rewind", but only a die-hard ragtimer would know some of them (e.g., "Texas Tommy Swing" is one you may have heard before).
The only other albums with Tom playing piano are his duet CDs with Nan Bostick. I recommend "Dualing at the McCoys" out of those two.
His other albums are specialized (piano-roll arrangements; synthesizers).
...I was saying..Tom is fantastic and I love the tension he can put in his performances! Great snappy ragtime piano playing!!! And great rag too, quite in the style of Brun Campbell (the best of all)
If you want a Brun Campbell / Trebor Tichenor style, wait 'til you hear Max's latest, once he finishes it. A few weeks ago, he sent me a MIDI file of what he had had thus far. Really nice!
Gosh, this is a spunky tune! Way to co-compose ragtimemax and ragtimebuddy!...hum, maybe I need to change my name to ragtimeidasynco and I too could compose...
And gurr to Tom Brier for being such an awesome sight reader!! 2x5+1x5 = "bunch o' stars"!!
Tom Brier takes my breath away! I attended WCRF for the first time last week - thank you Tom, Ron, and others who taped and posted performances therefrom.
Thanks. What feeling "Rising stars"?

I want the CD.

Tom Brier's latest CD: cdbaby(DOT)com/cd/tombrier
This tune is not on it, however. "Rewind" is a CD with old tunes -- but all obscure tunes.

Royal Oak Rag should be on the Top Ten charts and Tom Brier should seat himself in front of my Knabe's keyboard. Feet keep dancing!

This makes me wonder what a Scott Joplin, Brun Cambell collaboration would sound like.
