If the Dream Act had succeeded, it would encouraged more parents to bring their children illegally into the US -- always in greater hope of yet another child amnesty program. Similarly the original 1983 Reagan amnesty act promised to never allow a repeat amnesty, but there have been at least 5 additional amnesties actions by succeeding congresses. What one Congress had promised has NO sway in a future congress. Provide a gift one time and such a favor is always expected in the future.
Why push an act that will either put more people in military/service, or in more debt? Why not work together to protect natural resources for all humans regardless of where they were born. There are now austerity measures all over the globe, not just Mexico. People need to come together to separate government from global corporations. Similarly the original 1983 Reagan amnesty act promised to never allow a repeat amnesty, but there have been at least 5 additional amnesties actions by succeeding congresses. What one Congress had promised has NO sway in a future congress. Provide a gift one time and such a favor is always expected in the future.
