  • wow

  • what do use to mack all those amazing paper mache things please answer back !!!

  • @fjcruiz74

It's all paper mache as well as cloth and glue. If you are interested in my techniques, you can find information on my site, GourmetPaperMache (dot com) and my blog, PaperMacheBlog (dot com).

    Take care

    Dan

  • sorry i'm no artist in that kind of field, i'm just wandering what are the kind paints you use for the coating etc., i wanna try it one time.. :D it's very nice...:D

  • @thearmoryproduction

    Hello there,

Thank you for the kind words. I just use latex based paints, like house paint you would buy at Home Depot. But any, all purpose, paint will work. I prefer water-based paints though, not oil-based.

Good luck. You should try this medium I think. It's very satisfying.

    Dan

  • Bravo ! Great !

  • @loresamba

    Thank you!

    Dan

  • Dan, I mean the white wrinkly pieces you put on...

ps Thanks for the very prompt reply!

  • @Pottymoon

    Hi again,

I put on a "skin" of cloth (old bedsheets) dipped into white glue (usually Elmer's). I call it "cloth mache". Adds lots of strength and is great for details.

    Take care

    Dan

  • Was that Mod roc you added at the end?

  • @Pottymoon

    Hello there,

It wasn't Mod roc. I don't know what that is. Do you mean the black paint? Sorry.

    Dan

  • What for do you need... Ah, I'll better ask not!

  • @Lenzebubi

Thank you for the comment....I think. Something was lost in translation.

    Take care

    Dan

  • @DanMonsterMan

Sorry for my baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad english. I just thought about what you gonna do with this! :D

  • @Lenzebubi

I'm sorry that I didn't understand. Actually I ended up selling this piece. Hard to believe. Thank you for commenting.

    Dan

  • 3 people dont like pigs

  • @lifeisheavan

Yeh, it is kind of an ugly pig, I admit. But 3 out of 47, 909 views is not a bad "no like" ratio.

    Dan

  • how did i get from hot girls shooting guns to this?0.o

  • @MChalzy

You are too funny! Hot girls and my paper mache must be cosmically linked.

    Thank you for watching.

    Dan

  • WWWOOWW!!!!!! it is amazing!!! i really like it. is that your work?? bye YOU ARE A GENIUS

  • @gregoC13

Thank you so much for the nice comment! I very much appreciate your kind words.

    Take care

    Dan

  • wow, thats really good, your are really good, I'm speechless, all I can say is just wow. wow. wow.

  • @artpeacemaster

Thank you very much! I'm really flattered by such an enthusiastic comment.

    Take care

    Dan

  • Neat pig, but I really like the music.

  • @originalwillow1

You so funny! But this isn't the first video. This is the second one. The first one is the "Gourmet Paper Mache Dragon." This music is so so I think.

  • how to make that teeth

  • @jessemaik

I used "Fimo" for these teeth and claws, but there are several products that work such as "Super Sculpy". Any polymer based clay will work. You bake it in the oven.

    Dan

    GourmetPaperMache (dot com)

  • Your work is so amazing. I have been using your book and I am actually making a life size BatMan for his 18th birthday this month but my snake is almost done : ) I do have request for a pig so I am watching your video and gonna apply it for my art. Thank you so much for all the help you have given to me. I will send you pics thru your website. Talk to you soon. Thank you again

  • @creationsbylea

That's all wonderful! Congratulations! I'm very happy to hear that you are enjoying this art form. And I'm really flattered to think that I helped.

Good luck on your next piece.

    Take care

    Dan

PS. And yes, I'd love to post photos on my site.

  • Hi in my class we are going to make paper mâché animals I don't know what animal I should pick what is the easiest animal to paper mâché

  • @crazymess20

Well, a pig is probably the easiest, but that is also the most boring (because it's traditional to make a paper mache pig). How about a dog?

    Dan

  • how many layers of newspaper do you put on in the beginning when you were making the mold for the body and other parts of the pig?

  • @aisumi123

I put probably 4 or 5 layers. But it's hard to say since I don't count. However if you are making a pinata, I would say 4 would be good. You don't want it too thick.

    Good luck.

    Dan

    GourmetPaperMache (dot com)

  • how many times have you messed up and broken your paper mache while working on it???

  • @jcarrigan0

I've messed up plenty. But this medium is very forgiving. I just rebuild and move on. Once I put the "skin" of cloth and glue on, it doesn't break. It's very strong.

    Dan

  • did you use the clothes wire to hold up the tounge kinda missed it what was it used for. Can you do this if you want to make a pinata?

  • @aisumi123

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you mean. I don't have a tongue for this pig. I use the clothes hangers for the arms and legs. You can make a pinata using these techniques, but I wouldn't put the final "skin" of cloth and glue on.

    Hope this helps. Good luck

    Dan

    GourmetPaperMache (dot com)

  • Dude, you have some of the coolest vids. I don't even do paper machete, but I still love your videos.

  • @misper34

Thank you so much for the comment! I really appreciate your kind words. I'm very happy that you like the videos.

    Take care

    Dan

  • do you plan these? or just frestyle it?

  • @387Dima

    Hello there,

It's a bit of both I guess. I don't draw it or put anything on paper but sometimes I have an image in my head I'm going for. Then if it doesn't match it doesn't matter since there is nothing to compare it to. I do enjoy the "surprise" element though.

On more important pieces, like my new dragon pair (video on this site) I have a good idea about what I want in advance.

    Thanks for asking.

    Dan

  • @DanMonsterMan thanks for answering!, I've been really into paper mache lately, and i do a similar thing, like not planning it out to a t, but having a vague idea of what i want it to look like, I'll post the video of my latest project when i'm one with it.

  • @387Dima

Sounds great. Let me know when you are finished.

    Take care

    Dan

  • @DanMonsterMan hey its up now, if you check it out i'd greatly appreciate it.

  • visioush piggy! lol (cuz of da teeth)

  • @grimlan1997

Yes, I guess the teeth do make him a bit mean looking (or crazy looking).

    Dan

  • kinda laughed when you put that lump in between its legs =) amazing stuff though

  • @versatilechicken

I'm glad you like the video. Thanks for the nice comment!

    Dan

  • what does the black stuff do

  • @musicm51

The black brings out and highlights the other colors. And it emphasizes the details.

I call the process "blackwashing". It just really makes the colors stand out.

    Dan

  • amazing painting job!!!

  • @mslinnealove

    Thank you!

    Dan

  • what is that white coating you are putting over???

  • @artpeacemaster

That is cloth (an old bed sheet) dipped in Elmer's glue (any white glue will work). I call this process "cloth mache."

    Dan

  • dziękuje za śliczną odpowiedz nie spodziewałam sie ! pana prace sa prześliczne !!

  • @zabsiulka

    Zapraszamy. Dziękuję za miły komentarz!

    Dan

  • What do you do with fangs?

  • @zabsiulka

I make those out of "Fimo", a plastic material you bake in the oven.

    Dan

    Gourmetpapermache (dot com)

  • this came out great!your work is amazing.i just have 1 question.how many layers of paper mache do you do on the body?im making a dragon by the way:)thanks so much in advance!

  • @WaterWolf1241

    Hi again,

I think I put about 4 or 5 layers of paper on. It's hard to tell since I just work around the balls until they feel solid. So that's a guess.

    Good luck on your dragon.

    Dan

  • @DanMonsterMan ok,thanks so much!

  • dude love your art man, I am an artist to and i am also working on paper mache art and when i am older i will start doing more difficult art work.

  • @fearsomeflunky609

Thank you for the nice comment! I really appreciate the kind words especially from another paper mache artist. Just keep at it and you will be able to make anything you set out to make. And I'm happy to help out if you ever have questions. Just get a hold of me through my site, GourmetPaperMache (dot com).

    Take care

    Dan

  • Nice work.

What do you use for the black when you're adding shadows?

  • @hatrer

    Hi there,

That is just black paint watered down. I call this process "blackwashing" for lack of a better term. Take care

    Dan

  • wowwww

  • @marcosyjorge2010

Thank you for the nice comment!

    Dan

  • That was awesome!!!!!!

  • @coroner78

Thank you! I really appreciate the nice comment.

    Dan

  • Dan,

I think you should make a human corpse.

it would be really helpful for future films.

    please??? Alex

  • @LXohLX

But wouldn't that just look like a human? With just a bit of discoloration? Not sure about a corpse. Thanks for the suggestion though.

    Take care

    Dan

  • You're right... every artist should make at least one pig realated, (or pig), piece of art.

  • @TheDragonFreak7

Yes, that's true. Thank you for watching.

    Dan

  • how do you get your shapes smooth? Mine are all lumpy...

Should i force the lumps in?

  • @stereo123

It really isn't as smooth as it looks. If you look closely at my pieces they are quite lumpy. The final "skin" I put on my projects is cloth dipped in white glue. Perhaps that's why it looks smoother.

    Good luck.

    Dan

  • dan can you make a video on makeing a billy the doll off of saw i need help making it for my friend hes scaried of him lol!!!!

  • Wow!! You are too modest about your paper mache-ing. you're an amazing artist, keep it up! ;]

  • @MissySancha

Thank you for the kind words about my art. I really appreciate it.

    Dan

  • Hey dan,

I think you should make a gorilla, I bet you will make it great!

    -Aaron

  • @TheHALLOOON

    Hello Aaron,

Nice to know your name. Yes, a gorilla would be great . Let me think about it. Thanks for the confidence!

    Dan

  • i'm amazed by your prowess around three dimensional paper mache forms. the way you loosely block in your forms only to obliterate chunks of them to accomodate later additions seems like a three dimensional equivalent to gesture drawings.

i've been considering making paper mache critters/giant ridiculous heads. i'd planned on a much more rigid understructure of light wood & stout chicken wire, your approach seems more elegant. great work!

  • @freedo333

Thank you for the wonderful comment! I really appreciate it.. Yes, I am a real advocate for this medium. It is underutilized I think, perfect for giant ridiculous heads or dragons (I'm making three simultaneously right now). Good luck on your projects. Let me know if I can offer any advice, dan at gourmetpapermache (dot com). Take care

    Dan

  • can i buy these? and if i can how much???? plz say cheap im litterally broke. ;)

  • 5*'s ha ha ha ha, that's one scary pig...I love it!

  • Thank you! Yes, I know it's an ugly pig. Every paper mache artist has to make a pig, at least once. This is my non-cute version.

    Take care

    Dan

  • @DavidAngelMedina

You can make one of these! Paper mache is a great aret form. Try it!

    Dan

  • @DanMonsterMan

Plz can i buy one? I already tried making

one, didn't turn out so well. plz plz plz can i buy one?

  • as much as i like dragons i love pigs so i gave this vid 5 stars

  • Thank you! You know, I think every paper mache artist ends up making a pig. This is my version. People either really like it or really hate it. I'm glad you like it.

    Thanks for the nice comment.

    Dan

  • your welcome i love to draw and do all sorts of craft ideas and try to recreate it but your stuff is to good!!

  • I think you would love paper mache if you do crafts already. It is perfect medium for 3D I think.

Again, thanks for your nice comments. I really appreciate it.

    dan

  • Unreal, ever made a pinata? If so :P what? and is it hard to see, or know your work is gonna be destroyed lol.

  • I have made a couple pinatas, for my girl's birthday parties when they were growing up. They were dragon like (of course). I just didn't do the final "skin" so that they would break open. That's a nice art form too. But I would rather keep something that works well.

    Dan

  • Do you ever make custom stuff for other people?

  • Hey there. Yes, I've done a lot of work for other people. But it tends to be pricey, only because the work is so labor intensive. It is much easier and more fun to just help someone make something themselves. It is much more satisfying for them as well.

    Thanks for the comment.

    Take care

    DAn

  • ^_^

  • (.)(.)

     !

    ^^^^^^^

  • kool

    you should make a head-crab =D 5/5

  • A head crab? Sorry, not sure what that is. But thanks for the comment.

    Dan

  • go on google and type in

    head crab

    in images

its from half-life the first one but it just looks kool

  • I did that, and yes, you are right! That would be something really cool to make. I just might make a video of me making one of those. Thanks for the great suggestion!

    Take care

    Dan

  • @DanMonsterMan Its a alien monster that attaches to the heads of people as from the game Halflife 1 and 2, google "Half Life head crab" and you'll see what I mean.

  • wat's d black ting 4

  • Are you talking about the black paint? It is watered down black paint that I put on and wipe off before it's dry.

    Take care.

    Dan

  • Hey again. Can you please make more of this?

    its so nice!.

    Zako

  • Thanks again. I'm glad you like my videos. I'm actually working on another one right now. I'll have it done in a couple weeks. I'm also trying to do instructional videos. (see comment above)

    Take care.

    Dan

  • First of all, great job with all your work, it truly amazing!

and i'm just curious what the stuff your using at 1.38-2.02?

and is the final product somewhat smooth?

    -Thanks in advance, Juan

  • Hi there. Thanks for the nice comment. I put on a "skin" of cloth (old bedsheets) dipped in glue (Elmer's). That is what you are watching during that segment.

You can find out more about my processes and see more videos at monster-man (dot com) and my blog at PaperMacheMan (dot com).

    Dan

  • That is one mean looking pig! Wouldn't want to run into it in a dark alley! That music, by the way, is it musicbakery? I do alot of freelance voice-over, and use alot of their tracks. Nice work again! :)

  • Hey again,

Yes, some of it is Musicbakery. I use some of the other royalty free sites too. It's hard to find good music I think.

    Dan

  • A really good site is killertracks, it's a subsidiary of Network Music (muzac)

  • Thank you! I'm always looking for good music sites. I really appreciate it.

    Dan

  • wow ur amazing, man if i had those skills id be a millionaire, fantastic work, i love it!:)

  • Why thank you! Pretty soon I will be a millionaire. Only $999,999 to go!

    Take care.

    Dan

  • when you buy large quantity's of masking tape at the store, do they ask you what you do with it?

  • No, not usually. But that's because I buy at Home depot and I usually self check. Still, I think painters use lots of that stuff.

    Take care

    Dan

  • most excellent job dan!

  • I just saw your comment. Thank you so much!

    Dan

  • Awesome !

The pig was great . Now I'm am going to go look at your other stuff .

  • Yes, my version of the traditional paper mache fish. Not meant to be cute.

    Thanks again.

    Dan

  • I love your work. Amazing speed:) How long did it take? I mean really...

  • The pig wasn't too complicated. It took a couple of weeks. My dragons take longer of course, three weeks usually. I'm glad you like them.

Thank you for your nice comment.

    Dan

  • still amaze me seeing ur work...i bet ur neighbors get pretty upset when they walk out and see their sunday paper is missin Xd

  • You are very funny! Thank you for your kind words.

    Dan

  • I really like the style of your work. I would have never thought to do the paint that way! Did you only use masking tape to hold everything together? Because it looked like it could have been clay or something...

  • Hey there. Thanks for the nice comment. The "skin" is cloth dipped in white glue. Very strong and ideal for details.

    Take care.

    Dan

  • wow thats all i can say

  • Well thank you! Most people like the dragons. But I still like the ugly little pig. Paper mache artists are all supposed to make a pig at some point.

    Take care

    Dan

  • truly scary pig, but truly AMAZING work, please please PLEASE keep the vids comming!

  • Thank you for the nice comment. Yes, the pig is a bit scary. I was trying to go beyond the typical cute paper mache pig.

    Dan

  • I really enjoy watching your method and I feel inspired to work on my own stuff. Thanks!

  • Well thank you for your nice comment. I'm glad I could be of service. It's a funny thing, while you thank me for inspiring you to work, your comment inspires me to do the same. Whenever someone subscribes to my channel, I want to hurry and get another video out there. I have just finished filming and sculpting a project. I'll have a new video in 2 to 3 weeks. Hope you like it.

    Thanks again.

    Dan

  • That is great! So, what did you use to glue on the teeth? I would like to start but can never find anything good on paper mache. This would really help for an upcoming project!

    Im a fan, Jenna

  • Hi Jenna,

I use tape (or hot glue) to hold on teeth until I put on the "skin" , in this case, the lips, of cloth dipped into Elmer's glue. That is what ultimately holds the teeth in place.

Good luck on your project. You just need to start, even if you don't know every aspect. Let me know if I can help. Thanks for your kind words.

    Dan

  • awesome masterpiece..

  • Well thank you Jeff! It's funny, people either really like that pig or hate it. No in between. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • WOW Dan, that is some amazing stuff.

Can I ask what type of cloth do you use towards the end and what kind of paint.

Ive never seen cloth done on papermache before.

    Great work, keep em coming!

  • Hey Jay,

Thank you for your kind words! I very much appreciate it. I use old, white, cotton bedsheets. The older the better. If you can tear them with your hands (without using scissors) then they are cloth mache gold. If you ask around, someone will have an old sheet. After all, virtually everyone sleeps on them.

    Take care

    Dan

  • lol thanks Dan , hope there is more to come!!

  • Thanks Patrick. I know, a bit creepy is right. But you must admit, it's better than a balloon pig.

    Take care

    Dan

  • Dan you blow mw away this is great but the pig is kinda creepy

  • Dan You are amazing! I did something like that when I was 2nd grade at school - with a fruit and paper and using flour with water for the "glue" :)

Keep up the great work, greets form Bulgaria :)

  • Thank you Pavel,

I really appreciate the nice comment! Greetings from the US.

    Dan

  • :) you`re welcome :) Hope going back to the states and meeting your country again :)

  • Great video youve inspired me to make my own sculpture umm i was just wondering what do u make the teath out of? =D

  • Hey Chris,

I use this plasticene clay called "Fimo". You can also use Supersculpy. Just ask for any oven baked clay at a craft store.

    Good luck!

    Dan

  • amazing!

  • Thank you!

    Dan

  • this pig gives me nightmares, idk why its just creepy! but its still amazing! Keep posting videos!

  • I know, it stares at me while I sleep. But I keep an eye on it too, just to make sure it doesn't do anything bad at night.

    Thanks for commenting. Take care.

    Dan

  • I'm sorry, it's gmail by the way

    thanks Dan!

  • Hey Ario,

Thank you for your kind words. I have sent you a friend request in facebook. If you confirm, I can see your profile and hopefully some of your artwork.

  • It(He,She) is delo better that I have seen the truth the technology(skill) and since they do it the truth is brilliant(genial) if me sorprendio wait that suvan a video where they explain the materials and the technology(skill) that they use to elaborate these magnificent imaginary moustros

  • Thank you for the comment, although I'm not totally sure I follow it. Nevertheless, I appreciate it.

    Dan

  • WOW I WANT IT :(

  • I guess you like the pig. Thank you. You should make one. It is really fun to do.

    Take care.

    Dan

  • Beautiful. Simply amazing, I am stunned.

How long did it take you?

  • Hey again, this took about 2 weeks, but only for an hour a day.

The last video I put on her "Paper Mache Baby" took a lot longer because I not only had to make the baby dragon, but the second baby dragon and the mom as well. Took more than a month. Thank you so much for your nice comments!

  • amazing vid you realy are a master at this, how do you keep the outerlayer from sticking to the inner papier machee ball?

  • Well thank you Bill! That is a really nice comment. It made my day!

  • When television was brand new, the experts predicted that TV would make people smarter and enrich their lives. I guess this is what they were thinking about.

  • What a nice remark! Thank you! I don't know how I missed this comment. You are too kind.

    Dan

  • i like how you make the balls of paper then put paper mache on the outside and cut it open. very innovative great work!!

  • You are very kind to say so. Traditionally, people would sculpt with wire and then add a skin of paper mache. I literally sculpt with paper mache balls (using masking tape) and then cover it with a skin of cloth dipped in glue. Thank you for you nice remark.

  • OH, I just never stop watching your videos.

You are one talented person. Keep posting them videos, not only are they amazing to watch they are so inspirational.

  • Thank you so much for the nice comment! I really appreciate it!

  • Wow.

    Simply amazing.

  • Thank you ppppretty! I appppreciate it!

  • Brilliant, as usual.

  • Wow, what a nice comment from a true mache master! Thanks!

  • DanMonsterMan,

I can't open your message; I don't know why!? Could you try it one more time :).
