@bluecat68, There's usually 2 sesh's but can be any number of heats depending on where or whats going on. The first run is usually the practice or qualifying run ("Speed run" or "Tansou") and the second sesh is the final tandem run. In the first run they are graded on speed, angle, their line choice and their showmanship. They race to place on the final 16 grid. The next day is the final 16 where they get paired off and run two passes against their pair. The best of the 8 go to the final 4.....

In the tandem, keeping close to your opponent wins points the closer and longer you keep tight, pulling away from your opponent wins you points the further and longer you keep a lead, overtaking your opponent when drifting wins that pass automatically, overtaking when you're in grip always forfeits the pass. And as always, spinning out always forfeits, unless the other driver spins out too. And that's the basics. Some places run races differently.

@bluecat68, The second car is kind of unfortunate because you really can't see. You have to know the track and your position. It's quite difficult. That's why they get 2 heats. One leads while the other follows for 1 heat, then they switch places. Best of both heats win. In the final 2, if the judges cannot decide they will sometimes keep racing until someone is the clear winner.

Its my opinion though that Pukekohe is certainly the most daunting and standout of them all, just the sheer length of the drift and both speed and angle the pro drivers sustain around the sweeper is somthing to behold, not to mention how dangerous it is given the nature of the track.
