  • To Blobelflub

Did you know they now have their own channel?

  • Jonathan! Shirley and I enjoyed this Sooooo Much! -

  • To choirmember100

Thanks for the comment. We did, too. Were you aware that the choir now has its own YouTube channel?

  • beautiful voices

  • To suej3169

Thank you. I have to agree though it's not my choir.

  • From Ynys-Mon myself, a top-tenor, C sharp ! Sang in London and USA. So I know my ''voices''. Jussi Bjorling, Ben Gigli, Gwyneth Jones, Geraint Evans, Bryn Terfel, and of course Harry Secombe too !!...Cantorion Colin Jones am byth !!

  • To rhosllanerchrygog

There, and I thought you must come from Wrexham! Llanelli, myself. Baritone, but really a second tenor.

  • Usual unbeatable Welsh choral standards ! ( I've heard the rest, But Welsh are Best...as is made highly obvious herein.) Waith dda iawn braf...Dda iawn. Hwyl O USA ac Ynys Mon yn Gwynedd....Cantorion Colin Jones...SUPERB.. high-class, world standards so famed of Welsh Choral works..Unbeatable..

  • To rhosllanerchrygog

    Thank you, Sir.

  • I am from the Valleys and grew up with this beautiful singing. For the cynic who stated that the men were old. There is no agism in Wales and better that the elderly spend their time singing to five and receive pleasure than sitting in front of the tele with their carpet slippers! How rude and ignorant.

  • To Sonneteer1

Thank you for your comment. I know that the choir still watch my channel so they will be glad to be appreciated. After all, though it's great to do, it does demand a considerable degree of commitment. We at Llanelli MVC rehearse twice a week as well as the engagements. . . . Alan

  • Hello Alan. I am from Pandy but now live in London. My mam was a contralto and I know how much commitment she gave to her singing. A few years back the Llanelli MVC performed in Staines, Middlesex. I attended and all my childhood memories of that beautiful sound filled me with emotion. Simply wonderful. How proud I am to be Welsh.........Maureen

  • To Sonneteer1

You'll be glad to know that we came 2nd today in the National Eisteddfod at Ebbw Vale. Much rejoicing in Llanelli - we haven't done so well for years! . . . Alan

  • @balmesh

Well done! If this beautiful rendition is anything to go by then it is well deserved. I must come home soon to gaze upon the mountains; listen to the wonderful choirs and to dance at The Library in Pandy. Well done again.

  • @Sonneteer1 i am most dissapointed that you think i am rude!!!!! this i am not. what i find very rude indeed is you having a go someone who has not put any negative feedback on this subject. please you do not know me so how dare you make judgement on me i.e(rude and ignorant). just enjoy the song.

  • Great singing from a great group of "old men!!!" dravidwake needs to open his ears. Thanks for posting. Scotty (Iowa USA)

  • To Dunollieman

Thank you, Sir. We are all getting older (at roughly the same speed) but it doesn't stop the singing . . . Alan

  • awesome

  • Thank you for your comment. I agree!

  • Good song

    Good sung

    Thank you

    :)

  • Thank you very much for your comment. The lads will love it!

    Alan

  • Are they alive? "Square" singing - in tune, and in time. Are the choir communicating the meaning of the words? ~Er - no. Where is the feeling?

  • I am sorry you didn't enjoy it. Most people do, and the audience certainly did.

    Alan

  • well balmesh i still cant stop flicking back at least twice a week to listen to these fantastic( old guys) in there absolute prime i must say (not an insult) :) where on earth can i see these men from pontypridd perform live. thanks again. mae hyn yn hyfryd iawn arferchog diolch

  • PlayListed ...

    5*****

  • Thanks very much. I love it, too. Being there was even better, and they are a wonderful set of lads.

  • BEAUTIFUL SINGING !!

I love music works for choir on songs !!!

    Thanks for uploading ..

  • fantastic da iawn dynion

  • Diolch yn fawr.

  • You Raise Me Up is a popular song written and performed by performers from Norway.

  • Who are the performers from Norway who wrote and performed this song? Are they on Youtube?

    Balmesh

  • The group was Secret Garden. Some of the Melody is said to be 'inspired' by Londonderry Air (Danny Boy) but is really a unique composition by Rolf Lavland of Secret Gardeon with lyrics by Brendan Graham.

  • doesnt this make you proud to be WELSH

  • Pure nostalgia. This is how Welsh choirs should sound-with just a piano for accompaniment. I grew up in this part of Wales, thank you for this sound of home.

  • flat

  • Entitled to your opinion, and glad to have it, but don't agree! I have the Fron version and thought it was plastic.

    Balmesh

  • Wow Pano just doesn't appreciate a different style of music. I am a fan of the original but I thought this was amazing and very well done. And how cruel of you to say that none of them are singing with passion. Go be a critic of something else, because you obviously don't know music.

  • Very nice and it's good to see you learned the lyrics instead of using song books guys, your director is superb.

  • Couldn't agree more. Song books take you away from the job of watching the conductor!

    Alan

  • no they dont, i hold mine in a position that i can read and watch the conductor at the same time

  • It's good to be able to read and watch the conductor, but getting the words by heart can somehow get you more into the meaning and spirit of the song. Not sure how this happens, but I believe it does work. Perhaps it allows you to "tell the story" better.

  • hmm we are just starting to sing this with our choir i believe.

    Dak's

  • What choir would that be?

    Alan

  • The Marazion Apollo MVC from down the far south west of Cornwall.

    Dak's

  • Would that have been a Fisherman's choir, originally? They were VERY good!

    Balmesh

  • lol it is likely they were lol, I'm only new to them so dont know the history as much but we got quite a few in numbers now, 50members now with usually a 40plus turnout so its all good :D and concerts are going grand, i will have to see if sometime i can get a video of us in concert up on here.

    Dak's

  • Sounds good - be nice if you could get some video on this channel.

    Balmesh

  • what i have been tempted to do is get a video of some of the members in the pubs afterwards on a social night, seeing as we all meet up and do some of the older and more local songs such as Calm is the Sea, lovely piece if you can get it right ^^ but yea it is being worked on :D

    Dak's

  • Very nice. Thank you for posting this lovely song.

    Diolch yn fawr
