  • I watched this at a pre-release private viewing .......came away thinking 'what a load of rubbish'. Might actually be more impressed now in view of the rubbish churned out on the big screen since that time. Music is excellent though.

  • I went back than to Brodway movie theater..I can't remember the movie we went to see, but on the way out we peak at the next movie that was playing and it was that movie..we sta and couldn't move the whole time. I bought to video and glad I did..and also like the music

  • If you aren't doing anything else on a weekend, get this movie, get some popcorn and have a good time. This one is worth it.

  • Doesn't Danny de la Paz frm Boulevard Nights&&' American Me come out in this movie.?

  • saw this movie !!!!!...oh God..what a bullshit movie...seriously..i was expecting more drama.....all that i got was stupid ass actions and a very annoying lead actor..Jesus Christ

  • Like for living in the miracle mile...it is very science fictiony

  • Yeah, I too saw it in 89 when it was released on VHS. My stepdad rented it, and it's hopeless suspense no matter what you do, left me with nightmares. I was only 10, and still remember that feeling. Like what if there was no anything, not even space, no planets, no life. That's not what this move is about, but made me wonder that.

  • @Syersis When you die there won't be any of those things because technically you never existed. So don't worry about it.

  • Is there a soundtrack?

  • @wendileona

    Soundtrack by Tangerine Dream.

  • @TheMurcksdiebug Thank you! I'm on a quest now!

    - Gary

  • @wendileona Yes....called Miracle Mile by Tangerine Dream. Very nice it is.

  • i'd like to see the pan pacific scene

  • Nice 80's flick, worth watching.

    Dont' read any plot summaries.

  • @NVOLIKOS

too late...I read the wikipedia entry before watching :)

  • great movie! I wish I can find it on DVD.

  • When the two major commercial TV channels were started in the late of the nineties in Hungary, this show was aired at least 2 times by one of them (RTL).

I was twenty-some years old, the Miracle Mile shocked, amazed and pushed me into a strange and sad mood which lasted days or even weeks.

  • best line ever - "it's goin' all the way to tia fuckin' wanna." lol

  • This movie will scare the shit out of you, and really make you think. The "mood" of this movie is right on the money.

  • i watched this movie for the first time a couple of months ago and it is a great movie it scared the hell outta me because its not fictional this could happen for real but if u had a warning only a hour in advance what would u do?

  • Why can't they show this on AMC or Space rather than Star wars...

    again?

  • very under rated movie. It's amazing how well it still holds up.

  • Quality film. A must see for any fan of 80's sci-fi.

  • Watched this last night for the first time in twelve years. Glad I did.

  • I completely didn't know what this movie was called. I saw it A LONG TIME AGO. I just remember enjoying the weird feeling it gave me when I was young, like that weird trance thing you get sometimes listening to music while you drive, then you can't remember actually driving. I'll watch it again and see if I still like it.

  • It is impossible to re-make this movie now, cuz we have internetz.

  • @herrharenda It is possible to remake this movie now, cuz the "Internetz" can be wrong too. Image what would happen if the truth about a nuclear war breaking out, some people would believe it, others would question if its actual truth or not. Imagine what would happen if a person that was in the diner had a smart phone and tweeted what they heard. The chaos seen at the end of the film would have actually happened much earlier than it did.

  • ok i want to see this but what is it about the trailer never mentioned what happens

  • I saw this with my dad when it came out. I was 17 or 18 and in the Marine Corps. This movie was intense and still disturbs me just a little when I see it.

  • I remember this film... back when Anthony Edwards still had hair... But I remember this movie vaguely upset me... and the end... well...

  • One of the best love story / sci-fi film of all time...a very clever idea handled just right...damn hollywood if anyone tries to arse it up by remaking it...

great Tangerene Dream soundtrack, and a rare appearance of 50 sci fi screen legend John Agar...I'd have to say its still in my top 10 films of all time...

  • @ognibandyrrah I've not seen this, but I think I will. I got lots of oldie movies I love, but I'd still want to see remakes of them. There's just not enough sci fi coming out =(

  • there is nothing hot about her, she does nothing for me or any other man!

  • one of my favorite movies

  • Wow I live in the Miracle Mile and had never heard of this movie... I'm going to look for it now.

  • I searched it for 10 years (don't knew the name of the movie) Is amazing! cheap but excellent! now i have it on DVD...

  • I despise trailers that don't tell you a damned thing about the movie they are advertising.

  • This is one of my favorite movies, if not my favorite!

  • A poor, incomprehensible trailer for a fantastic movie! Deserves a proper release on DVD/Blu Ray. Oh, and the soundtrack is excellent too.

  • My favorite movie...just love it...

  • This is a fantastic movie. I used to watch an edited version of this trailer 100 times before another film, perhaps Die Hard, as a kid. The edited version didn't give anything away, just a lot of Harry trying to pick up the phone. But the whole film is amazing and completely overlooked

  • This film needs to be remade. Love it!

  • @Daftasabat1 I've never seen it, but looks good, and I was just thinking that it should also be remade too.

  • @Daftasabat1 The writer/director of the film has stated that he would love to see it remade too, and that instead of remaking the story he did for the film, make the story he originally started off with (the story being about a couple that had been separated for about 50 years reconciling on the end of the world, which he used as the elderly couple's story that is briefly seen in the film)

  • I remember watching this when I was 8/9 yrs old(i'm now 17) and this movie scared the SH!T out of me

  • I remember me and some friends rented this way back when. we started getting bored and almost shut it of about 17 minutes into it. Then BAM! It shifted gears, very cool movie...and tragically still possible and relevant!

  • you will need alll your energy 2night. if it doest happen. ....

  • @clarko95: Nice job on blowing the end of the film you douche.

  • @Morgamania There are actually 2 endings, so i dunno about the 2nd one. Not everyone reads the comments anyway.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow! Reading these comments affirms I'm not odd. I felt the same: underrated.

I also looked for this flick at rental shops for years. I wondered why it wasn't

hailed at the box office. I thought the story strangely beautiful.

Also, I felt the same about "After Hours." Those who liked this may like "Last Night."

It stars Sandra Oh,and the end of the world scenario is similar.

  • A very underrated movie. It was good.

  • lol dirty L.A. hahah in the 80s hahah

  • I live there! I have to see this movie! Or perhaps not :p That's my gym!!! I love the transgender guy and the homeless, that's exactly THIS. nothing have changed!!

  • Does anybody know that the homeless guy in this movie is the famous porn star Tom Byron????? well, now you know.

  • When the world is about to end those lucky enough to find themselves in a Late Night DINER will know it before the rest of us.....

  • dum fook, the phone call was from a kid/ airman in a missle silo saying WW3 was goin to happen

  • ive seen this.... but it didnt make sense.

what did the phone call have to do with the world ending? are they connected, if so...how?

  • @10Gr1fterbang

It says the movie is from 88. Cold war.

What do you think the phone call was about?

  • jó film!! láttam.

  • must see!!!

    one of the best movie!!!

    I love this film

  • @infested19

it was such a damn good movie but to short n the best thing about it.. it feeled so REAL

  • @vTHExUNKNOWENv really? it FEELED so real? you amaze me.

  • this is one of the best movies ever made! a must see! way ahead of its time! if there is a smart movie director out there, they should do a re-make of this!

  • @benisdown Cosign x2 !

I seen this movie back in the late eighties and i've never forgotten it . I searched for years to find this movie again.

Excellent movie and wayyy ahead of its time ! Now, i gotta find the dvd ,lol

  • @BillyKnockout

I work in the tower featured in the trailer 5900 wilshire. stumbled on this trailer now I have to see this movie

  • @BillyKnockout truly a lost gem, but why is it ahead of its time?

  • @torstn Well , although it wasnt the first movie to deal with earth's demise in one way or another , i feel that it was definitely the prototype to movies such as " Armageddon" and " Deep Impact "

  • @BillyKnockout -ok we disagree on this then, those are big blockbuster movies and this movie has a very certain feel to it which can have only "small" movies. while armageddon is an awesome movie it doesnt have the great atmosphere

  • @BillyKnockout me too! looking for it few times online.. no luck until 5 min ago, thanx to IMDb advanced seach!

  • Me too, been searching this movie since the 80's. I finally found it on the net, bought it on eBay! Another great thriller like this is an old 1960's film "Panic in Year Zero" very similair...

  • wtf @ this movie

coyotes eating in diners...i seen everything now

  • "I'VE SEEN"

  • thank you grammar nazi

  • I saw this when I turned 8 years old and it gave me nightmares. Definitely a head of its time!

  • Love this movie, nice to see others here that remember/appreciate it...great story, tense as all hell and interesting...and an unexpected ending that was truly ahead of its time...

  • i just finished watching this. good movie

  • When i seen this movie , i was scared for along time and still am til today . this is a good movie depicting regular people going through a world ending event and how regular people like us would see it probably ... all i can say i hope iut never come to this end ...

  • Great film!!!

  • Unforgettable. But don't expect a feel-good movie. Saw this in the theater and have watched for it on tv but I haven't seen it on in years. Don't miss it.

  • This is amazing film, a genuine underrated classic, grabs you in, leaves you breathless and wrecked at the end of it, and utterly heartbroken. Why isn't this on Region 2 DVD??? Rented it on PAL VHS years ago and haven't been able to find it since!

  • That has '80s' written all the way through it, but I'm intrigued to see the film. Still not out on DVD in region 2, for some bizarre reason.

  • My reaction too, but I was interested by the Netflix description and it's got a pretty good rating on IMDB, so I'm checking it out on the instant watch.

  • Verdict: go see this movie.

  • Awsome movie and sountrack! I just bought the soundtrack on Ebay.

  • I remember watching this movie in like 1989. I forgot about it for a LONG TIME, and then a few years ago, was trying to remember the name of it. It was FANTASTIC

  • this movie has been on my mind.....

  • fucking brilliant little movie... a minor masterpiece

  • Correct. Unfortunately, the trailer does not convey how spectacularly awesome this movie is.

  • Gotta dig that 80s synthesizer score by Tangerine Dream. Total 80s movie LA night music. Perfect stuff. Ranks up there with "Blade Runner' and "The Terminator"'s scores, if you axe me. (And you did.)

  • Brilliant film!

  • Oh while I am here. Does anyone know the name of the movie that came out I believe early 80's where a teenage girl is in the midst of an atomic bomb after math. She end up having a baby and she goes day to day struggling for survival. That movie scare me shitless when I was a kid.

If you have the name please send comment to my channel.

  • Sounds like "Threads", the TV film produced by the BBC in 1984. Definitely one of the most realistic and frightening films about nuclear war! Really stuck with me, much like Miracle Mile.

  • You may be thinking of BBC TV play 'Threads' which shows a nuclear attack on Sheffield.

  • Thanks. I found it eventually thanks to many responders.

  • Jeez..."Threads" scared the s**t out of me, I was only 15 at the time and there was a lot of genuine fear around that something could kick off. Grateful those times are over...............?

  • See how the people behaved? California would have killed its own self and had not need for nuclear bombs to fall.

The 80's had the best nuclear films to date.

  • Best bait-and-switch EVER.

  • I saw it when I was nine, and had related nightmares for years. Just bought the DVD after not having seen it in 19 or 20 years, and it still unnerves me. Anthony Edwards is a damn good actor, and I love how there's a real question about whether it's real or not until the police disappear. That's what seals it for me. That sinking feeling--what a movie. By the way--check out 6100 Willshire in LA on Google maps--the diner's still there, so is the may building, and even the skyscraper.

  • man when i saw this movie i was surprised to know that it was the only movie i actually sat throught (except for bttf, jurassic park, coneheads, and spinal tap) its utterly one of my favorite movies

  • i swear this has to be one of the most coolest movie i have ever seen i mean throughout the whole thing from the phone call till the end my mouth was just hung open in surprise idk if thts even the right word miracle mile really makes u think

the one complaint i havbe is that i didnt like how it ended idk y but i just didnt

  • i was 4 and this movie scared me to death but i watched it again and again

  • This film freaks me out.

  • Excellent movie. I think they should remake this movie exactly this way again, but Harry and Julie should go with the cook and the other people that were inside the diner to antarctica. I'd go see it!

  • YES sandemus8, I think like you. NOW THAT WOULD of made a good movie!

  • LULZ

  • damn this movie scared the shit outa me, makes me feel uneasy every time i see it

  • I remember watching this movie when I was 9. I was already obsessed with the end of the world back then. This movie reenforced those feelings.

  • Great and intense movie! ...a little, surreal!

  • "listen i'm just a guy who picked up the phone."

  • wish it was made in widescreen.

I'm about to work on the movie and put it on youtube like I did for 84 charlie Mopic.

  • Don't do this, man. Some scenes may be promotional, but let people pay for their movies.

  • well if they never heard of it they sure not going to pay for it so if they watched it and like it like I did they just might buy it like I did. only wish it was in widescreen.

  • Exactly! But it's way too late, unfortunately. Too many cheap-ass cheaters out there.

  • This is happening!

  • J.J Abrams remade this movie in 2008, called it "Cloverfield."

  • are you retarded, get your sources right and watch Cloverfield, it has nothing to do with this movie

  • Both the endings are pretty much the same, except he put a monster in with the nuclear strike.

  • No, he's right.

  • Sources from official Cloverfold website:

It shares some elements with Miracle Mile, a 1988 film, The Blair Witch Project and The Host, a 2006 Korean film.

  • hm guess i was wrong, sorry

  • i always loved this movie. this and quiet earth.

  • I really lked this film. Can't get it in England though. Great trailer.

  • Didn't do any good in theaters some 18-19 yrs. ago and was panned by a lot of critics but overall not bad. Had weak scripting and some oddball characters, however the premise was enough to pull me in.

  • The best cult films flop in general release and arent understood by critics, usually because they are too challenging and different. After Hours had the same sort of reception in its 80s theatrical release, and it has a cult following now too.
