This guys tone sucks, IMO... and he's not really a "Blues" player.... but, a guitarist who can plat at some blues. Kinda cocky.. definitely annoying.. haha!
Makes me wonder why he's on stage in front of lots of people and I'm playing at home?... ha!
not sure how many blues guitar gods this solo is channeling....Buddy Guy, Freddie King, Otis Rush, Albert Collins...just to name a few!! NICE solo man.
Too many fx OK I don't get it... don't you like the sound of the guitar? Why play traditional music with all that "crap " messing up your sound? I know I'm in a minority.
with the rasta neck strap... I'm sure you're familiar with Bob Marley. your sound at one point in the video sounds like the solo from "stir it up." could you please post a video lesson on the solo or let me know where i can find the tab, I have looked everywhere and I really want to learn the solo, its one of the wailers greats. Thanks!
My man. You are throwing down some tasty licks there. A lot of unique phrasing too I really dig it. In the land of blues guitarists where it's easy to get caught up sounding a lot like someone else, you are truly sounding exactly like yourself. Keep it up. I live in VA. Any chance you play shows down this way?
I like how you seem to fuse so many different scales together for your solo. I'm personally finally starting to step out of my pentatonic comfort zone lately...watching your videos gives me ideas, to be honest.
Love the music my brother, Blues comes from the heart and you were feeling it my man, down deep in your soul. Lots of great players never get the Blues, they just don't have the "soul" to get what is going down. You got it man, keep it coming, great job! "Music knows no color" & "Play Loud, Play Proud"....
Just discovered Bill Perry on a trip to Sugar Loaf, N.Y. Check out this man. How he never was in the main stream amazes me. Was a guitar player for Richie Havens among others. Died about 4 years ago.

The playing is fine but the tone is a bit...well "un-stratty" if you know what i mean. Maybe the quality of the audio makes it worse. But can't knock the guys skills.
I've been playing guitar since 1970....and by far, the best blues solo (in my opinion is "Red House" (studio version) by Hendrix. If you're a young guitarist, make Red House your inspiration for the blues.
I think it ought to be a You Tube rule that to post a negative comment you have to pay for the privilege by posting a video of you doing something better.
@Lyraka Thanks for your kind words. Much appreciated. Really just trying to spread some love and learn to play guitar:). The audio on this video is terrible and really does not show what the tone really is, which is totally clean w/ slight overdrive, but the upload at the time made it sound like a chorus. Check out "Red House Hendrix blues licks but more jazz approach" for better audio on the same clip. I got a better computer. best, Thaddeus
@Lyraka Yoou hit the nail right on the head there, the man has feeling, lots of musicians can never "feel" the Blues like this brother does. Anyone can play 12 bars, but it takes feelin to really play 12 bars. Love the blues, love the way this man plays excellent work my brother, keep it comin, Peace & Love for the Blues
Im a huge fan of Thaddeus, he avoids the normal blues cliches, and really has his own kind of phraseing. The begining really reminded me of a horn, it was jazzy, bluesy and terrific! At 3;14 its just pure musical bliss! I hope I will have the priviledge to be taught by thaddeus when I go to berklee this summer for the 5 week program. great style!
Smart, musical phrasing, alley cat tone (in a good way). Kept my attention all the way, and my respect. Nice solo. Just proves you can play rockin' blues on a strat and not channel SRV. So few get that. T.H. is his own man.
he is actually real good;he uses that tone kinda horn like.underneath them blues phrases are some serious fusion runs.i admit blues sounds better clean but everyone needs to have their own tone.great job -this cat wails!
Dude looks like a cornball to me. He can play but I still get the vibe hes trying to impress. And his tone sounds like a shredder with blues licks under their belt. WARM THAT TONE UP A BIT MAN! sheesh.
Dude has a cheesy vibe about his playing. Like hes paying more attention to how he can impress and not to feeling the song. You look at any great Blues guitarist when they play. They completely tune out and its all heart. This guy aint got it.
i agree... the sad thing is, well, besides that, is that the guy is actually pretty good techincally... if he only had the heart and soul. They should also class this as jazz solo, more so than a blues solo.
Wow!!! Hey Thaddeus, That's Some Incredible Blues Guitar Playing Style You Got There, Man!! And What Feeling Too!! Just Awesome!!! Keep It Up, Bro!!! You Are The Greatest!! :)
Wow,recently Thaddeus Hogarth, and I can't say how amazing he is to me.I'm a 20 year old Blues artist from Baton Rouge, and i must say,he is now one of my heros.Reminds me alot of Jimmy Herring mixed with Eric Gales, but he's still on a whole other universe.Awsome Thaddeus, keep it up sir.

really makes it cry around 1:54. good usage of the wah. I found the first part was missing a little for me. Not that I can do better, but i mean in that, it was technically brilliant but lacked a sort of fundamental linear motion, emotionally for me. Left me expecting one thing and getting another at every lick. I guess that's ok. just commenting. Really outstanding though overall. Well done.
Thanks for the comps...really the audio on the video is out of phase and sounds like a phase shifter which is not true at all. I use a close to clean tone. Check out this video reposted among my other vids.
He sounds like he is playing just fine with the backing music, it all sounds pretty much improvised to me what the guitarist is playing, and I don't think it sounds off to the background music at all, this was really great blues solo in my opinion, and hearing that strat sing makes me want to get one ASAP!!!
Hey man, this may come as a shock to you, but have that guitar adjusted. Neck rod, action, pick up height etc.... Fenders are really great guitars, and mostly better than some overrated very expensive other brands...
It was very good but I kept on thinking about the version of Red House done by Hendrix and this was nothing even close to that. Also, he seemed to ignore the beat his band was laying down for him
I dig it

That's not clapton, its Thaddeus Hogarth. I studied with the guy at Berklee. Coolest guy you'll ever meet.

He's got the same sound as Michael Angelo Batio on nuclear blues. Cool!

Sounds jazzish/fusionish more than blues. You kinda look like Hootie. Good playing bro! Check out my vids.

btw, my last comment was to Homofob07's comment about his dislike of the Strat
ghostzapper2006 3 years ago
sounds good, but he aint with the background music at all, hahaha, what the heck.
flyfish777 3 years ago
He sounds like he is playing just fine with the backing music, it all sounds pretty much improvised to me what the guitarist is playing, and I don't think it sounds off to the background music at all, this was really great blues solo in my opinion, and hearing that strat sing makes me want to get one ASAP!!!

What can I say Thaddeus is the Best!!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
i hate the guitar, the strings are not able to be played on they are like 10 cm from the fretboard
Homofob07 3 years ago
that just means you gotta have strong, real guitar player's, fingers dumb dumbs
ghostzapper2006 3 years ago 3
Hey man, this may come as a shock to you, but have that guitar adjusted. Neck rod, action, pick up height etc.... Fenders are really great guitars, and mostly better than some overrated very expensive other brands...
polowonder 3 years ago
The other message was also a reaction to Homofob07's ..... Not a comment on Thaddeus... You rock man, like it 100%
polowonder 3 years ago
It was very good but I kept on thinking about the version of Red House done by Hendrix and this was nothing even close to that. Also, he seemed to ignore the beat his band was laying down for him
4portswitch 3 years ago
its blues man you dont need a beat its all about the feel
PiperChris4 3 years ago
Yeah, the feel around the beat.
