  • I dig it

  • 53 people are tone deaf, if u dont get his music please dont comment!!!

  • Play it Taddy !!!

  • yeah just want to add that anyone who judges someone's tone based on a youtube video, doesn't know anything. This guy is great!

  • yo who the fuck are you ? i looked at your video and some guy on here called vizionaire and i am now blown the fucc away you are truely great man

  • you are crazy people that disliked...this guy plays awesome

  • Nice one me `ol china ,

  • This guys tone sucks, IMO... and he's not really a "Blues" player.... but, a guitarist who can plat at some blues. Kinda cocky.. definitely annoying.. haha!

Makes me wonder why he's on stage in front of lots of people and I'm playing at home?... ha!

  • @margovallen cause you're an asshole?

  • Comment removed

  • @joggingformoney No, not at all. In fact, I'm opinionated but, very sweet :-)

  • You have a really good feeling

  • Great sound! Fantastic playing! Love it.

  • Fantastic!!! Loving my Alpha Drive.

  • not sure how many blues guitar gods this solo is channeling....Buddy Guy, Freddie King, Otis Rush, Albert Collins...just to name a few!! NICE solo man.

  • .....wonderful.

  • Too many fx OK I don't get it... don't you like the sound of the guitar? Why play traditional music with all that "crap " messing up your sound? I know I'm in a minority.

  • Could be great. Not quite there yet, Thaddeus, but keep it up. It'll come.

  • Hate the tone.

  • Hvor lækkert!

  • with the rasta neck strap... I'm sure you're familiar with Bob Marley. your sound at one point in the video sounds like the solo from "stir it up." could you please post a video lesson on the solo or let me know where i can find the tab, I have looked everywhere and I really want to learn the solo, its one of the wailers greats. Thanks!

  • My man. You are throwing down some tasty licks there. A lot of unique phrasing too I really dig it. In the land of blues guitarists where it's easy to get caught up sounding a lot like someone else, you are truly sounding exactly like yourself. Keep it up. I live in VA. Any chance you play shows down this way?

  • I like how you seem to fuse so many different scales together for your solo. I'm personally finally starting to step out of my pentatonic comfort zone lately...watching your videos gives me ideas, to be honest.

  • bad ass!!!!!

  • huh???

  • real nice could feel the pain liked the jazz influence there bro thanks

  • Love the music my brother, Blues comes from the heart and you were feeling it my man, down deep in your soul. Lots of great players never get the Blues, they just don't have the "soul" to get what is going down. You got it man, keep it coming, great job! "Music knows no color" & "Play Loud, Play Proud"....

  • Just discovered Bill Perry on a trip to Sugar Loaf, N.Y. Check out this man. How he never was in th main stream amazes me. Was a guitar player for Richie Havens among others. Died about 4 years ago.

  • Just discovered Bill Perry on a trip to Sugar Loaf, N.Y. Check out this man. How he never was in th main stream amazes me. Was a guitar player for Richie Havens among others. Died abot 4 years ago.

  • I was at this gig! was a great night!

  • man i hate wah !

  • @piccirox WHAT!!! how can anybody hate wah! its one of the greatest pedals ever!

  • tiene un bando en la cabeza ese, pero esta bueno el solo ;), aguante el blues!

  • The playing is fine but the tone is a bit...well "un-stratty" if you know what i mean. Maybe the quality of the audio makes it worse. But can't knock the guys skills.

  • Guthrie Govan - Larry

    Look that up, nuff said

  • I've been playing guitar since 1970....and by far, the best blues solo (in my opinion is "Red House" (studio version) by Hendrix. If you're a young guitarist, make Red House your inspiration for the blues.

  • If you like this guy you would love joe bonamassa.

  • one of the most gifted blues players I´ve ever seen. Thaddeus, you are really good - and I do mean it!

  • Nice playing - I would add a little more bottom to the tone

  • This guys got an ear.........an F'n monstter

  • lyraka-I agree. He's balancing technique and emotion/feel pretty well. A lot of guitarists at this level get lost in technique and lose heart.

  • Amazing tone, amazing taste!!!

Wish to know which scale starts at 0.30... that note is soooo cool!!! Could anyone please tell me? Thanx!!!!

    Greetings from Spain!!!!

  • Thaddeus, you got some skills man :)

  • I think it ought to be a You Tube rule that to post a negative comment you have to pay for the privilege by posting a video of you doing something better.

I love the way you play dude.

    Big Ron

  • @Lyraka Thanks for your kind words. Much appreciated. Really just trying to spread some love and learn to play guitar:). The audio on this video is terrible and really does not show what the tone really is, which is totally clean w/ slight overdrive, but the upload at the time made it sound like a chorus. Check out "Red House Hendrix blues licks but more jazz approach" for better audio on the same clip. I got a better computer. best, Thaddeus

  • @Lyraka Yoou hit the nail right on the head there, the man has feeling, lots of musicians can never "feel" the Blues like this brother does. Anyone can play 12 bars, but it takes feelin to really play 12 bars. Love the blues, love the way this man plays excellent work my brother, keep it comin, Peace & Love for the Blues

  • @Lyraka This man is clearly in a league of his own, period. Youngstown, Ohio

  • That's the ultimate, playing an extended solo with so other pros.. Check out my blues improv.

  • wow, that is very original. like it!

  • Im a huge fan of Thaddeus, he avoids the normal blues cliches, and really has his own kind of phraseing. The begining really reminded me of a horn, it was jazzy, bluesy and terrific! At 3;14 its just pure musical bliss! I hope I will have the priviledge to be taught by thaddeus when I go to berklee this summer for the 5 week program. great style!

  • Smart, musical phrasing, alley cat tone (in a good way). Kept my attention all the way, and my respect. Nice solo. Just proves you can play rockin' blues on a strat and not channel SRV. So few get that. T.H. is his own man.

  • The orchestra behind him doesn't look too impressed. They all look like they are ready to fall asleep or are really pissed. LOL

  • Nice!

  • he is actually real good;he uses that tone kinda horn like.underneath them blues phrases are some serious fusion runs.i admit blues sounds better clean but everyone needs to have their own tone.great job -this cat wails!

  • How does he get that that tone?

  • kickass,dude!good job!!!

  • HORRRIBLE TONE I thought I was listening to the GroundHogs ..............

  • he's wellbetter than i will ever be...he should be in a packed smoky bar..not on stage at some orchestral hall

  • I thought he's a passionate guitarist too. You say he ain't soulful watch it again.

  • Dude looks like a cornball to me. He can play but I still get the vibe hes trying to impress. And his tone sounds like a shredder with blues licks under their belt. WARM THAT TONE UP A BIT MAN! sheesh.

  • Dude has a cheesy vibe about his playing. Like hes paying more attention to how he can impress and not to feeling the song. You look at any great Blues guitarist when they play. They completely tune out and its all heart. This guy aint got it.

  • i agree... the sad thing is, well, besides that, is that the guy is actually pretty good techincally... if he only had the heart and soul. They should also class this as jazz solo, more so than a blues solo.

  • This guy has all the skills and knowhow. There, I said something positive

  • juat aight for me, nothing to write home about, plays with passion though

  • guitar is AXL badwater...it seems to me

  • nice tone! awesome!

  • Awesome!!!!

    Grandma mary

  • The phrasing is terrible. Nice licks, but the way theyre connected together just doesnt flow for me.

    :¬/

  • Wow!!! Hey Thaddeus, That's Some Incredible Blues Guitar Playing Style You Got There, Man!! And What Feeling Too!! Just Awesome!!! Keep It Up, Bro!!! You Are The Greatest!! :)

  • increible.....como se llama?

  • se llamo Thaddeus Hogarth. ....Sorry I don't know if that makes sense .I just thought i'd try.any native spanish speakers want to help?

  • thanks¡

  • Wow,recently Thaddeus Hogarth, and I can't say how amazing he is to me.I'm a 20 year old Blues artist from Baton Rouge, and i must say,he is now one of my heros.Reminds me alot of Jimmy Herring mixed with Eric Gales, but he's still on a whole other universe.Awsome Thaddeus, keep it up sir.

  • amazing!!!!

  • really nice ! that was one burning solo...

do you have the tablatures for that ?

  • Yeah, that´s blues!

    I wish to know:

    a) the name of the player;

    b) the name of the CD.

I want to buy it; he plays fantastic!!!!

  • Just a shot in the dark for #1.) Thaddeus Hogarth? Hah.

  • Hi BluesFritz, yeah that's my name..Thaddeus Hogarth. You can check out any cd's at my website which is listed in the description for this video. The cd with the most guitar is probably "Live at Bose". sorry for the poor audio quality of the audio on this vid...it sounds like it is out of phase..there is another version of this video here in my videos that has the correct audio. Best T

  • Nice harmonic lines. Sounds great, loads of feel

  • I dig his playing. Would like to hear some without the pedals and effects. Will check his channel for more. Nice job, mate.

  • holy sh:t ... kimbo play blues ... ;)

  • HAHAHAH

  • HOLY COW

  • Awesome!! By far the best blues solo I have heard for a very long time. Whats the name of the song (wonna buy the CD)?

  • This is an excerpt from a show I did with a big band, Jimi Hendrix Tribute..the song is Red House...a standard blues form. Check out my website for CD's. Website is my name, listed in the description for this video.

  • The guitar sounded drunk- in a good way haha

It kept slurring (especially at the beginning)

  • easily the coolest blues solo ive heard in a while , Atlast somone who is not afraid to play with good technique and stray from blues/pentatonic scales :P which most blues players seem to consider a negative trait itseems.

    5 starred

  • Totally agree with you man, most blues but also rock players consider as negative the use of pentatonic scales... Imho, they are the very soul of the blues and they are a "must" to give solos a sense... I think they're pretty underrated, and lots of people try to develop good solos without them but most of them just fail. Pentatonics should be teached in schools....

  • ... I think you said you agreed with him, then advocated the opposite of what he described. =P

  • hahahaha don`t fuck with Kimbo Slice!!!!

  • surfco,

this guy is a pretty good blues guitarist...I don't know what your problem is. You don't have to be the best ever to be good and have people enjoy your music. Grow the fuck up.

  • 000grungehead000, that's my opinion man. If you don't like my opinion I have 2 words for ya.... S*ck It!

  • omg lol

  • Hootie and the Black Fish

  • 'Thats ok, coz I still got my fender strat!!!"...Haha no reply from the crowd.

  • REDHOUSE!!!!

    long live hendrix

  • Excellent.

  • hootie still f word sucks.

  • I didn't know Hootie could play guitar...:p

  • DAmn! I just gave this video a 1 star rating.

  • this video is to good to not have 5 stars

  • yeah, I just gave it 1 star.

  • awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol

  • damn, damn, damn baby. somebodys got the blues.

  • one word SICK..!!

  • is he using chorus? if so...why?

  • Very unique sound...love the phrasing, little rests here and there letting the understated groove breathe.

  • bad

  • Ehh 3 stars.

  • Very impressed, agree entirely with the guy below...such a treat to see something spontaneous.

Can't stand these " Blues improvisation " fakes.

  • nice to hear some originality and not a bunch of copped licks. thanks thaddeus. definitely worth the time.

  • whats his name,, hotie,, from the blowfish,, right///??/

  • no thats not darius rucker.

  • is he playing red house?

  • Yes

  • Thank God. Phenomenal. Wonderful musicianship. Is that a word? Yeah, that's a word - I've had a few. Oh well, good to know there are actually some guitarists I can idolize on u-tube.

Where do i get a CD?

    Take care! ;-)

  • Fabian,

Good to hear from you...really great playing on your videos too...I am not so sure about the jokes though..hahaha!!

    t

  • I really didn't like the tone. Everything else - great job!

  • Hey thanks for the comps...I feel bad since the audio is not representative of my tone at all..it sounds phased and warbly. It should be completely clean. I reposted this vid again but I left this one since it was getting so many hits. Check out the other vid, it has better audio and video or check out some of my other vids to hear my real tone. best T

  • No, the tone really comes through. Your wah stuf is great. Amazing playing you're up there with the greats

  • is this you playing thaddeushogarth?

  • Hi,

Yeah that's me, but the audio is all warbled. I uploaded a clearer and cleaner version of this video. Also check out some of my other vids. I also have a website with some more vids on also..

    best

    Thaddeus

  • cool man ur frickin awesome. where was this played at?

  • Thanks Mon...this was at the Berklee Performance Center, Boston Massachusetts

  • really makes it cry around 1:54. good usage of the wah. I found the first part was missing a little for me. Not that I can do better, but i mean in that, it was technically brilliant but lacked a sort of fundamental linear motion, emotionally for me. Left me expecting one thing and getting another at every lick. I guess that's ok. just commenting. Really outstanding though overall. Well done.

  • its wayne baker brooks and he's real quick and clean

  • i love how RIGHT as he starts playing u see the hilarious face... lol thats awesome

  • wow really good i wanna start learning blues can any one give me some good songs to learn???

  • Five long years by buddy guy awesome blues song

  • five long years by freddie king

  • nice playing, I find the tone he's using a bit much though

  • Thanks for the comps...really the audio on the video is out of phase and sounds like a phase shifter which is not true at all. I use a close to clean tone. Check out this video reposted among my other vids.

  • wow epic face-gasm at the start

  • jesus. this guy doesn't fuck about, does he thts soul!

  • This guy doesn't fool around! Great stuff man!

  • THAD! I used to study theory with this guy! He is such a great dude

  • That is some great playin...ahh the blues, music for the soul, from the soul...!!!!

  • That's not clapton, its Thaddeus Hogarth. I studied with the guy at Berklee. Coolest guy you'll ever meet.

  • That was so soulful - this guy's awesome!

  • Good showmanship/

    Pretty good playing too

  • He's got the same sound as Michael Angelo Batio on nuclear blues. Cool!

  • sweet, really jazzy at some parts

  • :20 - :26 That's Eric Clapton sitting back there...haha j/k. Nice playing! //dan

  • holy crap that does look like eric clapton

  • how the fuck does that look like eric lol

    claptons white

  • LOL tru dat hahahah

  • Now thats some real good sh*t... i wanna play like that one day...

  • thatsa pimp

  • this guy is the real deal, great post, who is this?

  • Sounds jazzish/fusionish more than blues. You kinda look like Hootie. Good playing bro! Check out my vids.

  • La hace mucho de pedo al tocar, si lo hace muy bien. Puro show

  • btw, my last comment was to Homofob07's comment about his dislike of the Strat

  • sounds good, but he aint with the background music at all, hahaha, what the heck.

  • He sounds like he is playing just fine with the backing music, it all sounds pretty much improvised to me what the guitarist is playing, and I don't think it sounds off to the background music at all, this was really great blues solo in my opinion, and hearing that strat sing makes me want to get one ASAP!!!

  • you play the blues man

  • The Horn section looks real bored.

  • What can I say Thaddeus is the Best!!

  • that just means you gotta have strong, real guitar player's, fingers dumb dumbs

  • Hey man, this may come as a shock to you, but have that guitar adjusted. Neck rod, action, pick up height etc.... Fenders are really great guitars, and mostly better than some overrated very expensive other brands...

  • The other message was also a reaction to Homofob07's ..... Not a comment on Thaddeus... You rock man, like it 100%

  • It was very good but I kept on thinking about the version of Red House done by Hendrix and this was nothing even close to that. Also, he seemed to ignore the beat his band was laying down for him

  • its blues man you dont need a beat its all about the feel

  • Yeah, the feel around the beat.
