WAY to hard) andd I heard him bragging to some girls that he's so good at guitar.. I got my guitar, turned it up loud so they couldn't ignore me.. Impressed them with some sweeping and tapping.. The thing about GH is it inspires to play just by being in the position of holding a guitar like object- in this case it's the guitar controller, but the major difference is the skill involved, GH you just bash notes at the same point on the screen, the real instrument is better in so many mays. Many people who think because they can get a high score on GH also think they will be as good on a real guitar. Then find out they aren't and probably never will be. The game gives a totally unreal impression of what playing the guitar involves.

One YouTuber has said he's been playing the guitar for 35 years and is still mediocre. What matters is commitment and how many hours per week you you set aside for practice. I've also been playing guitar for 35 years. But persistance pays off.

I got guitar hero 3 years ago for christmas when i was like 11-12, and i wasent into music at all.

When i first heard the ending song "One" by Metallica that was it, i wanned to learn the guitar. So i picked it up that summer and practiced like hell. Now into my 3rd year soon, and now i lissen to lots of bands. From journey to john mayer to meshuggah. And i also stoped playing GH for that matter xD

I never understood why kids would spend hours upon hours and try to master guitar hero but not once would think to take that same amount of time and play the real thing. Just for an experiment, bring you're plastic Guitar controller and bring someone who knows how to play the real thing to a party and take a poll at the end of said party to see who's cooler. Real guitar is infinitely better, its not so limiting and in some instances it is easier (playing note for note approximations on 5 buttons isn't such a great idea all the time, Its like trying to play a massive solo on a guitar with 1 string and only 5 frets)

when I have friends over that don't know how to play real guitar, that is when Guitar Hero or Rock Band becomes almost indispensable, that game can get pretty fun!

I've been playing the guitar for over 4 years, and for me, playing Guitar Hero helps your fingers on the real guitar. It makes them more flexible. I've only been playing Guitar Hero for about a year, and, it has really improved the way I play on the fret board.

Oh and Steve Vai is a guitar god, no question about it!

@Emceetem depends on how much you practice and how dedicated you are. you can play for 35 years but if you only practice every few days you wont be good. im currently doing steve's 30 hour guitar workout schedule(10 hours a day, 3 days, then repeat).

My kids are grown now, and I've been trying to catch up- I'm hoping I can use the Rocksmith game to learn more stuff- I'm a rocker, but I'd really like to see some Jazz-influenced guitar in the game when it comes out- Django Reinhardt, Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Jerry Reed, etc. Not necessarily rockin' stuff, but if you can play Django, you can play anything...
