  • I'd love to see this, but even this early in its run it's already disappeared from all of the theaters around me. It's obviously not lighting the American box office on fire.

  • Simon Mayo is a fuckin idiot

  • Regarding the use of Gina Carano and her MMA background, I am reminded of two other stories. The first is Serenity by Joss Whedon in which Summer Glau did her own fight scenes. The second story was Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, also featuring Glau, in which part of her portrayal of a terminator required her to fight as well. Her performance was much more than that and she was great (e.g.season 2, episode 4). Glau is a great actress and I wonder if Carano can become one as well.

  • Aaaarrrrg, it always drives me crazy, when he pronounces the French "femme" wrong!

    X-D

  • @kermodeandmayo - volume?!

  • I heard Gina Carano wants to be a female Bond. The main thing with the film I think is that there was not enough action. I know moviesm should have substance over style, but when the lead is a trained MMA fighter you should go for the action. I would be mad if I went to see a Jackie Chan film and he hardly did any fighting, he's not exactly put in for his serious acting ability.

  • I have just watched Haywire and it is possibly one of the worst films of all time. I am actually shocked how bad that was and it also had one of the most surreal scenes of all time! It really has to be seen to be believed.

  • @Disloy Hey, I saw it and thought it was arty crap, very slow pace and Kermode says the opposote in answer to critics having a pop, he is so wrong on this one, it was just bollox

  • I thought Haywire was a decent watch. Pretty predictable plots and narrative, felt like i was watchin a bourne film replaced with a woman protagonist. Saying that the cinematography was rather sophisticated and i enjoyed the gritty realism of the fight sequences i wasnt aware that Gina Carano was debuting in cinema with this performance and i applaud her efforts. probably give it 3/5, nothing new or very stimulating but it parodied the conventions of spy films (for me) in a more enjoyable way

  • did he see the same movie as me, it was rubbish

  • Bloomin' 'eck Kermode, it's shit.

  • HOW CAN THEY IGNORE THE CONSTANT PLEAS TO TURN THE VOLUME UP, DON@T THEY WATCH THESE

  • oh god mark this is awful you are disappointingly tolerant these days.

  • haha they read my review of haywire after mark stops talking :D

  • lol "so someone is fighting in one style and then someone else is fighting in another style", this guys a big Anderson Silva fan...

  • I got a big kick outta this movie.

It was nothing special really, but the thing of it is, a mostly exciting, not-overly-stupid action movie is a rarity these days, so when they do come along I'm always happy.

  • my volume isn't even half way up

  • I would rather have my testicles nailed to the back of a slow moving bus than watch five minutes of this turd fest. Special ops sexy chick goes rogue. Yawwwwwwn. Just give her slap tell her she looks fat and shave her hair off. NEXT!

  • I enjoyed it. Guilty pleasure.

  • Turn up the volume!!!

  • Well eh shes coming.

  • oh she's great at fighting, you shouldn't look at her like a girl. but there's where the fantasy goes wrong. even if lefties directors would like to make people think otherwise, a girl is a girl and cannot even take on the weakest man one-on-one. even a highly trained woman. i've seen a dwarf beat 5 big strong women.

  • @skinwalkerxxx That sounds like a hell of a Friday night...

  • @PhoenixWright101 don't forgot the oil!

  • @skinwalkerxxx Just because you can beat up all the girls in your kindergarten does not mean that's always the case. You'll see what I mean when you grow up.

  • @KillahMate oh i've offended your little girly heart?

  • @skinwalkerxxx Don't worry about it.

  • @skinwalkerxxx Dude you have no idea what you are talking about. I train MMA and I know several girls who can whoop many untrained mens asses and these girls aren't even pros. Gina Carano is a very capable pro fighter. The fact you think you could beat her in a fight shows how delusional you are.

  • @aikighost yea but most trainers are usualy delusional. you see these girls as little experiments. but they will never be more than they are. I know a soccer coach who was exactly like that. real psycho.

  • shit on my AIDs

  • I love the hand position at 5:00. I've seen it before in numerous videos of him. I'll name it the 'Kermode Special'. For future reference, a reverse Kermode Special would be where the left hand is extended out further than the right.

  • For those film fans who aren't into MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) or the UFC (The biggest company promoting mma) "cage-fighting" has moved on from the early days. Nowadays all fighters are well versed in all disciplines of fighting: wrestling, jiu-jitzu, boxing, etc. They follow strict, often organic, diets, train 7-days a week and maintain a dedicated lifestyle. The film I haven't seen; but Gina Carano was the top-level female fighter of Strikeforce company, since been incorporated into the UFC.

  • Uh, I wouldn't call Banderas or M Douglas a 'thesp'. I mean can they own a stage and deliver a Shakespearean solioquy? Course not.

  • This is probably a great video. I'll never know, as I can't hear it.

At least you unlocked it for people outside the UK, so thanks for that.

  • The guy uploading these, please can you put the volume up! It's getting ridiculous I keep having to turn my speakers to maximum to hear it properly then get deafened by the next thing I watch.

  • Wish more films had new faces in them Michael Douglas is always Michael Douglas less well known actors and new faces in films make them much more engaging to me .

  • dang i gotta watch this

  • Boxer vs. Kick boxer. I want to see that.

  • Far too quiet. Even with the volume at full its not loud enough

  • @emilioestevezz are you familiar with the speaker icon in your system tray?

  • The original MMA cage fights _were_ one style against another, with no time limits or holds barred. Some of that footage is not for the faint of heart. Now, MMA is homogenised and all of the fighters look similar to each other, train in similar ways and do it all for the money and not the sake of their martial art.

  • @aeropagitica still awesome and exciting, and is the closest thing to real fighting that would ever be sanctioned.

  • @aeropagitica I have the first four UFCs on DVD, and still count the very first fight of the very first UFC as one of the most barbaric fights I've ever seen. A punch and striker vs. a sumo. It really encapsulated the true spirit of the UFC... testing one style against another, which never really happened. And now it's not like that at all... MMA is its own thing. I love those early UFCs though, because they were batshit insane.

  • @SethHesio sounds interesting, is that 1st fight u talk about on utube?

  • @RoathRipper Probably somewhere. It's amazing. They're worth buying if I'm honest, all the fights are very interesting. It was a great idea in its original form, style against style, no weight classes, no rules, no time limit just get in the cage in fight. Awesome. I highly recommend buying the first four.

  • These videos are way too quiet, I have to crank everything up to full to hear it even okay...

  • The only Soderbergh film I particularly liked was Traffic. The Oceans films were utter crap.

  • @Muskateering I agree, but I did like Erin Brokovitch aswell, but Traffic is his masterpiece.

  • @shawndimery without a doubt. It's a fantastic film.

  • I would like to go on a date with Gina Carano... I'm not sure if this wish is enough to warrant me paying to see the film.

  • @SethHesio I've arranged that for you, but Ms Carano does insist you go and watch her film first. Otherwise, you'll have nothing to talk about over pudding...

  • @vrooomuk Thank you, that's kind of you to take the time to do that.

  • can't be bothered to go and watch haywire

  • This film sounds like fun ,great cast and Gina Carano she can really kick arse .

  • i am going to watch it right now :)
