  • Good stuff to know here, glad I watched all of it.

  • what makes the high pitched noise that I hear? I mean I can hear high pitches from electronics when others can't but I can also hear the same noise when I'm not near any electronics.

  • @MirageScience look up tinnitus

  • Who was the kid who killed his mother? The writer in me would like to read more about that case; the story is horrific and sad.

  • I don't believe a person can ever exhibit deviant physical behavior after incurring brain damage, UNLESS they are also mentally handicapped such as mental retardation. Brain scans cannot explain cognitive thinking. Cognition is of the mind only, and I believe that the brain can only determine whether you are capable of cognitive thinking or not. NOT affect behavior, behavior psychological only.

  • @philsnk You should look up the infamous case of Phineas Gage. His incident provided neuroscientist with a biological perspective on what you consider cognition.

  • Awesome

  • Also, will I need chemistry to study this branch of psychology?

  • I find this absolutley fascinating. I was wondering if anyone could advise me? I'm a 17 year old student studying in England, and Psychology is a career that I would love to go in to. I am thinking about perhaps specialising further after my degree in a area shown in the video. I was just wondering what the course in the video refers to...is it cognitive neuroscience? or neuropsychology? I was also wondering about career options after this? Any information would be a great help! Thank you, Robyn

  • This video is part of a series of 6. The lectures are from a course in neuroscience, with an emphasis on neuropsychology and neuropsychiatry.

As to career options: follow your heart. Do what you enjoy and find interesting.

  • @robynoo I'm a student at the University of Texas at Austin pursuing a BS in Neurobiology. I'm taking a class called Neurobiology of Disease in which the material in this video is being covered. I would say that if you're more so interested in the physical understanding of neuroscience, then you should look into Neurobiology. If you're more interested in theory, then Psychology is the way to go.

  • All 6 Brain Mind Lectures can be purchased from the BrainMind website and from Amazon.

This is a 6 hour, 3 DVD Set

  • Great Video!*****

  • Its hard to think that people who have schizophrenia may not know it. I didnt know wtf was going on with me until I experienced my acute psychosis. After that it became clear that I was schizophrenic.

  • i find these things really interesting !! and i think i am experiancing hallucinations. its been for years and yea, i told my mum what i am feeling at that times. we will see what we are going to do with it. i dont think i have schizophrenia.. well.. i hope not. if anyone knows about these things and could help me see whats wrong with me plz reply !! :D and thanks

  • depending on the nature of the hallucinations you might want to think about speaking to a psychiatrist. what kinds of things do you experience during a hallucination?

  • Well thanks. it has been 2 weeks to experience any hallucination. I think its from stress .. Im sure that i dont have Schizophrenia, but hallucinations maybe. Its like im disconnecting with the world around me and i see and have the feeling that everything gets larger .. too large and the voices are too loud.. i dont know if they are real voices that become loud or imaginary. Umm.. i try to 'wake up' and i do so, but i have to really try to stay focused and not get lost again when this happens.

  • @jaoenjdfsdf temporal lobe epilepsy..macroscopia things being larger is a common symptom as are hallucinations, hope your okay. I have this same problem.

  • 8:50

    Wicked MSPaint work

  • Amazing video by the way! I learned so much. I'm taking an online psychology college course and I learn better from educational videos for some reason...Lol. Thank you!

  • thank you so much for this video. it really helped me understand my illness a lot more.

  • Just curious...what kind of illness do you have. I find psychology and the brain fascinating.

  • bipolar and schizophrenia.

  • But not all people with schizophrenia and symtpoms of such have an abnormal MRI. Why is that?

  • yes, that's what we really want on youtube. thanks for sharing

  • wow, that's what we want on youtube. Superb. Love it love it love it.

  • I saw a real angel face to face no drugs, lies, jokes, mischief, illusions, delusions, or hallucination possible my good friends! It has completely ruined my life and I don't even remember the exact amount of hospital admissions (police involvement because as I also feel it touching me and way worse often. Screaming for help 20 hours a day for a year and a half. What I saw was no brain malfunction. When ppl finally discover life in space they will find that it was already here fucking with me! PEACE!

  • lol

  • So schizophrenia happens in what part of the brain? What is schizophrenia exactly? I know its the whole delusional and hearing voices, but scientifically? Is it the mis-firing of neurons that triggers random perviously heard sentences to repeat themselves in your head? Hence the whole "other voices"? What exactly happens in the brain when a schizophrenic is hallucinating or hearing things??

  • The cellular activity of the body will be equal to the cellular activity of the brain. For example, if there is a 30% decrease in nerve energy flow interferences with a subluxated atlas, meaning an atlas that is not centered and in a neutral position beneath the skull. The percentage of cellular brain activity will be = to the cellular activity of the body and the frame will reflect that same percentage in asymmetry of the body. (Upcspine)

  • Take note of the outside structure of the body of people that have Schizophrenia.

This is an indication that things are not good inside the body. The nerve opening is small in between the disks. Therefore any abnormality will disrupt brain to body communication. Go to upcspine and find an upper cervical specific doctor in your state. Dont wait for symptoms. For anyone any age, must use X rays and scientific instrumentation.

Dont go to full spine or diversified chiropractors.

  • Antipsychotics cause extream disphoria which leads to violence and suicide, take away lipido and cause impotence and make you fat. Ultimately they cause brain damage shrinking the brain. Please go to Yahoo and type in "Horrible Truth About Psychiatric Drugs" and also do the search "Documented Proof Psychiatric Drugs Shorten Lifespan". To searches to find information no psychiatrist will tell you.

  • wait by phychiatrist drugs does that means the coping pills some people mostly children take for some hyperactiveness or something like that??? because i wanna know. if its coping pills i gotta talk to one of my classmates who takes those pills.

  • no offense but if someone has schizophrenia, getting fat would probably be the last thing that person's loved one's or even that person would be worried about

  • Right,s lets talk of the normative schizophrenic and their concerns. This is the most silly bourgeois sympathy for the other, I've ever read.

  • hakasmust go to the place hakaszer indor pppisn fyatt. I am pekl

    SO DOHUH THAT

  • i have very bad halutionations i see ppl that should be gone from this world they have had bad accidents some want me to join their "brotherhood" if anyone else has the same type of problems i do plz help and im talking about the dead ppl thing

  • that sounds very scary

  • See my YOuTube video:

    The Real Cure For Schizophrenia

  • wait if dreams are only seconds long then that one movie with tom cruse is total bullshit. no precogs

  • He wasn't disproving God he was just describing hallucinations pay attention in a classroom you wouldn't try to talk bout religion especially in a physiology class it is considered a science.

  • Humans have not one brain, but 4 brains :

reptilian, emotional, rational and immune. And mariruana multiply risks of Schizophrenia by 6. Take care !

  • Thanks for this video, very informative.

  • focusing on the physical structure of your "i-pod" will hardly ever tell you about the "good music"....everyone knows if you try combine neurophysics with psychology or any science focusing on the human phenomena it all ends in speculation..that sometimes work for you and somtimes not, depending on who good you are in manipulating socio-psychological statistics and other relevant data to "prove" your most favorite theorys. what is now called "science" may be a laughing case in a few years...

  • This guy always tries to disprove GOD. He should study MetaPhysics. Idiot. I'm Clairvoyaint (Psychic), not Schizophrenic.

  • you ever thought about having a frontal lobotomy?

  • idiot!go kill yourself and do us all a favour

  • 43 mins WTF

  • Jesus having a deadbeat hallucination for a father collapsed the seven firmaments into two, hand quicker than the eye, walking on water after turning it into wine, was good at drinking the Pharisees under the table, making money on his drinking skills, God put his money down, and Satan sat around.

    History perversing backwards using everyone

awaken dilligens succubus and incubus, making unemployment

  • Excellent lecture, takes me back to college.

  • very interesting vid... controversial in any way?

    *****

  • No idiot. Not everything has to be controversial. Stupid.

  • You're the idiot. There is controversy in this presentation regarding schizophrenia. I noticed ichosetheredpill gave this vid 5 stars and positive feedback. Exactly what is your malfunction asswipe? Want to see stupid? Look in the mirror...
