  • Braveheart is one of the best films of the 90s. Mel Gibson is a genius. Also, as it turns out, a real goof on set. Some of the outtakes are hilarious.

  • mel if u read this, im a scotsman. u did such a great movie . we are very proud of you. this is your finest work. brilliant work, . my kids willl folow u . thanks for that.

  • One of my favourite actors with Charlie Sheen and Sean Bean :)

  • braveheart was a phenomenal movie

  • The Gibson might be a little of kilter, but he can make a HELL of a movie. Braveheart was a powerful film..I never watched the "jesus" movie, I probably won't either. But Apocalypto was one of my favorites of ALL time. Way to go MEL!

  • i can never hate Mel Gibson, no matter what he does. fuck the media ;}

  • he was soo beautiful

  • OMG. At the end when he is genuinely laughing he is soo full of charisma and I just love him. He is so unbearably handsome in the most masculine way.

  • Mel is a legend.

  • Does he always speak with an American accent or has he sort of just naturally obtained it because of all the work he's done with it?

  • @RazrHack Around the mid-90s he started to lose his Australian accent so it was probably because of all the work he did with an American one.

  • Checkout any Braveheart video and youll find at least one British Troll, but thats okay they are just demonstrating to the world their own ignorance

  • Hate the way Americans pronounce Scotland

  • Let Mel answer the questions!

  • his smile......... <3

  • You have never met me so how can you so surely point out that I am not patriotic. I aint an arse kisser either you prick. FYI, the music videos on my channel are music videos I made for these young wannabe's. I don't necessarily like the music, in fact I dont, but thats why I say I am in London as I get more work for my business from these people who are willing to give me £££. See... more judging, you dont know me for shit, you must spend so much time judging others on here with yer tiny mind.

  • @MJPICKify i know your a little cunt,it comes across clear as day, tiny mind indeed! wigger boy

  • I feel for the guy...i hope he can get his life straightened out.

  • Mel is the most handsome man in the world! I love him and the way he acting.. My life wish ist to meet him!!! <3

  • @MI6TommyEnglish Yeh but the Scots did win at stirling and at Bannockburn (the end scene) The Scots were ruthless back then, but then got their asses kicked by the English about 500 years later forever.

  • @MJPICKify

What? a Scottish king inherited the English crown and created the United Kingdom and thus gave birth to the British Empire.....if anyone lost out forever 500 years later it was England you psuedo-history spouting moron.

  • @phr34kyy Actually, technically speaking, it was a Scottish Queen who created the United Kingdom. Queen Anne was the last Stewart monarch of Britain and the first to reign over the United Kingdom of England and Scotland - before her they were Kings or Queens of both an independent Scotland and an independent England. After her we had the Hanovarians and King George III was the first British monarch to reign over the United Kingdom of England, Scotland and Ireland.

  • @MJPICKify

Oh wait your English it figures, deny archived and accepted fact/history, your whole nations history was built on denial and lies and pompous self importance/faggotry.

  • @phr34kyy What the fuck do you know cunt. I was talking about 1746, the battle of Culloden when English fire power, canons and tactics wiped out the Scottish Jacobite army. The Jacobites where the Scottish rebels and from this day on a form of ethnic cleansing happened and the Scottish culture was diluted. The english banned the use of Gallic language, tartan, bag pipes and took the land from them. I am not English by the way you judging youtube cunt fuck. Suck cock gay boy.

  • @MJPICKify

Again pseudo-history, no languages where banned and the rebelion almost won single handedly because it was a UK uprising, their where English and Irish Jacobites as well, just when the calling to arms came into being, only the Scottish Highland jacobites showed up for the fight, their northern English counterparts pussied out like they always do, and thats why they marched to derby with lil to no resistance, cause the north turned a blind eye to them in support.

  • @MJPICKify

Also the English crown did not exist then it was dominated by Scotland as a Scottish King just united the Monarchy and sat in its place, thus it was a UK government army that crushed the rebelion under a prodominantly Scottish monarchy.

Also half the army was Scottish at the battle of Culloden, your a typical English degenerate, the very reason why the Empire failed was in English hands, worst mistake the UK ever made, letting England run the Empire for a change being fair.

  • @username1me Wrong every time cunt, im a catholic. HA! Half irish. So fuck off with your judging. If you met me you would be crying your little cunt out by now I promise. Why did ye pick a fight with me man! If you're not a hun then your the same as me surely and should be on the right side of the argument I had with some history geek. Just because my profile says my home town in London, doesn't mean I'm English, its a work thing. You keep judging and hiding behind yer computer. Im here.

  • @MJPICKify the little gay haha spoiled it for me,,,,to read or not to read with that start! never said you were english dickhead, just pointing out you're as patriotic as a pinecone,im hiding behind m8 computer hmm don't make me laugh, your nothing but an arse kisser,P.S whats with your taste in music 30 odd and a wannabe wigger !! jesus man

  • @phr34kyy The Stewart Kings had been overthrown twice during their reign over Britian. Oliver Cromwell did it in the early-to-mid 1600's and the Glorious Revolution did it again in the late 1600's under William of Orange. The Stewart line was restore under the protestant Queen Anne but when she died without producing an heir Parliament went to the Hanoverians for their next monarch. During the Jacobite uprising of 1715 George I reigned and during the Jacobite uprising of 1745 George II reigned.

  • The music of braveheart just gets me going....mel is the man..

  • he is acting all the time , even in Interviews coz he is an Actor, and Actor is an curse word in that context

  • Funny..."should we be in the other room when you crazy?"....I don't care what this mad did...he made MF Braveheart...

  • The interviewer is a bit chatty, but this was enjoyable none the less.

  • Mel Gibson = Genius

  • Both in "Braveheart" and "the patriot" he kills english. He must not like english very mush.

  • oh la la, mel

  • OMG. LOLOL, I JUST WATCHED BRAVEHEART, AND I THOUGHT HE ORIGINALLY HAD A SCOTLAND ACCENT OMG, AND I DIDN'T KNOW THAT MEL GIBSON PLAYED WILLIAM WAULUS. LOLOLOL

  • @bananahaa Yes it was quite good his Scottish accent..

  • I'm thoroughly convinced that Mel Gibson's personality is the equivalent of the three stooges into one body. Some times this can be good, sometimes it can be bad, but all the times he's got a lot going on up there and he's always talking to himself more then to the other people in the room.

  • mel gibson is the reincarnation of william wallace

  • Mel Gibson is perfect example of what chicks are all about and why they shouldn`t be allowed to vote. When a guy is nuts but good looking, then it`s OK. When he`s nuts and old then suddenly he is evil. This Oksana cunt would have never turned in those tapes in a million years if he looked like he does here.

  • Ahh,he is so charming..would you believe that time when you look in to his eyes, that he did what he did?And that people will call him monster, psycho, evil?I don't know.It is confusing, because eyes suppose to be mirror of y

  • I love mel..he has such a "braveheart" its too bad they caught him on the "edge of darkness" I think this is all a "conspiricy theory" but evidently he dosnt know "what women want" she should have kept this recording for a "ransom" until he agreed to pay her, but of course he would have been "mad max beyond thunderdome" well his comments only proves hes not such a "patriot" but i believe he's got a plan to "payback" for taking this to "the bounty" but hes still a "maverick" in my book

  • @munshkins hahaha thats good

  • Once arrested how will they get his mugshot, afterall, he is the "man without a face" too bad his wife didnt see the "signs" b4 she took her vows..and he shoulda known that she was no "pocohantas" thanks to all this he'll become the "bird on the wire" in prison..I bet now he wish he could rewind time and be "forever young" tabloids say it all started because she called him "tim" during intamacy he blames it on the "tequila sunrise" the tongue is such a "lethal weapon"

  • Oh man who is that hater talking about God not real. why should we believe you? You are younger than 200 years. Oh man you dont even know if you wil live tomorrow. Stop getting on like you know it all. I will never understand how man whose life is so limited could make a decision that there is no God. People existed before you and they will exist after. Therefore, buddy u are a finite being. Sorry to put you you in a box. right................lol u funny concusscarneo

  • This interviewer is a douche hes asking such stupid questions I can see why mel has snap'd a few times

  • MEL IS LEGEND... and he will be legend for all time that movies exist as art in human race :)

  • He looks hot rrgh ^^

  • just finished watching it for maybe 20th time, and no better movie will ever be created by human race...

  • In 2004, he directed and produced The Passion of the Christ, a controversial[2] but successful

  • NOT BASED ON THE TRUE HISTORICAL EVENTS!!!!!!!!

    but great for patriots.

mel gibsy is a great opportunist. ......all he had to do was side with Wallace, depict him as a blameless hero and put all the faults on the English. hollywood kida tv

  • @concussedcarneous do not speak of others unless you know for sure about them , mel gibson is the reincarnation of andrew murry who died at stirling , wallace got all the glory and money for the battle , and murry got dead, then murry reincarnated as mel gibson and took the glory back by playing wallace and getting paid millions ,it was universal balance repaid

  • @concussedcarneous all movies are not made for fun, they are inspired by god to be told the way god sees fit according to universal law. everything happnes for a reason and the story was told with many truths .

  • Comment removed

  • @concussedcarneous it only fails in your mind no one elses, besides if there no god why does it take the grays anotomy 1000 pages to decirbe the human body and all its magnificence. ????????? uh huh

  • Comment removed

  • @concussedcarneous i hope you heal your pain

  • @concussedcarneous Shut your innapropriate mouth up. God is not a perve like you. He's the almighty and he's sinless unlike YOU or any one else.

  • @concussedcarneous God is alive so soak it in. @AwsomWarrior Preach it! :)

  • @concussedcarneous no film gets by made with out concent from above, this film was depicted the way it was in real life many things were left out but it was true none the less

  • @concussedcarneous It is largely accurate. it is well known that English tyranny was present in that time period.

  • What a great movie, and Gibson is a legend! But that interviewer is fucking rude and annoying.

  • i like the move pay back he did finominal in that one

  • yeah, and its rude and annoying...=(

  • the interviewer stoppes Mel al the time..

  • Love you Mel, you are so cute.

  • Aside from Gladiator, this is my favorite historical movie.

  • The interviewer kept interrupting Mel. So f**king annoying!

  • MEL GIBSON IS A LEGEND

  • It's called cocaine.

  • but when u go nuts?

    it's horrible

    lol

  • Wow, admire your balls...the way you riddled him with blunt comments. "So when you go nuts, we should go into another room, right?"

I mean, I would be offended by that. Calling someone "nuts" can get to some people and it looked like you made him uncomfortable becuase he paused alot. Thats awesome though, I respect that and wished more interviewers, in whatever industry, would be more cutting and honest with their questions. Kudos

  • Wether you do or don't like Mel,you have to admit it : BRAVEHEART is a masterpiece !

  • AMEN- and Mel is cool

  • the only folk that really dislike braveheart are the english, am a scot n the only bad thing about it is that they didn't bother with a bridge for the battle of stirling, n the never added Andrew de Moray in, (hes the man that set up the tactics, and died a few months after the battle of stirling from battle wounds. but a did enjoy the film, thought it was class

  • Yeah, they totally skipped de Moray over. He was regarded as Wallace's best General. And yeah, what was that battle without the bridge? Didn't the Scots bottleneck the English army in the bridgehead and cut them down that way? They totally went Hollywood and fake, like the Scots just massacred a better armed, English army 3 times their size in an open field in a set-piece battle. The Scots are tough people, but at some point; sheer numbers prevail.

  • The movie focused on Wallace as the hero not his historical general.

  • Yes, and it shows how people have a fundamental "disconnect" from historical reality. I have read extensively about the real Wallace and his historical reality is far more complex and interesting than his Hollywood counterpart. It is too bad people pass on the real thing and opt for stylized, historically-inaccurate bullshit. They are missing out on a remarkable man's life and story.

  • @Paronomastic which is too bad, because the REAL Wallace was considerably more epic and interesting. I'm glad they made a movie about him. But I hate historical inaccuracy,

  • @guitarthroat the film was accurate according to god , it was told the ay karmic balance intendid mel gibson is the reincarnation of william wallace

  • @guitarthroat I agree what you said mate, but the Battle at Stirling Bridge is not myth - it's historical fact

  • @mensahcarrelle best film ever made

  • @mensahcarrelle No it's just a racist piece of shit.

  • @mensahcarrelle what women want he was perfect

  • beauuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • mel gibson is the only yank iv ever heard say scotland and edinburgh

    not skatland and edinboro

  • hes australian

  • Mel Gibson is from Australia, not USA.

  • Actually he's American.

  • He was born here. Then his father moved them to Australia.

  • what is mel gibson like outside of stardom? is he as nice as they portray him?

  • You are on a timeclock.....the actors cant talk as long as they would like....I have to cut them off sometimes...we have to go home with more than one answer....they understand....

  • @askjimmycarter Wait a second, are you saying your the man interviewing Mell?

  • "Now are you fun to be around when you go crazy?? Or should we be in another room...when you go nuts." LOL LOL

  • He seems like he could be the sweetest, most fun guy ever sort of like a big kid, but then when he goes to a dark place he is scary as hell. He's so honest too.

  • Mel hates the English because he has an allergy to irony.

  • i think he was very nervous at the begining before this guys ask him

  • it was probably English extras who were pelting him with potatoes and cabbages :)

  • braveheart and mel deserved every award it got (L)!

  • he has a funny mix of american and australian accent here

  • i got your nobles

clooney jolie edward northon loaf damon m6

  • best looking man EVER

  • @susanyana I would take Paul Newman in his time any day over gibson and Paul Newman was NICE!

  • Mel is a handsome Australian man. I wonder how his thought processes work.

  • "Australian man.." Larger, reptile wrestling and hating the English.

  • no, he was born in new york, later his dad took his family there so that his sons don't go to vietnam war

  • Mel is a great talent. He is awesome; he has entertained us for so long and is still full of surprises. Everyone has a dark side, only when his shows up, it's under the spotlight. He says himself he is seriously flawed! I hope his whacky sense of humour keeps him going. Looking forward to more of his films!!

  • Good film, but a lot of propaganda against the English

  • Jimmy Carter had his finger on Mel's temper/outbursts back here.

Is it mostly in the genes or mostly in the upbringing in Mel's case I wonder.....

He seems to be passive aggressive and then he snaps if pushed.

  • I would love to meet Mel Gibson. He's just so generous and sincere.

  • Excellent movie, not the best Mel Gibson's performance though

  • i donno- he is an amazing actor... and braveheart is prob my fav of his :)

  • Gibson = the best there is .... the truth

  • It's a really, really great film but he's an anglophobic tosser. The fact that he hates anything and everything English doesn't change the fact that Braveheart was a truely awesome film however.

That being said I enjoyed Patrick McGoohan's perfomance as Longshanks far more than I enjoyed Gibson's performance as Wallace.

  • agreed

  • how does he hate everything english? he's only demonstrating history.

  • Please. He's demonstrating history in a very biased and Anglophbic manner.

His two most famous films prior to the Passion of Christ place the English as cartoonish evil characters with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. He places a Nazi-German war crime on the British forces in the Patriot, Braveheart is (by his own admission) based on the works of the anglophobic 15th century Scottish author Blind Harry & he makes the English leaders out to be pure evil or cowardly layabouts (see Galipolli).

  • The version of history that Mel Gibson associates with is black an white. It has heroes and villians and nothing inbetween. It touches no political, economical or sociological elements of the time period he is trying to portray.

While being great action films and undeniably great cinema his version of history has no depth and no base in reality save for the characters he uses (which isn't true for Galipolli) or the battles that took place (which isn't true for Braveheart or the Patriot).

  • No it is not biased. You're ENGLISH!! of course you'd say that, the English did massacre the colonies and it was horiffic. They crown owned a quarter of the worlds terrain, this was won through conquest and pillaging. Braveheart was spot on, read any book about 12-14th century UK and you will see this is factual. I am an Australian and will tell you an Englishman to get FUCKED, you are the reason why all the ANZACS died... used them as a diversion while your forces snuck around the back. FUK U

  • Braveheart is factual only in so much as it had William Wallace, Robert theBruce and Edward Longshanks. Longshanks was a brutal tryant but was some way off of the psycopathe that he was portrayed as in the film. A psycopathe could not have brought about the reforms Longshanks did in England.

The Battle of Stirling Bridge actually had a bridge in, Wallace got no where near York, The Bruce was murder and usurper, the French bride of Edward II wasn't even born yet, there were no Irish involved.

  • The one real incident that Longshanks could be accuse of being overly brutal and a wr criminal in doign was the massacre at Berwik-upon-tweed but this happened before Wallace's rise.

Braveheart was an action film. A bloody brilliany action film but still one that barely skimmed the surface of the actual history of the event. I suggest reading Scottish Author Colin MacArthur's book "Brigadoon, Braveheart and the Scots: Distortions of Scotland in Hollywood cinema" for more info.

  • i never said anything about the Irish or even Stirling bridge, i dont need a history lesson, i can read as well, however the argument was about Gallipoli, and the matter of the fact remains that the crown used the young Australians and NZ's to cover their asses for easy passage into Turkey. You cant change history buddy. Live with it.

  • You said (and I quote) "Braveheart was spot on, read any book about 12-14th century UK and you will see this is factual" and that was what that part of my reply was addressing.

I addressed Gallipoli as well, but not in detail. In that campaign the Aussies had around 8709 KIA and 19441 WIA, the NZ's had around 2721 KIA and 4752 WIA, the Indians had around 1358 KIA and 3421 WIA

The UK had around 21225 KIA and 52230 WIA.

    Easy passage to Turkey indeed....

  • you have taken it out of context, im not talking about the whole campaign, im talking about Gallipoli, you cant mix statistics in a bid to sound sophisticated, at Gallipoli, the Australians were at the front line, ordered to be there by the crown, like i said, you cant change that.

  • The was no one specific battle of Gallipoli, Gallipoli WAS the whole Campaign. It was made up of 14 different land battles involving the UK, France the ANZACs, the Indians & the Turks.

The battles of the Gallipoli Campaign were ANZAC Cove, Helles, 1st Krithia, 2nd Krithia, 3rd Krithia, Gully Ravine, Sari Bair, Krithia Vineyard, Lone Pine, Suvla Bay, The Nek, Chunuk Bair, Scimitar Hill and Hill 60.

ANZAC Cove and Helles started on the same day, the first battle involved ANZAC's the other the UK

  • And as for Wallace and Braveheart, the conquest of England did occur by the Scottish, the English were defeated at Bannockburn, and they were oppressing the nations of the UK, enough said. Its a movie, of course they are gonna throw in fictitious angles in order to make it more enjoyable, though the English were barbaric, and they got what they deserved in the end. But this is the 21st century, you kinda have to move on from 700 years ago.

  • The Scot didn't come close to the conquest of England until 1745. The furthest the Bruce got was some raids into Yorkshire and Lancashire.

The Scots won at Bannockburn but were destroyed at the Battle of Halidon Hill 19 year later by Edward III.

I'm not living in the past I just dont like it when my countrys history is taken so far out of context. I agree that its a great film and the English were brutal in the 1300's but Gibson's film was almost pure fiction and your claims here are farcical.

  • man LET IT GO, i thought the english were fed up of complaining about braveheart, we all know it was a fictitious movie, just let us scots have something m8 :)

  • I am not sure what Gallipoli has to do with anything, but we all fought a common enemy.

I don't agree with what you said about Bruce being portrayed as honorable, he was portrayed as a coward accepting the English Kings bribes.

But I agree Braveheart was romanticized to such a degree that very little truth or fact remained.

The movie was great and gave many Scots a sense of identity or revived that feeling.

    Top film.

  • I got off topic a bit with Gallipoli.

The Bruce was portrayed as the only noble concerned with Scotland instead of his own personal interests, as being coerced into working with the English by his leaper Father. There was a scene in the film where the honorable and well meaning Robert the Bruce turns on his scheming and greedy father after being forced to betray Wallace. Which is totally out of character.

Despite this we can all agree that it was a great film.

  • Mornay, Lochlann, Bailiol etc were all portrayed as Noblemen.

Bruce was joint number one claimant to the throne & there is nothing in his life that can be described as cowardice accept maybe the fact he had to hide from the English crown for years on end while they attempted to assassinate him.

It irritates me also, that they portray the Scots like a bunch of merry peasants when in reality the nobles had massive clout.

  • Know it did not give Scots a sense of feeling, it gives 13 year olds a sense of "coolness" So they start shouting SNP and other crap. Apart from them the rest/most of us think its an ok movie that is fun to watch every now and then.

  • When I say Scots, the history aware scots are the minority compared with those who are not historically aware and the people who claim to be Scots worldwide, Americans, Aussies, Kiwi's, South Africans, Canadians etc, those who think of themselves as of Scottish decent, but not born in Scotland per-se.

I don't think the impact of that movie can be underestimated, so many talk of it with pride.

I am against the SNP fanatic fools also, but identity is important, Scots have perhaps more than most.

  • (...) The movie does deceive with numerous romantic inventions during the movie and it slanders Bruce chronically. But it go across a message to the world about Scotland and its people. Imagine the impact on tourism and the economy due to that film also.

  • Gallipolli - Mel Gibsons Film - has Englishmen drinking tea and swiming as English officers send Aussies to die in their place only for some benevolent Asutralian Officer to call everthing off.

Gallipoli - the reality - was that the Aussie were sent to the Nek to support the New Zealanders only to encounter stiff opposition and faulter. Australian officers on the scene continued to order the attack despite evrything going wrong and two British companies were sent to the Aussies in support.

  • The Australians fought as bravely at Gallipoli as any men in history have ever fought but the film Gallipoli (1981) is a piece of Anglophobic propaganda produce by two hardcore pro-independecne Australians and staring an very anti-English actor to portray the brave Aussies being scarificed in place of the British.

Aussie historian and author Les Carlyon said that the film unfairly portrays the British as cowardly layabouts as those two companies that were sent in support suffered heavilly.

  • some of the crimes that Edward befalled on scotland were horrendous don't dare defend their actions Edward massacred women and children in towns you really should read about some of his actions edwards worst actions were actually kept out of Braveheart

  • I didn't say that. Longshanks sacking of Berwick-upon-tweed was truley horific and for that alone he should be considered a brutal tyrant without mention of his other conquests in Scotland but Braveheart magnifies his flaws as a person to a ridiculas degree and make him an over the top, cartoonish character.

I can understand that making Longshanks a more evil chacter than his traditional brutal tyrant persona made it a better film but it was still wrong and historically inaccurate.

  • Braveheart also goes out of it's way to ignore the political and social upheavel in Scotland itself. It ignore the personal squabbles of the nobles, only briefly touching this subject when it comes to the Battle of Falkirk and the aftermath of it according to Gibson.

It portrays the Bruce as some noble and honorable man rather than the power hungry murderous usurper that he actually was.

It ignores key figures & events in Scotland just so it can be an action film rather than a historical one.

  • For Braveheart Mel Gibson sacrificed actual history just so he could produce an action film. He made a great action film - one that's gone down in history as one of the greatest action films ever made - but that does not discount it's historical inaccuracies or its deliberate distortion of people, places and facts.

  • mel is an Orson Wells of today, because his films are so straight and clear.

  • ... and overacting, lies and fascist bigotry. And yes I am a non-jew scot.

  • Fuck off, it was the best film of the past 20 years. Who cares what he thinks about the Jews.

  • couldnt have said it better myself

  • You are kidding, braveheart was a 9.5/10 er.

  • Mel Gibson very nice actor el director!!!!!

  • LOVEEEEEEEEEEE YOUUUU

  • NO matter what he does off camera does'nt really bother me because you have to admit Mel is one of the greatest actor and director ever.

And not to mention he is ruggedly handsome with eyes to die for =)

  • HES the best one there is! i love all his war movies! they are just epic! :D a very good actor!

  • Got to love Mel Gibson, my favorite actor of all!

  • critics have been making fun of him..which makes me mad becuase he is a great acotr..and i mean GREAT..he defintly pulled it off very well..its awesome he doesnt deserve half the crap he gets..
