hi again just saw this vid and you have a deltic class 55 on show, and did not relize you were in australia, this is one hell of a layout am glad iv seen it , what class 55 deltic do you have, ??, if you take a look at a couple of my vids iv filmed deltic 22 royal scots grey on a few railtours this year on the mainline in the uk, nice to have her back, and thanks again for the look , love the job on the signals as well, regards hugh
if i basicly plug my dcc into this program and set it up can i make a route and set it so that after 45 seconds of running it will slow and stop then start up and continue for another 60 seconds then slow and stop and repeat the whole proess thx
Hello, how exactly does it control each individual train? I'm sorry but I haven't updated my train stuff in years (I still have locomotives from the 1950s). In other words, my old set just has a transformer with a dial you connect to the track. You turn the dial to change the voltage going through the track which controls the speed of the train meaning that you can only control all trains on the track at once.
Hello, Does the train controller software include option of completely automatic controlling of train on the layout. I mean the schedule preliminary created in the PC.
@UrfinJus Hi mate yes you can!! Schedules can be made up to even suit a speeded up timetable aswell.Ocupency detectors would be needed though!! It is one of the best programs for model railways on the market cheers and thanks for asking .
@BellsAnThings Hi mate its a Lenz 100 dcc setup with a lenz computer interface and I am using rail road and co's traincontroller program!! cheers and thanks for asking
Couple of questions... Is this based on the Digitrax system, or what system do you use? And: You only show one train in action. Will the trains behave according to the signals? So that if you try to start a train which is on a track with a red signal, it will automatically stop? Or is the train driving all 100% manually, no matter what the state of the signal?
Thanks for the explanation. Here is Australia on country lines we use single head signals that can portray Red, Yellow and Green on the one 'head'. These are called searchlight signals. Do you know whether I could use this type of signal with the IRDASC3? The Heathcote electronics website does not make mention of these type of signals.
Hi mate yes you can you just need to know whether your single headed signals are common negative or common positive led as heathcote will ask you this when you order.
It may also pay to ask for long leads with the infra red detectors that come with the irdasc boards as you may not be able to position the pcb boards directly underneath your track. This costs just a fraction extra but makes installation a hell of alot easier.
I understand that the signals are operated via a timing device. What happens if the train is in the immediate block straight after a signal that it has passed - will the signal that it has just passed still go to yellow (from red) even though the train is in the immediate block after this signal and the timer has expired for it to go yellow? Or is it hooked up to the IRDASC4 circuit in the next block?
Continued All of the irdasc units interlock with each other and aslong as you have atleast 4 blocks each send and receive from each other then there is no need for a mas sequencer (timed board) This is only needed say if you only have 1 signal on a branch line then it times itself back to green.
HI I have 4 block sections on both my main lines using 4 x irdasc5 boards on each main line. When a train passes a signal it goes red then the whole train has got to pass the next signal before the 1st signals goes to yellow .Using the irdasc5's there is an isolated section relay built in which deadens the section which is red to prevent crashes I hope this helps many thanks for asking. If you have any further questions please dont hesitate
Hi mate the signal control boards are by Heathcote Electronics they have their own website and have wiring diagrams on their site aswell.I have made a few modifications with my gantrys using relays to divert the send and receive signals and these lights also interlock with the points but the basic boards are easy to follow. Thanks andy!!
The set up there is more or less similar to what I'm building, which is a four track mainline with a fiddle yard round the back, based on the ECML in the GNER days.
i must say congrats on a fantastic layout! 6 thanks personally for making a vid where you can see the computer and all the stuff in action, been waiting for a vid like that for years! so thank you very much!
that is amazing, the whole thing is controlled by teh computer. if i knew you in person, i would now be coming to your house and congratulating you on that acheivement. i love all of your scenery aswell, it keeps you focused on teh trains and not the background. (if you know what i mean). well done i would love to see another video about this layout. and again well done. :P
Hi mate im an ex pat I used to live in bristol uk moved to australia 7 years ago. They have plenty of model shops here only things are a little more expensive as they have to import the stuff.I mainly buy over internet from uk!!!
HI peggey if your hornby select supports expressnet then you can do it also. All you would need is a pc and a computer interface along with a program like train controller and you could have a computer controlled layout obviously you would need to motorise your points etc but its something you build up bit by bit.If you ever have any questions I would be happy to help.
how does all this work and how can I do it?, i have a Hornby Select and this train control system is exactly what i am looking for, can you tell me what you have and what you have done here please! thank you
Hi there thanks for your comment. All the things I have used are user friendly and come with good instructions and diagrams so dont let it put you off.If you have any questions I would be pleased to help!!
Brilliant video, so does your software on the computer do all the working outs? Just curious to know how/where all the point decoders and signal decoders meet and exchange infomation? Thanks
Continued- Its quite straightforward. You can research everything on the net.Your decoders just connect to your dcc system then your dcc system plugs into your computer via an interface. Its a pretty simple exercise.Good luck and thanks for your interest if you have any further questions feel free to ask!!
Wow, the track look amazing. A few questions. 1- how long did it take you to do that. 2- have you no steam locos ?
