M3i Zero Update Process for the DSi 1.4 Update

Is there any way to update WITHOUT the USB cord? I lost it, and I updated my DSi. If not, can IO buy a new one anywhere?

@sr2550 Unfortunately I don't have an M3i Zero anymore to check myself but I believe if you can still turn on the cart, you can update it (ie borrow someone's DS Lite)

@samljer  I wholeheartedly disagree. The AceKard has improved over time, while the M3i Zero hasn't. It is the same cart it always has been, while the AceKard continually implements things to make it run faster and better.

hi i have the new version of m3i it got at the top right gmp-z003 and it got movie player. the only downfall to this is its showing games its very slow its not like sakura which is fast and scrolls up and down, is there any updates to this so i can add to make it like sakura plz thanks

@disgaea36 Nope, you are safe to connect to the internet, dl games, etc.

@woross1 No, you only have to do this update once every time the cart gets blocked by Nintendo and once for when you get it out of the box. So through the life of the cart, you might find yourself updating the bootstrap maybe once or twice unless you want to do it just for fun.

M3i zero works on my old DS (DS fat) but it won't work on my new nintendo DSi. when i put it in the DSi it says: An error has occurred. Press and hold the Power Button to turn the system off. Please see the Nintendo DSi Operations Manual for help troubleshooting. So how do I fix this?

On My old M3DS Simply. I played Pokemon Soul Silver, with my old DS fat ofc. I got pretty far in the game and ofc saved. Then I got an DSi and this M3i Zero, witch works great on my 1.4 DSi. But the problem is that it will not find my save file for Soul Silver. The .nds and the .sav file are in the same folder (root) named the same ofc. BUT IT DOESENT HELP!

@davnz: no, if your DSi is already updated you are still able to use the card aslong as the M3 card has the latest firmware (F_CORE.DAT)

I've read a lot of reviews online, so I would say go with the m3i zero. Seems toe be the most compatible with games and such.I'm currently waiting for my flashcart, so I can't tell you how well it works myself, but everyone seems to like it. I do have a m3lite which is almost 3 years old and still works like a charm. m3 is quality and they have people doing updates, so you don't need to hardware, just a software update. Hope that helps. If you want more, just look up 'm3i zero review' on google.

It is a fairly common case, to be honest, it isn't that good, I wouldn't recommend it.

You don't need to worry if you are on a phat. Basically the DSi gets updates through the internet that disable flash carts. The DS Phat doesn't have that, so you don't have to care about these at all.

I'm not sure I understand. I have the video posted up and I thought it was pretty clear. Basically the M3i Zero takes the start of a retail game so that the DSi thinks it is a retail game and doesn't block it.

I just got the m3i zero today. When I try to plug in the update cable, it only goes 3/4 of the way in. Like where it changes color from light to that slightly browner color. If I try to push it in further, the little metal piece starts to bend, I'm afraid of breaking it. Anyway, the update didn't work. I saw the red light on my card blink for 30 sec but when I plugged it into the dsi it says "M3adaptor" and when I push "A" it says "system error". Can you help me please? THANKS

The cable should go all the way in, but since it blinked, it seemed to have worked.  I can only recommend trying the update again, and this time, wait another 10 seconds after it stops blinking to be safe.

if your dsi is on system 1.4 then it wont work with the core that you have got. the right core should make the icon say "danny phantom"

There can be several reasons for this. Off the top of my head, the power is not connected properly (some USB drives limit the amount of power going out), you didn't plug the wire all the way in, the f_core.dat file isn't properly put onto the MicroSD, etc.
