Made these this morning. They turned out really really well. I made them without telling the gang that they were not the usual "boxed" waffles and they loved them. Very light compared to the boxed version. Thanks for the video.
For the UK people - just bought a waffle maker, it's great and has good reviews but under £50 there is only a couple to pick from, UK doesn't seem popular on them, inbox for info!
@w8tosk84u2 I did it that way this morning. I haven't made waffles for years and all it did was make big waffle air bubbles. They were terrible. I put some butter and maple syrup on them and they were halfway edible...
@wintershiver Depends on your waffle baker… this recipe with our kitchenAid will make 5 waffles. Depends if yours is bigger / smaller / deeper / thinner.
@wintershiver Depends on your waffle baker… this recipe with our kitchenAid will make 5 waffles. Depends if yours is bigger / smaller / deeper / thinner.
Put some butter on it, add some fresh kiwi, apples (cooked or not), strawberries, and bananas, maybe some pecans or walnuts, a little real maple syrup and whip cream, and NOW you've got some waffles.
So, I've made these wonderful waffles a few times. This last time I made them I used whole wheat flour and the batter turned out like bread dough and all the butter separated while they cooked so they were kind of fried.. Can you tell me why? Ps. I love these waffles, thanks for the recipe.
If we want to add some sort of flavour such as blueberries or peanut butter, should we blenderize it separately and then add it before the fluffed egg whites? If not, then when?
I'm old school and I take it a step further: the night before you want to make waffles, mix the wet ingredients MINUS the eggs with some active dry yeast (Red Star, Fleishmann's, whatever). Mix, cover, and let it sit at room temperature over night.
Next morning, separate eggs, stir in yolks, and fold in egg whites as shown. I've done both, and the 12 hour old yeast risen batter is hands down better.
These waffles are delish! I'm eating them with strawberries with a side of shrimp grits and sausages. Also, I changed the eggs to 2 inthe recipe but everything else stayed the same. Thank you!
@PinkBlushing You could add a tablespoon of sugar if you wanted - but there's no need. Aren't you going to put maple syrup / jam / fruit / whipped cream on top?
@Vercippu You could add a tablespoon of sugar if you wanted - but there's no need. Aren't you going to put maple syrup / jam / fruit / whipped cream on top?
Just made my very first waffles using this recipe, and they were a big hit with the family. Very tasty ... thank you. The egg white did not come out as stuff as in teh video but the waffles were great none the less.
@GoldBiscuit100 Glad you enjoyed them! The trick to stiff egg whites is to make sure you use a metal bowl and whisk + they have to be extremely clean - any hint of oil or grease will stop them from getting stiff.
@XxBlackReaper 4 eggs. At 1:01 he puts 4 egg yolks into the batter (and you can see them) so that means he has 4 egg whites in the kitchen aid mixing bowl. it sure looks like a bunch, doesn't it? xD
I just tried this recipe this morning. I am a 30 year old wife who has been trying to make waffles for my husband and so far best waffle batter I have ever tried! I love the making egg white stiff as if it was snow or cotton candy. Thank you for this amazing video!
tried this technique after two other waffle recipes (aside from bisquick) -- this is hands-down easily the winner. Thanks much! I will be using this recipe for a waffle bar at my festivus party.
@monicatovar Yes, yes it is. That looks like the KitchenAid Pro Line Waffle Maker. However, if you're serious about your waffles, you should look into the Equipex GES/1 for square Belgian waffles or the Star Manufacturing SWB8RBLE round Belgian waffle maker. Let the waffles know you're serious.
@SMyD77777 Our website also says: "In the video I left out the butter... you don't always need to use it. If you are worried about eating too much butter, you can cut it down or leave it out altogether. What you sacrifice is a bit of flavour, and if your waffle baker is non-stick (as most new ones are) they will cook just the same."

Not quite perfect, 1-2 tablespoons of sugar and teaspoon of vanilla essence, then perfect. You could not eat those waffels by themself!

faster way: buy premade waffle mix
follow the steps on the back of the box
eat waffle and add toppings to your liking

@w8tosk84u2 Yeah… But then you also get all the preservatives and extra sugar / fat that they also put in the box...
