  • Divide and Conquer. The seductions and penalties to opt in and play the game are great with the accompanying psychology of rationalizations when times are good. I think it will likely take complete collapse for people to let go of the interest based money game.

  • Good description of the basics of debt based money. Thanks

  • The Zeitgeist movement skips over a whole area of monetary reformers and money reinvention.Money does not have to be issued as an interest bearing debt. The technique can be changed. This indeed could be a necessary transitional stage to a resource based economy.

  • 'You don't want your own shopping trolly?! You communist!' :D

  • @myY0UTUBEchanneI so,,, do you actually think all that conspiracy nonsence( new world order illuminati jordan maxwell, david icke alex jones etc) has absolutely anything to do with the advocation of the Zeitgeist Movement? If so you have demonstrated a complete misunderstanding of what is being proposed.

  • A criticism of capitalism, money and consumerism by a tard with a macbook. This is brilliant comedy.

  • @ingyinginging i dont see the funny part.

  • A little sad that we don't actually hear the direct feed coming from the microphone, but hear some mic placed in the audience or something. Weird, to say the least, knowing that Ben would not have wanted anything more than offer a direct feed.

  • Is it just me, or is the voice on this video difficult to listen to? Sounds like hes talking into a cardboard box.

  • how could we get tzm and venus project ideas @ the for front of the occupy movement, THE occupy movement are getting into positions were there voice can be heard, I wish they spoke as eloquently as Peter Joseph in re-guard the necessary changes for sustainability

  • Thank you for recording with video.

  • Wow, when I first heard of the zeigesit movement a few years back it all sounded so good, then when I studied economics more (Austrian economics) I can now spot all the flaws in this system.

Do yourself a favor, search for "economics in one lesson" I believe it's by Henry Haslet

  • @john5246 I'm not a member of Zeitgeist, but they do raise a few key issues though. The economic system is in peril and people are indeed suffering and impoverished. Personally I gotta pay tuition that's nearly 3,000 dollars and that's a public university! I don't have type of money on hand. I am interested in solutions to these problems I don't care for names or organizations.

  • @Josephjoel3 you tube search freeworldcharter

  • @JonathanSeagullUtube I looked it up and I would just like to say thank you!

  • @john5246 Yes, economics: mans attempt at valuing efforts/energy and materials/knowledge. Heres something beyond Austrian economics you tube search " freeworldcharter "

  • sitting behind a materialistic MacBook and reading out a piece on corruption does not a good lecture make.

  • @MrGridd What would the recommended Zeitputer be?

  • @MrGridd words sequence wrong me makes understand you not.

  • It should be clear to everyone that capitalism pays the rich, in fact the 'rich' are not the most valuable, brilliant or helpful individuals of our society. The 'rich' are the one which have more money, which are protected by the economical system and have the resources (i.e. money) to exploit the system.

  • look up the rodin coil.

  • @Josephjoel3

I mean this in the nicest way possible, pleas stop the nonsense. Instead of going around youtube looking up "rodin coil" please grab a physics book off amazon. If you care about the future of energy (which I think you do if you're loking up rodin coil) then you can accomplish a lot more for humanity if you just study physics instead of this rodin nonsense. It's been debunked, it's nonsense plain and simple. Sorry to burst your bubble. There are real innovations though

  • @john5246 What makes you say that the Rodin coil is false? The guy behind it, Marko Rodin has put in alot of work behind it and it seems to have real effects and potential. I am still open to your suggestion however. I don't really know much about the coil. I just found out about it a few months back.

  • I think that movements like these are good to show that people do indeed have some sort of an awareness other then the ones that mainstream media try to pump our heads with.

Also saying that they don't do anything, are you doing anything about your situation or just troll around, sitting behind a keyboard writing stuff that's gonna "change us"? Don't make as giggle people.

In order to really change people have to set aside our differences and come together, from there on we can start the changes

  • ...yes, but who was he lecturing to? Zombies?

If that's the case, then half of then will go like this as soon as they step out of the hall:

    "Duh? What was he saying?"

... and rush to the nearest supermarket for some 5$ junk that falls apart in your hands as soon as they unpack it.

  • Thank you so much!

  • Will be silenced with fully automatics and handcuffs. You people spend all this time talking about what it should be like. What you should do is spend time on learning how to defend you and your family once shit hits the fan. Until then, whatever with this pinko bullshit.

  • @LastCaress7 All throughout history society has been in constant change and always due to the actions of those who act,,, seemingly the only thing that hasn't changed is the amount of people like yourself who refuse to understand and recognise this fact

  • Blah fucking blah. Always. What movements like this fail to recognize, is that at the end of the day these people are just talking shit. Just like the occupy movement. They were out there with their signs and talking crazy shit. Did they change anything? Not a god damn thing, they got rolled the fuck out, the boys in blue kicked their asses and what did the occupy people do? NOTHING! You people want change but don't FIGHT for it. I can guarantee you that all the shit these movements talk about

  • @LastCaress7

    wrong.

despite obstacles, occupy has made profound change in bringing topics such as income inequality into mainstream conversation.

for you, apparently, nothing short of armed revolution is worth the effort. fair enough - you're entitled to your opinion.

  • @myY0UTUBEchanneI. If we lived in a Resource-based economy, then you really COULD have time and energy...! But I understand you; in our stressful lifes there is nearly no time to do, and have the energy, to do anything else but WORK! (or should we call it what it is: slave labor!)

  • @myY0UTUBEchanneI Then come up with a better idea on your own...or not... maybe everything will turn out great on its own...Enjoy your juicy steak, you know is not real... :) :)

    Again, good luck to you.

  • Comment removed

  • @myY0UTUBEchanneI even if you do not agree with TZM, you shouldn't go back to ignorance...unless you didn't really figure out how the world works and the fact there is nowhere to hide...anyways...good luck to you

  • All new money is debt...hmmm...

  • @myY0UTUBEchanneI By all means follow the money...everything will be OK...watch TV, go to work...next 40 years will be great...you can see it with all the "progress" we're making...

  • @myY0UTUBEchanneI A revolution must occur before RBE so don't get so hung up on the traction idea just yet. You can't expect a bunch of morons to think outside the box, right now all you can do is better yourself and those around you. RBE is the ultimate goal, TZM doesn't understand we can't jump ahead of ourselves we need to take it one step, one day at a time. TZM would be much more successful if they worked inside this system to push incremental change, fight for something realistic...

  • Who is going to clean the home they borrowed before moving into another one? They may leave it in a less than desirable condition than they found it. Who will clean it and fix the walls, etc?

  • @IAM18YEARSOLDANDOVER Hopefully the majority of the people will have some type of home training when they leave the homes or apartments they're living in. Pick up after yourself, if not, what needs to be done on a massive scale is to automate cleaning and repairs. Some technologies already exsits and can be put to use as we speak. Research TVP or TZM websites and up look up technologies. Lookup Douglas Mallette "Our Technical Reality".

  • I understand there is an access abundance or strategic access to goods and services in a resource based economy due to abundance and therefore no need for ownership, but for example, who is going to fix the bikes that people borrow and how do you know they will return it to an appropriate place for other people to use?

  • @IAM18YEARSOLDANDOVER how do you know they will need to be fixed? They might just be recycled and reprinted and be brand new for every user.

  • Totally fucking sense. Gives me hope :)

  • RON PAUL 2020

  • @technatezin Wow, I hope you are wrong...I really don't think he can be bought, and I hope they know the revolution would turn violent if they disappeared him...but, perhaps that is really what they want anyway...

  • Everyone google Mehran Keshe and watch the interview .All that the ietgiest movement is proposing is only possible if mankind has access to FREE ENERGY (PLASMA)

  • @good2btheking solar and wind is just as free wtf r u talkin about?

  • @DJKAYZEE The setup costs for Solar and wind are still enormous and wind and solar cannot be depended upon to be there on demand due to cloud coverage or on wind if there isnt any, but plasma energy is generated by everyone and everything and everywhere so its on demand. You might want to listen to an interview or two by Mehran Keshe to understand the concept.

  • Where are those die hard Capitalists, they need to watch this?

  • Awesome!

  • Boring

  • We need more people with not only the intelligence and comprehension men like Ben McLeish and Peter Joseph have, but the courage and quick action to spread the knowledge as much as possible, via video/lecture/speeches for the world to see.

It's constructive criticism humanity needs (Y)

  • NO! Please stop using Apple products! Install GNU/Linux on a generic laptop instead.

    Patents are garbage.

  • @Laoch111

No point in avoiding a certain brand or company.

If you frame your ability to impact culture in terms of consumer choices, you are playing up to the system itself.

I am writing this on a macbook. I like the macbook because it feels and looks nice. I would like things to change to the point where a home computer like this doesn't have a price tag, and the design is free (not patented). 'Generic' laptops are nearly always clunky and awful.

    No contradiction.

  • @loof000 Give GNU/Linux a try!

  • 2 was meant to be "how we do this" but why was it "what matters"

This says nothing about how people can actually achieve these goals

Theres no point saying "we should do this" because this is whats happening

    How can we do this?

  • Can't wait for this new Utopia - I understand that slaughterhouses will still exist in your brave new world.

  • @munchkin365 For now the slaughterhouses will still exist. But, if technology could provide us with a satisfying, in vitro meat product. I'd switch off off meat completely.

It's not a Utopia, it's technology. Envision it.

  • @MattSyTy As far as I am concerned if that would be the case this 'Brave New World' would be just as much of a cesspit as the one that we are living in now.

  • @munchkin365 Well, as far as what YOU subjectively think to be true, that's irrelevant now. There's only what works best for everyone. The negative retroactions produced by the Anarchist mind harm me, as well as everyone else.

  • @MattSyTy I suppose I can take it then that there will be a McDonalds, KFC and Burger King in your Utopia.

  • @munchkin365 No, but I have envisioned advanced re-education centers and containment zoo's for the people who resist.

Maybe we can import the fast food chains to those areas, so as to slowly ween off the Individualist Anarchists.

  • @MattSyTy Heart of gold.. some ppl just don't get it.. or they are pentagon trolls, whatever :)

  • @MattSyTy There is meat substitute made from plant protein that is pretty convincing. I actually like it better because the lack of bone fragments, ligaments, and fat.

  • @MattSyTy @MattSyTy "Become the change you want to see in the world" Do you want TODAY a world where there has to be a slaughterhouses so you can "enjoy" the taste in your mouth ? Do you realize the cost of it ? It's like saying... "ok, I will care about poor people in the future if we have plenty of resources, but now i don't give a damn if they suffer".... pls watch EARTHLINGS , greetings from TZM Argentina

  • @MattSyTy meat is a commodity that human beings no longer need. to continue to consume meat is to be completely unaware of the consequences its consumption has on our environment, our own health (casein has been directly linked to cancer) and of course, the suffering of species that are not like our own for the sake of taste and profit alone. if we were fully aware of everything implied in eating animal products, we'd drop it immediately, if we are serious about creating a better world.

  • Awesome talk!

  • politicians are just accountants, they don't know anything but money

  • I hope he's joking when he asserts that machines will one day demand labour unions, haha

If he's serious, then I must say that's absolutely ridiculous. Machines do what they're programmed to do, if we don't program them to demand rights, they won't need them.

AI and sentience is a whole other story, but in all likelihood that's not going to just spontaneously emerge from inside a deterministic program (a given input always results in the same output -- completely predictable)

  • @0dWHOHWb0 It was a light-hearted comment on AI. However, have a look at George Dvorsky and Ray Kurzweil, and the perception of a possible charter of rights for non-human persons. It's certainly out there, but I don't have enough information to put a case for or against it. Cheers - Ben

  • Exploring the consequences of patents is very interesting...thanks for sharing that!

  • @iReturnV1deotapes ok imagine how that would happen for a second.close your eyes and think of the blood bath.you really think violence is the solution?we just let our primal instinct take over and distroy everything?can you imagine how long that war would take?it's a waste of time!

  • @freemanpatriot So what? Does that make it any less true? I agree it's a waste of time, a waste of life and a waste of resources. I'm not in support of this method. Don't think I am, I'm just honest enough to know it will not come about through peace and love. It doesn't matter what you want to tell yourself, this solution will force the ones in power to forgo all of it. Has any empire come to an end without blood? C'mon.

  • @iReturnV1deotapes I don't support violence but if it comes to the point where we have no choice(next time they step on our toes intencionally)we will take them out with our bare hands and form our own council formed by social designers and scientists.no more politicians

  • How can we expose the self-appointed leaders of our society to these rational, empirical and scientificaly valid concepts?

  • Some people seem still believing in presidential candidates^^

  • @hanspanzer I think they're cute. :>

  • @electronicmedium Go away troll.

  • @electronicmedium wrong place for that. A RBE system don't care about ron. A leader in this way is pointless and just in the way.

  • The low-quality audio makes it difficult to hear. How do we put captions on this?

  • R B E O R P E R I S H

  • wait didn't i already listen to this guy??......

  • why is peter the only one who can get good audio recording for him when he talks >_>?..........

  • I am a bit confused as to why "Technological Unemployment" is even mentioned here. I realize that, in a monetary system, this is detrimental; however, TZM is pro-technology, and therefore, pro-automation, if I understand correctly. Don't get me wrong, I think TZM is beautiful, but this "bashing" of automation comes across as hypocritical.

  • @Tycse The title of this video is "Firing Back" - The description reads "The case against money..."

That means that the context of this video is about our current system, not about a resource-based economy.

  • @Youanden Right. I just don't like how automation was thrown under the bus when it would be prevalent in a RBE.

  • @Tycse in this crappy capitalist system automation is horrible. As the people get put out of work then lose their life style, I'm all for complete automation in a RBE but in our system it only does harm. when the union were strong in the mid 80's they stopped automation to protect workers. Does this answer your question?

  • @starknight97 I'm merely saying that it would've been nice if Mr. McLeish would have thrown in a simple "...of course, automation is not always a bad thing." Again, I'm not hating here, I just didn't like the tone of that segment given that TZM is all about it [automation].

  • @Tycse that fine he should have thrown in you got that right. Good then glade you said this maybe it make think and our chat push this a little.

  • Well said and I completely agree, but the acoustics could have been a tad better.

  • Ron Paul has been in politics for a long time and has yet to change his stances. I believe he would do what he says. Maybe he would be stopped in his attempt, but simply having him achieve a position by which he can try is moving in the right direction. I say that not because I believe he could or would free us from this monetary system, but because his solutions would strengthen it in the meantime, giving us more time to make a smoother, more humane transition than would be otherwise likely (i

  • Where was this presentation? It's quite good, but you made a lot of huge jumps here and there. I liked the one at Z-Day better tho bc it was easier to follow bc the topics were better connected.

  • I'm agitated at the fact that he has a Mac

  • Anti Ron Paul? Does he understand we have no options. Ron Paul is change, we need change now not later we can't wait for a future civilization to come about. People are suffering so it's all fun in games talking about what could be but we need real change NOW!!!

  • @hogie507 just like Obama was change no the only thing that happen is the system with change Ron if he is different and if not it'll get rid of him.

  • @starknight97 If the system can change Dr. Paul then seriously all hope is gone because politicians don't get any better then him, period. This man will change America as we know it or die trying...

  • @hogie507 Ron Paul is like everybody else that ends up in political office. He'll be bought or he doesn't play the game with the people with the money that actually pulls the strings then they will get rid of him. Guess what he'll do? He values his life.

  • @technatezin Dr. Paul is absolutely NOT like everybody else and a statement like that leads me to believe you have no idea what your're talking about. I agree with @NjC121 our next step is Ron Paul, now I suggest you go do some homework...

  • @hogie507 I think not many people here question Ron Paul's integrity or intentions. Whether he'll be successful when he gets into office, is another matter altogether. Existing power structures like the Fed will probably resist extensive reforms. How far that will go is anyones guess. In a free market almost everything can be bought as well. Nonetheless, I reckon many Zeitgeist members would love to see Ron Paul as President.

  • @TerraRubicon I think my point is we won't get to RBE from where we are today, we need to make changes within this system. So when my fellow zeitgeisters bash Dr. Paul it makes me question their understanding of reality, is it possible to go from where we are today to RBE, absolutely not. This is what we need to come to realize, where do we go from here...

  • @technatezin Yeah but would you rather have him or someone like Mitt Romney in office? Pick your poison.

  • @ReaLizZe7 Too bad Ralph Nader isn't running.

  • @technatezin So did JFK. Look what happened to him :)

  • @hogie507 All hope is gone lol. you act like you need this useless leader. News flash you don't need him. Though lets say he 1 of the few uncorruptable. Then what to stop the system from getting rid of him like though before that stand up too the system. One person is the the answer or key too these problems. The hole system is corrupted.

  • @starknight97 I agree with you the whole system is corrupt but Dr. Paul is trying to change some things that we as zeitgeisters would want changed so if he can't change them you think we can? Let's be real here the majority of society is stupid as shit they can't handle the truth, so what makes you think we stand a chance? Mark my words, the only way we get through to people is playing the game, we already know what our ultimate goal is, now we must take "steps" in the right direction.

  • @hogie507 will it might be a change that could lead too a easier for the change though the u.s. Be the hardest country too change to a RBE. No in-sort yes we can do it with out the u.s. or it people if they like their nazi state then they can keep it as they have shown this already. What we can do is make a clean break and just leave them behind.

  • The shopping cart example was amazing. Never thought of that!

  • He's talking about fiat currency not fiat money. There is a subtle but important difference. Currency not= Money. Money can be a form of currency, but currency is never money.

  • When people are cared for, the majority care. Soldiers are a perfect example of this. Only some bite the hand that feeds them and in my opinion they are simply more sensitive and require more attention. Build infrastructure that supports needs of everyone and you build a better future.

  • RBE is inevitable if we want to survive on this planet. We will "arrive" at that point one way or another. Either peacefully and intelligently adapting whats necessary or with more unnecessary suffering and even war. The standpoint right now is the rich who just don't want to "share" our common resources with the rest of us and that has nothing to do with socialism. It's all evil greed by the ruling parasite class pushing OUR planet to the ultimate destruction.

  • @kaxitaksi better sooner then later.

  • @kaxitaksi You're trying to defend against an irrational idea. People calling TZM socialism or communism is like someone on the playground calling Johnny a dum-dum-head. What should be Johnny's response? Should he say "No, I'm not a dum-dum-head"? I think "It has nothing to do with socialism" is not the best response.

  • @beauxq Well, it HAS nothing to do with socialism.. it's obvious. What more can I say?

  • @kaxitaksi Hate to have to say this but it is we in the West that are the rich.

  • @munchkin365 Hate to have to break it to ya.. it's the 1% who are the rich and it ain't no utopia LOL

  • @kaxitaksi You've obviously never been to the third world where people are starving to death, where they do not have clean water to drink, they do not have cars, computers, tv sets etc etc etc and of course there is always India where people slog their guts for 50cents a day

  • @munchkin365 Uhh.. Yes! Have u.. ?

  • @munchkin365 Yes I have, but I don't think u ever have. This is the very reason I promote a RBE economy coz it's the ONLY way ppl like u refer to is ever gonna stop starving or ever gonna have a clear water to drink or EVER gonna catch up with the rest of the world..

  • While I don't totally agree with RBE it is a step in the right direction.

But now after Peter Joseph and the Venus Project falling out with each other this seems more and more like trite hot air. If these two groups can't agree and they actually hold the same views how the hell is the rest of the world ever going to adopt this??

  • @MegaJay79 The train of thought, the idea, has nothing to do with any "drama" that may go on between different individuals or groups. It is a shame that egoism has been an issue, but we must not let that distract us from what actually matters. Look within yourself, don't rely on PJ, TZM or TVP... we must be our own leaders :)

  • @InvertedFox I know what you mean but the idea relies on people coming to agreement these groups should understand its bigger than them or their egos cos if they cant work it out can you imagine that world governments could ever going let their shit go and adopt it?

  • @MegaJay79 The disagreement was essentially an ego issue with Jacque as far as I can tell. I think he may also have tried to get the ideas of a RBE copyrighted @ one point. Jacque and Roxanne appear to have wanted there to be more focus centered on Jacque and his specific designs. It is understandable at his age to have lapses in judgement and an increasingly narrow perspective, my granddad was similar in his 90's. The current world governments won't just let go, it will take a lot of pressure..

  • @InvertedFox Yeah I can see that but it doesn't help their cause in any way... Economically the west, in a way, is heading toward RBE as the debt crisis grows but the east is starting to become strong so they won't want change - there would be impossible issues to overcome

  • @MegaJay79 I agree that it is counterproductive, and in that regard dwelling on it is too. Regarding Eastern countries potential to adapt to a RBE, I have a different perspective. For one thing, some Eastern philosophy and religious culture has more in common with that of a RBE- the symbiotic nature of nature, for instance, than the majority of Western equivalents. At the same time, despite the relatively strong production basis enjoyed by some eastern economies, living standards etc. are worse.

  • @MegaJay79 The perceived "strength" emerging in some eastern countries only applies to concentrated pockets of power - government, the economic elite etc. to the detriment of the average human being. This movement, if it succeeds, must emerge from a grass roots movement, not hierarchical structures. Developing countries generally have less infrastructure (static institutions) and therefore are more easily adaptable to new forms of dynamic infrastructure (RBE).

  • @MegaJay79 they fell out over the issue of the Venus Project wanting th epeople to be under the bracke tof the venus project :P

  • @MegaJay79 well the split isn't really that detrimental. The split is caused for the fact that The Zeitgeist Movement is all about the voice (campaigns, tours, festivals, ect). While the Venus Project works a different more passive movement (movies, essays, books, ect). And since both sides work differently, its in their best interest for efficiency of work to par. But TZM and TVP are NOT going to be the last grassroots movement with simaluer ideas. look up "The Free World Charter"

  • @miesrah12 Thanks for heads up - Free world charter from UK then?? Interesting

  • the petition for the venus project and the resource based economy: thepetitionsite DOT com /1/The-future-that-Humanity-Deserves/

  • @freemanpatriot A petition will do nothing. A resource based economy will not come into fruition through a petition. It has to be forced.

  • @iReturnV1deotapes hmm funny force is what they want too avoid their is other way and force should be very last.

  • @starknight97 Look, I'm all for this resource based economy. I understand it completely and realize that if it doesn't happened, the species is doomed. It's been thoroughly laid out, but I also understand that the people in power will not just bend over to accommodate our wishes. There is absolutely no way this will ever happen as long as it's done peacefully. To think this could be achieved peacefully is either being extremely optimistic, or extremely naive.

  • @iReturnV1deotapes kinda true one day they will seek war with it but let them do so. Not us i already have a surefire way for the RBE too win the fight once it's a thriving nation. The once te world see how people can live they'll want it for themselves. this is when it'll be attacked. to take what it has and to make a example of it with some kinda name like pinko commy bastards. yet right now too make a RBE you just need to break away. leave this fake money system behind.

  • Audio is a bit hollow due to speakers and the room, and someone is fiddling with something near the camera microphone at times. Never mind all that. Ben is a great speaker and speech writer.

  • It's me, or the audio of this is really bad?
