The RAF had almost everything from He-111s, Bf109s and even a couple FW190s (the British were so determined to get a 190, they devised a cunning plan to steal one from a French airfield - the mission was scratched after a German pilot got confused and mistook Kent for Normandy!)

@emergency4lover1 well first of all, Click-able cockpits, physics, and an a lot more realistic flying model, sounds, and the feeling itself is fantastic. i play IL21946 too, but i don't think it is half as good as IL2 COD

The propellers rotate, with quite a lot of power, the flimsy glass cockpit sits still..

If that flimsy glass cockpit would rotate, it would be a different story,

And my guess is that the plane hits the ground with 98km/u,

SO IT IS VERY WELL POSSIBLE THAT IN REAL LIFE IT WOULD HAPPEN LIKE THIS TO!!!

Remember, that glas is bulletproof, and the ground is grass!!! Together with a VERY VERY low speed...

This one landed without rotating propellers, THIS IS NO GAME BUT REAL LIFE!!!

You can see that the "flimsy glass cockpit" surfives very very well...

By the way, that captured Heinkel 111 you see in the game, is actually supposed to be the He111 you see on the pictures, he crash landed near Glasscow in 1939!!!

It looks like it is fast, because the glass makes everything 2times bigger, in order to see enemyplanes 2times faster!!!

Because of this the ground seems to move 2times faster to!!! LOL

So if you fly in a He111 it is like he flies reall really fast, while he is quite slow.

All cause by the glass which isnt only in front of you but all around you evin beneath you...

If a crash landing is necessary, technically you should not use the landing gear.

I wonder if real-life He 111 crews would move to different places before takeoff and landing? The bombardier/gunner/navigator in the nose there - there must be a seat behind the bomb bay somewhere where he could sit more safely...

@MrJp990 I have done some research! The navigator/bombardier/gunner had a folding seat next to the pilot where he'd sit during takeoff and landing. If the pilot was hit, the control column could be swung over to be used from this seat so the navigator could fly the plane. The navigator would move forwards when necessary to fire the gun or use the bombsight.

@MrJp990 Yes, that's right.. But when the plane's about to land in a field, like in this video, he'd get up and sit in the seat next to the pilot. Instead of lying down at the very front of the plane where he could get killed if the aircraft noses over (like this one did).

@MrJp990 I thought it was just glazed with perspex. Bulletproof glass of that period was very heavy, very thick, and flat, as far as I'm aware. It was used for the front windscreens of fighter aircraft (which are small and flat).
