Hey Scooby, this is an important question. Can I massage my muscles when I get DOMS the following day I did my workout? So it feels better or to reduce the pain and soreness?
Hey scoob a doob do you know anything abou tennis elbow or tendonitis?I got it bad in both arms as a result of weight lifting!!!Havent worked out in months now and pain is still there... HAVE YOU EVER HAD TENNIS ELBOW? AND HOW DO YOU MAKE IT GO AWAY?
I used to have Achilles tendinitis, so im not entirely sure about what you've got, but firstly i'd recommend going to a doctor and asking for stretches to do. and with my ankles i found walking helped loosen up the tendons, but that did hurt a bit at first, so i'm not entirely sure if that's the right thing to do. So as i said, go to see a doctor or Physiotherapist.

Dude, you are still too young to build up muscle; yet you might do it with the right diet. However, chances are you are going to cause damage to your bones
Just a clarification question - You say that typically I should expect to gain 5 lbs of muscle in a year, and that's if I commit myself and work out intensely.
Should I expect to gain 5 lbs in my total MASS or would there be more mass increase, but only 5 lbs in muscle?
Basically I'm wondering whether I should count any additional mass increase above 5 lbs as non-muscle gains (whether skeletal or fat or what-have-you). Thanks in advance for any replies.
you can definitely gain weight, but muscle is hard. I went from 150 pounds to 170 pounds in a year, but it was fat and muscle (I'm 6 feet tall). Now I'm not saying I'm fat, but I ate A LOT during that time to gain weight. I also got a lot stronger. I didn't always eat right, but I ate pretty well. Every now and then I'd have pizza or whataburger. If you follow scooby's eating program you should just gain muscle, but it's pretty hard to stick to it.
Depending on your nutrition and body type you can expect to gain same amount of muscle and fat but really it's all about finding right equilibrium in nutrition. Scooby did some nice vids about nutrition and you should watch them.
I have to admit, I'm genuinly impressed that you give out advice like this for free. Most places you find advice of this type, it's in a book or a DVD or whatever!

Hey Scooby. From experience, I learned that I have to do the same exercise for the majority of each session if I wanted to increase my strength for that lift. For example, doing dumbbell press does not increase much of bench press strength. If my goal is to reach high numbers instead of physique, I would have to limit exercise selections and vary them less often?
after an intense forearm/bicep workout, the place wher my elbows fold are sore too...its not exactly on the tendon instead around it... is this normal?
Hi Scooby. I'm a big fan of you. You are awesome. I'm a vegetarian. Can you suggest me some protein intakes which i can have? Does curd/milk/beans help?
milk, cottage cheese, beans are great sources of protein but as for the dairy products, make sure you get the non fat brands. you could also use 100% natural dairy whey
that which does not kill you, can only make you stronger! lol, so i guess that dropping weights on your toes make you stronger. and the nutrition part is so true, you HAVE to have a complete diet including: light green, dark green, orange, starchy and other vegetables, and dont forget berries, tropical, forest and all kinds of fruit. and all that boushie stuff. but any ways i love this vid!
I remember when I first began working my calves. Oh man! I could NOT walk on the treadmill at my normal pace for the next day few days. I had to cut the speed by a few numbers.
man....i had such a great week working out and now i have a fever. does anyone know how many calories one should consume and what to eat to speed up recovery? i'm trying to get down to 6% body fat but there's just no way i can do cardio with a high fever, plus i feel too weak. anyone got some advice?
I dont' know about these folks, but I'm 6ft 3.5in tall. When I see myself in a video I am sometimes amazed at how tall and thin I look.
When I used to do forearm exercises (I now go to a different gym that doesn't have the machine) it was to put some definition on my arms in addition to biceps.
It was also just for general strength; the machine that I used made use of your grip to work the forearm, so my grip strength increased while using it.
My trusty $120 cannon powershot got destroyed by the train in my "How to read nutritional labels" video so I had to get a new one. I decided I wanted a better quality camera and the ability to do HD so I got a canon HF200. Its an amazing camera, more than I can afford though :(
Ah, well it takes a beautiful picture. I use an Aiptek GVS and it only wishes it could record video like this lol Good choice with the cam. Canon's a good company.
Sorry to hear about your camcorder's demise by train. :(
scooby i love all your videos, i just thought it would be great if u make a video about loose skin after losing weight,,,, i lost 50 pounds and now im stuck with loose skin
hey scooby i have good nutrition and im in good shape but what i wanna know is, does smoking weed effect my exercises in any way? does it slow me down or make me have less stamina or wat?
Pot has two very negative effects for bodybuilders. The worst is the appetite enhancing effect which tends to make people eat the wrong kinds of foods - ones that promote fat and not muscle. The other problem is the mellowing effect. To make gains in strength and mass you need to get revved up and push yourself hard, like a strong cup of coffee will do. Pot dulls that drive.
hey man, i had the same problem and you know what my solution was? i threw out the video games. why? because i knew that new ones would come out, and i could wait until i got fit. and with the foods? i never bought them again. YOU MUST FORCE YOUR SELF, FIND SELF CONTROL AND GET IT WORKING! lol i hope this helped.
i just have a suggestion for ur website, specifically on the hotel workouts section. maybe you could come up with a list of resistance equipment alternative people could use if they have no access to dumbells.....im sure many people are going away to travel this summer and it would be helpful for them to bodybuild and stay fit anywhere they go.....thanks again for your incredible effort in ur vids
It's possible you have a rapid metabolism, or in fact, may be hypoglycemic. If you get weak and/or dizzy if you don't eat at short intervals, I'd recommend seeing a doctor about it.
One thing to try, if you're trying to limit total intake, is to do as Scooby suggests. Eat 5 or 6 small meals throughout the day, rather than 3 big ones. This should keep your blood sugar up and provide lots of energy.
hey i have question.. i run usly fo like an hour and lift weight fo and hour but when i go home i just sit on the couch and chill fo like 5 hours..is that good or bad..
You need rest time. You don't build muscle in the gym, you build it while at rest after a workout. As long as you're not sitting on the couch and eating chips and drinking coke, you're fine. Train hard, rest hard.
One of my favorite exercises to do is flys. However, sometimes I can't do as much weight as I'd like (so sometimes I end up with 15-18 reps) because the inside of my forearm hurts (not a muscle being worked hard hurt, a I use the computer quite a bit hurt). Any suggestions?
Hey jermicine, I'm afraid that falls under the "bad pain" category. I would stop flys and just do pressing exercises for chest. If you do flys, do lighter weights with higher reps if you can do that pain-free.
If it came with the training, you probably have been training some muscle groups too much and have caused a muscular imbalance. If it was there before, it developed during your childhood.
For more information search the net for lordosis and, of course, see a doctor!
Hey Evilcyber, I didnt even know what lordosis was and had to look it up. Since I have a mild case of scoliosis you would think I would have known that one.
Well, as a kid my Mom feared that I might get lordosis because of my bad posture, so the op's description rung a bell. But I had to look up the actual term myself.
At the end of the video we clearly see how much time you spend doing these videos and you have no financial expectation like most of other commercial beasts. But sometimes I read unfair comments sent to your videos by kids that weren't even born when you started doing bodybuilding. It's sad.Keep it up though and thanks. (Actually I'd been asking myself this question about pain for a while because I haven't felt any soreness in my shoulders and biceps for a while though I make progress.Thank you)
I really respect this guy......his info is WAY MORE veracious then 99% of the other crap out there.....people should stop being obnoxious and vexing and just say thanks for all the hard work/time he puts into his vids AND his website
Well, your work out should be the same as for a vegetarian or omnivore - start with Scooby's beginner workout as outlined on his site under Workout Plans.
The real difference for you is of course your nutrition and specifically where you get your protein from. Check Scooby's site under Nutrition > Vegetarianism which despite its title also answers the questions vegan bodybuilders have.
hey evilcyber....i was wondering if taking a week off from working out will hinder my progress.....i woke up with a bad fever today and obviously im not going to wokrout.....if i took a few days off would i lose muscle? and as for working out while on vacation.....would doing basic pushups or pullups with high reps and perfect form be enough to gain muscle.....please reply and thanks
Heah Michael, no worries, one week is nothing. Just make sure than when your fever is gone you take it easy the first couple of workouts. Even when the fever is gone the body is still not at full strength again.
For your 2nd question: Make your vacation workout part of your total plan. A couple of weeks before you go on vacation, go for low reps, high weight and on vacation do high reps, low weight (=bodyweight). Can't say if you'll gain, but you shouldn't lose any muscle.
sweet thanks for the info....so does this mean that for a week i don't need to eat 1g of protein per lb body weight since i'm not lifting weights and recovering from the fever?
just want to thank you as well scooby for doin these videos and doin them with a bit of humor as well, it makes a subject that some people might find a little bit boring more entertaining. you wont find me fallin asleep watchin ur videos. U ever want someone to spot for u scoob im ur man. Thanks again scoob
hey scooby i really enjoy ur videos and take great inspiration from them. I think you talk so much sense and have a great body as a result. Of course its taken u many years to get to the shape your in but with your help with these videos i think i might be catching u up soon. You have defiantly shown me some brilliant techniques that i would never of thought of by myself and combining them with what i know already i find im getting good results. Can u tell me what u really think of proteinshakes
hey scooby i was wondering if taking a week of or so every 3 months from weight training is ok.....because i think i'm out for about that amount of time since i'm sick with the fever and everytime i cough i feel like my forehead is going to explode.....i've worked really hard for the past 7 months getting in shape and did a good job IMO, but all of a sudden i got sick. thanks for your support
Read up on "Rabbit starvation" or protein poisoning, WarriorOfSteel. It might be what you are experiencing or you just have too much fiber in your diet.
Well no, you don't have to watch what you eat 100% of the time. The way I do it is that for every 4 (healty) meals I eat, I eat a generous sized portion of mom's cooking ^^ but I don't go overboard with it. Also, it is a good idea if youre training for a marathon to train months before. Curiously enough, I happen to be training for a marathon myself, and hope to finish in the top 150 haha. Also remember to run on concrete, because if you run on grass and then switch, knee pain is likely 2 occur
hola Scooby! I love your videos. Do you think that you will ever make a video addressing the different body types (mesomorph, endomorph, ectomorph)? Catch you later.
Hey scooby wanted to say that i m really happy that i found your website, your very honest, humble and full of knowledge. I would like to ask if the advanced home workout is enough, or should i add more exercises. Thank you very much!
this is just me, amrheart69, but his advanced home workout in SO intense, you really don't have to add much......all I suggest is every two or three workouts, substitute several of the exercises with new and different ones, as well as utilizeing various techniques (i.e. supersets, forced negatives, dropsets, going heavy, etc...) to challenge your individual body....only you know your body, pay attention to how it reacts
I usually get DOMS only if i worked out a certain muscle group that i haven't worked out for several weeks. and what i do to ease the pain is use baby weights and hit the same muscle groups again immediately the day after and for the next few days until the pain disappears.
it doesn't remove the pain completely but it makes your DOMS days more bearable and i don't know how or why. i wish scooby can research on that
they dont mean muscle gain, they just mean not to give up mentally cause even though it hurts to push through something, you have to train your mind to fight through it, or else if you give up, doing it was almost meaningless
Finally you have some good advice people need to remember. Muscle pain post workout (DOMS) has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on how effective your workout was. It proves that you caused considerable microtrauma to your muscle, your connective tissues were not prepared for the type of exercise you did or the weight, or you had a significant lactic acid buildup. None of which mean your workout was necessarily productive.
all I would say, celconicuzn, is that my MOST intense workouts will always have the DOMS sideaffects.....but you are right, take it with a grain of salt, strenght gains/progress is the #1 indicater of whether or not your workouts are effective or not....DOMS is just a tool to gauge that
my question about training back. i'm quite a strong and sporty man. but my upper back is not straight. it looks like a wheel. and when i do specific movements with hands, the bones on the back, are looke like some wings. i know that i need to gain muscles on the back, especially on the upper back. so now i doing excersizes on rear delts. but the problem is, that i can't make my upper back straight, while i do the rear delts.
Awesome video, however i have a question for you about 2 'myths'.
1st) i often heard from many people that you MUST have something with protein in the first 30 minutes to 1 hour after exercise for max muscle growth (assuming proper nutrition later on)
2nd) Some who recommend me protein shakes instead of PB&J sandwiches, choco milk or beef jerky say its because protein from whey powder gets digested and dissolves into your blood faster than normal food protein (tied to #1)
well, honest4truth, not sure about question #1, but personally, the only time I drink a whey protein shake is after a workout, when my body is in major shortage of amino-acids.....obviously, a liqued meal is going to be digested faster then actual whole food will, basic reasoning will tell you that
i think i'm getting used to the advanced biceps wo infact i've noticed i'm recovering quicklier and the pain it's not so marked although i hit the weights hard with high intensity, the same think is for my other wo...i'm wondering what i could do..sometimes i add some sets...however maybe i'm still gaining muscle.
I love the bicep workout i found in your website...it gives me a great pump and appreciable results...
i am just getting back into muscle building and leaning up and your videos are very helpful and insightful. Can you talk about pre and post workout nutrition to optimize performance specifically? Also i was wondering about while working out how much, if any, water or liquids i should be consuming. Just wanted to know more about the nutritional details pre, post and during workout to maximize my lifting experience. thanks again for all your time in helping others get fit and eating right!
what I do, wsmith for pre workout nutrition, is eat a well ballenced meal with plenty of protein (Milk is great) and complex carbs (bannana, oatmeal, Kashi cereal.....1.5-2.5 hours before working out (for me, sustains a better energy level during my workout then just a shake)....post workout nutrition for me includes protein right away in a form that is easy to digest (protein shake, maybe 30-40 grams of protein) but don't get too carried away with it....SMALL PROTEIN FILLED MEALS ALL DAY LONG!
I have friends who are new to working out and gaining mass.
I will definitely show them this vid.
A very well done video indeed.

You might want to see your doctor about it and ask about any rehabilitative workouts you can do to help recover your elbow or something.
Having this kind of pain for months is definitely not good at all.

Hi Scooby. I'm a big fan of you. You are awesome. I'm a vegetarian. Can you suggest me some protein intakes which i can have? Does curd/milk/beans help?
haran3k 2 years ago
milk, cottage cheese, beans are great sources of protein but as for the dairy products, make sure you get the non fat brands. you could also use 100% natural dairy whey
michaelzwarszawy 2 years ago
that which does not kill you, can only make you stronger! lol, so i guess that dropping weights on your toes make you stronger. and the nutrition part is so true, you HAVE to have a complete diet including: light green, dark green, orange, starchy and other vegetables, and dont forget berries, tropical, forest and all kinds of fruit. and all that boushie stuff. but any ways i love this vid!
alantaecaswell 2 years ago
so... its better to work out hard... get sore, then continue lifting after the soreness is gone? please someone correct me.

I remember when I first began working my calves. Oh man! I could NOT walk on the treadmill at my normal pace for the next day few days. I had to cut the speed by a few numbers.
Talis29 2 years ago
LIfting weights doesnt ever get my calves sore but doing an hour run on sand when I havent done it in a few months sure gives me killer DOMS.

man....i had such a great week working out and now i have a fever. does anyone know how many calories one should consume and what to eat to speed up recovery? i'm trying to get down to 6% body fat but there's just no way i can do cardio with a high fever, plus i feel too weak. anyone got some advice?
michaelzwarszawy 2 years ago
I dont' know about these folks, but I'm 6ft 3.5in tall. When I see myself in a video I am sometimes amazed at how tall and thin I look.
When I used to do forearm exercises (I now go to a different gym that doesn't have the machine) it was to put some definition on my arms in addition to biceps.
It was also just for general strength; the machine that I used made use of your grip to work the forearm, so my grip strength increased while using it.
Talis29 2 years ago
Wow nice Video Quality. It looks like you got yourself a IMac for video editing. Keep up the good work and nice quality.
semeltheone 2 years ago
Nice video quality. Not to get too off topic, but what camera are you using for this one?
Talis29 2 years ago
My trusty $120 cannon powershot got destroyed by the train in my "How to read nutritional labels" video so I had to get a new one. I decided I wanted a better quality camera and the ability to do HD so I got a canon HF200. Its an amazing camera, more than I can afford though :(
scooby1961 2 years ago
Ah, well it takes a beautiful picture. I use an Aiptek GVS and it only wishes it could record video like this lol Good choice with the cam. Canon's a good company.
Sorry to hear about your camcorder's demise by train. :(

hey scooby i have good nutrition and im in good shape but what i wanna know is, does smoking weed effect my exercises in any way? does it slow me down or make me have less stamina or wat?
link390 2 years ago
smoking fucks ur body so badly u can't imagine u dumb ass
Demonzofwar17 2 years ago
Pot has two very negative effects for bodybuilders. The worst is the appetite enhancing effect which tends to make people eat the wrong kinds of foods - ones that promote fat and not muscle. The other problem is the mellowing effect. To make gains in strength and mass you need to get revved up and push yourself hard, like a strong cup of coffee will do. Pot dulls that drive.
scooby1961 2 years ago
wow, so ur like 48? u look 30, & u look like ur not a day over 27 when ur not wearing the hat,
i try 2 workout but i dont because lack of will power because i am lazy, damn these video games & tasty food that are making me fat
u have my respect, i know its tough but its worth it in the end
airsoft1214 2 years ago
hey man, i had the same problem and you know what my solution was? i threw out the video games. why? because i knew that new ones would come out, and i could wait until i got fit. and with the foods? i never bought them again. YOU MUST FORCE YOUR SELF, FIND SELF CONTROL AND GET IT WORKING! lol i hope this helped.

i just have a suggestion for ur website, specifically on the hotel workouts section. maybe you could come up with a list of resistance equipment alternative people could use if they have no access to dumbells.....im sure many people are going away to travel this summer and it would be helpful for them to bodybuild and stay fit anywhere they go.....thanks again for your incredible effort in ur vids

o and i feel weak if i dont eat a lot everyday .. i try to limit my food and i did but i feel like im getting weaker?? why??
sgundam66 2 years ago
It's possible you have a rapid metabolism, or in fact, may be hypoglycemic. If you get weak and/or dizzy if you don't eat at short intervals, I'd recommend seeing a doctor about it.
One thing to try, if you're trying to limit total intake, is to do as Scooby suggests. Eat 5 or 6 small meals throughout the day, rather than 3 big ones. This should keep your blood sugar up and provide lots of energy.
samurphy 2 years ago
You dont eat much and you feel weak? I'd see a doctor to help you figure out what is going on.
scooby1961 2 years ago
hey i have question.. i run usly fo like an hour and lift weight fo and hour but when i go home i just sit on the couch and chill fo like 5 hours..is that good or bad..
sgundam66 2 years ago
You need rest time. You don't build muscle in the gym, you build it while at rest after a workout. As long as you're not sitting on the couch and eating chips and drinking coke, you're fine. Train hard, rest hard.
samurphy 2 years ago
k thanks
sgundam66 2 years ago
Hey all, quick question.
One of my favorite exercises to do is flys. However, sometimes I can't do as much weight as I'd like (so sometimes I end up with 15-18 reps) because the inside of my forearm hurts (not a muscle being worked hard hurt, a I use the computer quite a bit hurt). Any suggestions?
jermicine 2 years ago
Hey jermicine, I'm afraid that falls under the "bad pain" category. I would stop flys and just do pressing exercises for chest. If you do flys, do lighter weights with higher reps if you can do that pain-free.

You may suffer from lordosis.
If it came with the training, you probably have been training some muscle groups too much and have caused a muscular imbalance. If it was there before, it developed during your childhood.
For more information search the net for lordosis and, of course, see a doctor!
Evilcyber 2 years ago
Hey Evilcyber, I didnt even know what lordosis was and had to look it up. Since I have a mild case of scoliosis you would think I would have known that one.
scooby1961 2 years ago
Well, as a kid my Mom feared that I might get lordosis because of my bad posture, so the op's description rung a bell. But I had to look up the actual term myself.
Evilcyber 2 years ago
At the end of the video we clearly see how much time you spend doing these videos and you have no financial expectation like most of other commercial beasts. But sometimes I read unfair comments sent to your videos by kids that weren't even born when you started doing bodybuilding. It's sad.Keep it up though and thanks. (Actually I'd been asking myself this question about pain for a while because I haven't felt any soreness in my shoulders and biceps for a while though I make progress.Thank you)
Stupdityrant 2 years ago 2
I really respect this guy......his info is WAY MORE veracious then 99% of the other crap out there.....people should stop being obnoxious and vexing and just say thanks for all the hard work/time he puts into his vids AND his website
packeralger 2 years ago
Well, your work out should be the same as for a vegetarian or omnivore - start with Scooby's beginner workout as outlined on his site under Workout Plans.
The real difference for you is of course your nutrition and specifically where you get your protein from. Check Scooby's site under Nutrition > Vegetarianism which despite its title also answers the questions vegan bodybuilders have.
Evilcyber 2 years ago
hey evilcyber....i was wondering if taking a week off from working out will hinder my progress.....i woke up with a bad fever today and obviously im not going to wokrout.....if i took a few days off would i lose muscle? and as for working out while on vacation.....would doing basic pushups or pullups with high reps and perfect form be enough to gain muscle.....please reply and thanks
michaelzwarszawy 2 years ago
Heah Michael, no worries, one week is nothing. Just make sure than when your fever is gone you take it easy the first couple of workouts. Even when the fever is gone the body is still not at full strength again.
For your 2nd question: Make your vacation workout part of your total plan. A couple of weeks before you go on vacation, go for low reps, high weight and on vacation do high reps, low weight (=bodyweight). Can't say if you'll gain, but you shouldn't lose any muscle.
Evilcyber 2 years ago
sweet thanks for the info....so does this mean that for a week i don't need to eat 1g of protein per lb body weight since i'm not lifting weights and recovering from the fever?

You have defiantly shown me some brilliant techniques that i would never of thought of by myself and combining them with what i know already i find im getting good results. Can u tell me what u really think of proteinshakes
MrSlipry 2 years ago
Protein shakes are fine now and then as a meal replacement. Typically of my seven meals, one or two will be protein shakes.
scooby1961 2 years ago
hey scooby i was wondering if taking a week of or so every 3 months from weight training is ok.....because i think i'm out for about that amount of time since i'm sick with the fever and everytime i cough i feel like my forehead is going to explode.....i've worked really hard for the past 7 months getting in shape and did a good job IMO, but all of a sudden i got sick. thanks for your support
michaelzwarszawy 2 years ago
if you eat 5 to 6 meals a day with mostly protein, is it normal to visit the toilet a "few" times a day? (serious question) lol
WarriorOfSteel 2 years ago 3
That's how I work. It's not very convenient, though ;)
RoccoDaOne 2 years ago
yeah i go to the toilet to piss at least 2-4 times a day and shit once a day in the morning thats healthy because means your metabolisms running fine
bishara1235 2 years ago
well in fact if u crap once every 2 days is healthy, most people go once every 2 days, but everyday or every second day is healthy.
guitarledgend1990 2 years ago
Read up on "Rabbit starvation" or protein poisoning, WarriorOfSteel. It might be what you are experiencing or you just have too much fiber in your diet.
YettiRAF 2 years ago
Well no, you don't have to watch what you eat 100% of the time. The way I do it is that for every 4 (healty) meals I eat, I eat a generous sized portion of mom's cooking ^^ but I don't go overboard with it. Also, it is a good idea if youre training for a marathon to train months before. Curiously enough, I happen to be training for a marathon myself, and hope to finish in the top 150 haha. Also remember to run on concrete, because if you run on grass and then switch, knee pain is likely 2 occur

Hey scooby wanted to say that i m really happy that i found your website, your very honest, humble and full of knowledge. I would like to ask if the advanced home workout is enough, or should i add more exercises. Thank you very much!
amrheart69 2 years ago
this is just me, amrheart69, but his advanced home workout in SO intense, you really don't have to add much......all I suggest is every two or three workouts, substitute several of the exercises with new and different ones, as well as utilizeing various techniques (i.e. supersets, forced negatives, dropsets, going heavy, etc...) to challenge your individual body....only you know your body, pay attention to how it reacts

realmofblood 2 years ago
I usually get DOMS only if i worked out a certain muscle group that i haven't worked out for several weeks. and what i do to ease the pain is use baby weights and hit the same muscle groups again immediately the day after and for the next few days until the pain disappears.
it doesn't remove the pain completely but it makes your DOMS days more bearable and i don't know how or why. i wish scooby can research on that

I try and work out every other day but D.O.M.S. holds me back and when I work out while sore it sucks. I guess I have 2 wait it out?? Great videos.
SinisterScreams 2 years ago
they dont mean muscle gain, they just mean not to give up mentally cause even though it hurts to push through something, you have to train your mind to fight through it, or else if you give up, doing it was almost meaningless
Go2b3d 2 years ago
Finally you have some good advice people need to remember. Muscle pain post workout (DOMS) has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on how effective your workout was. It proves that you caused considerable microtrauma to your muscle, your connective tissues were not prepared for the type of exercise you did or the weight, or you had a significant lactic acid buildup. None of which mean your workout was necessarily productive.
celconicuzn 2 years ago
all I would say, celconicuzn, is that my MOST intense workouts will always have the DOMS sideaffects.....but you are right, take it with a grain of salt, strenght gains/progress is the #1 indicater of whether or not your workouts are effective or not....DOMS is just a tool to gauge that

i have a few questions.
dkvh1 2 years ago
my question about training back. i'm quite a strong and sporty man. but my upper back is not straight. it looks like a wheel. and when i do specific movements with hands, the bones on the back, are looke like some wings. i know that i need to gain muscles on the back, especially on the upper back. so now i doing excersizes on rear delts. but the problem is, that i can't make my upper back straight, while i do the rear delts.
dkvh1 2 years ago
so my questions are: is that a problem? are my rear delts works anyway? what can i do to make my upper back be straight?
thank you for an answer. it's really important to me

abysstirent 2 years ago
Awesome video, however i have a question for you about 2 'myths'.
1st) i often heard from many people that you MUST have something with protein in the first 30 minutes to 1 hour after exercise for max muscle growth (assuming proper nutrition later on)
2nd) Some who recommend me protein shakes instead of PB&J sandwiches, choco milk or beef jerky say its because protein from whey powder gets digested and dissolves into your blood faster than normal food protein (tied to #1)
any truth in this ?
honest4truth 2 years ago
well, honest4truth, not sure about question #1, but personally, the only time I drink a whey protein shake is after a workout, when my body is in major shortage of amino-acids.....obviously, a liqued meal is going to be digested faster then actual whole food will, basic reasoning will tell you that

I love the bicep workout i found in your website...it gives me a great pump and appreciable results...
Lepomis8 2 years ago
i am just getting back into muscle building and leaning up and your videos are very helpful and insightful. Can you talk about pre and post workout nutrition to optimize performance specifically? Also i was wondering about while working out how much, if any, water or liquids i should be consuming. Just wanted to know more about the nutritional details pre, post and during workout to maximize my lifting experience. thanks again for all your time in helping others get fit and eating right!
wsmith79 2 years ago
what I do, wsmith for pre workout nutrition, is eat a well ballenced meal with plenty of protein (Milk is great) and complex carbs (bannana, oatmeal, Kashi cereal.....1.5-2.5 hours before working out (for me, sustains a better energy level during my workout then just a shake)....post workout nutrition for me includes protein right away in a form that is easy to digest (protein shake, maybe 30-40 grams of protein) but don't get too carried away with it....SMALL PROTEIN FILLED MEALS ALL DAY LONG!
