That is why in the end he extracts link's and zelda's triforce peices, and tries to gain a wish, for complete dominance.

He's so badass that even without power or wisdom, having a heart as equally as strong as the Triforce of Courage would allow him to prevail against evil regardless. Think about it. A powerful artifact applies an emotion to its wielder. Imagine if Link were as brave as that piece of the Triforce. He wouldn't need it to kick Ganondorf's ass ;)
