Where did you get him or have you always had him since the '80s. Wow, he works perfectly. I used to have a teddy ruxpin when I was a little kid but I threw mine out as I got bigger as I did with a lot of my toys once I stop playing with them and they were just sitting around my bedroom. My mom would get out the big trash bag and we go through my toys. what do you want to keep, what don't you play with anymore...in the trash it goes. I wish i kept some of my toys from the 80s.
i wonder if he could like move his mouth if other tapes were played, like if lets say slayers "reign in blood" we to be put in there, would ruxpin go ape shit crazy???
I'm wondering if the reason for the changing colours is because of the low light conditions, perhaps the reason is because the lack of light is playing absolute havoc with the camera's auto focus and exposure features.
How did you get your Teddy to be so quiet!? I have to cover mine up with pillows to keep the noise down, and that's on the lowest volume setting, too!!! Lol!
There could be several reasons for this, the first one that comes to my mind is the microphone on the camera isn't very sensitive, there could be other reasons as wel, the offset on the volume controls may also differ.

I tried playing a standard tape in my best friend's Teddy Ruxpin the other day, the tape played, but the eyes and mouth did not move as I expected.

why are there colored lights in this video?
Teddy and Grubby sound so pretty when they sing together. i downloaded this song, but it was in a different key. @.@
PS: Grubby's voice is pretty deep! 0.0 but he sounds so cute when he sings.^.^ and here, Teddy sounds like Piglet from Winnie the Pooh.
