Basic question:

my mouse has two axis. If I move the mouse while using a tool, what direction will my movements map to? in what plain will the cursor move? Will the cursor always grab the nearest object in the line from my position to the cursors?

I am having big problems learning this because it is like flying a fighter jet. the interface is beyond me and after a few hours i havent been able to do anything. someone needs to do a simple tutorial for absolute noobs because this software is amazing because of its capabilities and power and the fact that it is free is great. So does it actually hurt your computer to run blender too hard? I have a MacBook aluminum model before the 13" pro came out from late 08 or early 09 and it has a core 2 duo 2.4 Ghz 250 GB HD and 2 GB ram (but I'm upgrading to 4 GB) How do you think complicated things would run on my mac?

@bwillwall I dunno about rendering... My macbook that's I'm pretty sure the same year as yours would always overheat even when doing normal tasks like running XCode, etc., so I'm not sure if you should run a 3D modeling program on it.

@bwillwall Well... by overheating I meant get really hot to the point that I thought it was going to start shutting down. It's the aluminum model. I have a laptop cooler and that doesn't really work al that well, but I'd say try the 3D modeling if you have no other choice.

Heres the deal guys any time u have too many applications running while running a 3D modeling program it will severely slow your computer until it crashes. Anytime u start adding more detail than your computers graphics card can handle it will also crash. Even pro modelers with really powerfull computers have to watch they're iterations&such to make sure they don't overwork their computer But dont worry as long as u saved u will be able to rework ur objects, ur computer will be fine.

@TheBlueLake2 only if you have a really old laptop or you have more than two applications(sometimes less) other than blender. It's the same with any 3Dmodeling program :)

@TheBlueLake2 any applications mainly anything that plays music or video, although it should be fine to listen to music while you work just try not to be listening to music ,watch a video,work on an essay, check email, update facebook, and play video games at the same time. If your computer does crash, really you're pretty much safe just about the only thing that will happen is you will lose all the work you did and didnt save, the program will shut down and you'll need to start again. :)

ya, when u were starting to sculpt, and make the chin, right there was the perfect model to make it look like a PSX game! not a whole lot of complexity to it, just need to get the texture right and it would be fine
