  • OMG I hated this 41 years ago..........now I understand WHY I shave my sideburns. Who wants to look like Lon Chaney in "The Werewolf" or "Dr.Jeckyl & Mr.Hyde"?

  • Hacker below! :O

  • First single i ever bought. It might have been an EP with Have a whiff on me and milk cow blues. Wheres the time gone?

  • Just got a copy of this on a vinyl maxi single for 50p and was instantly transported to 1971. Marvellous.Happy music that makes you smile. Why can't people do this now?

  • I just love this

  • makes u want 2 turn the clock back 40 years ...cant belive its that old

    I must be 2 bollocks!

  • Heard this song on a compilation CD I just bought - had forgotton how much I like this song! Thanks for posting.

  • de ed ed ed de de my lady rose thanks men i have serching a long time now i founded it is great

  • the inside of the boat hull acts as an acoustic amplifier much like a megaphone. You just can't get this sound unless you're playin' from inside a boat. lol

  • honky tonkin cool

  • I luv it but how do they get those sounds from 3 men ina boat with 2 acoustics ?

  • The lead singer has a furry face!! Happy song. Thanks for posting.

  • Definitely. Youtube is like the greatest radio station ever invented. Take that "can't-skip-songs" Pandora!

  • scheiss geklatsche dauernd!

  • great stuff, huge air play, NE Arizona

  • What was this taped whit OMG OMG even my camera could tape better Sorry video quality = BAD :(!

  • @vladino8steaua If you showed your camera to someone in 1971 they'd think you'd just landed from Mars.

  • 11 people have to be shooted now!

  • einfach eine super musik die gute laune macht super

  • Herzliche Grüsse an Mungo Jerry in Bielefeld sendet DeutscherTheWoFan aus dem Sauerland. Great Great Happy Music !

  • Yes, CBAK, I'm well aware of Ray's heritage...yes and I do know he wrote Kelly Marie's only No1 and many more. I'm sorry I made a typograhical...you pedants will be the ruin of us. Englebert was actually christened Arnold, George Dorsey but I wouldn't expect you to know that because your need for accuracy obviously exceeds your joy of music

  • my mums name is Rose, and when my dad brought his boat he named it LADY ROSE : )))))

  • People too fuckin retarded to clap

  • i will never forget this song was in the summer of 71, just started my apprenticeship, kept hearing it on the site..great memories

  • Jerry Dorsey...one of the most underrated songwriter's of his generation. Novelty act or genius? You tell me.

  • @jollywigs Gerry Dorsey became Engelbert Humperdinck. You mean Ray Dorset, the main man in Mungo Jerry, who also wrote Feels Like I'm In Love, a UK no 1 for Kelly Marie.

  • forever...

  • 1971 -2011 - i will never forget this beautifull song

  • Another Mugo Jerry song Lady Rose. Brings back memories. I wish the music scene would take off like it did in the 70's. We need a revolution to make it happen.

  • bipyramid "I miss the 70's there were no peadophiles" Ok so what about Jonathon King (allegedly) Gary Glitter and the drummer from the Bay city rollers Derek Longmuir to name but 3!!!

  • @rockape629 We just didn't talk about it

  • Dimais mto linda linda linda, que recordaçao maravilhosa, que saudade dos meus bailinhos, parabenssssssss Mungo Jerry

  • thankyou mungo gerry and your like for great music in the seventies you were all classics

  • I miss the early 1970s: there were no peodophiles, drugs, everyone I knew watched Top of the Pops, I had buckets-loads of school friends. The future seemed bright. Then, an era came to an end when OPEC tripled or quadrupled the price of oil and it was economic gloom and financial crises from that time onwards.

  • The "dadn dee dee dees" are typically Mungo and not Bolanesque (from Marc Bolan). Bolan did steal this for his first T.Rex-hit "Ride a Swan" from Mungo Jerry.

The commercial worldwide succes of Ray Dorset´s (aka Mungo Jerry) "In The Summertime" was showing Marc Bolan how it is possible to go in the ear of the public. Mungo was first - and than T.Rex was following. Interesting: Ray and Marc had a very similar voice called "vibrato singing" - Ray a little bit deeper.

  • The great things about youtube is it brings together across the generations and you can see your parent's generation were once young not old fossils with more in common then you think

  • The most wonderful sideboards...do they give Nobel prizes for sideboards?

  • classic seventies

  • das goot burns yeah!

  • @mamahv - That sideburns are amazing, also the hair so afro...

  • das beschwingt....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great harmonizers very good

  • As a teen in the early 70's, i would buy each Mungo disc as they were released. Each disc had 4 tracks, and played at 33 1/3 rpm. Mostly uplifting 'Full of Life' songs i.e. "Mighty Man", "the Man Behind the Piano" (Hilarious !) . Lady Rose was issued as a single, the recording is different from the L.P. ! Love the Bolanesque 'DUD DEE DA DA'S' !!

  • I like this!!! I met him a few months back when I was playing at a festival.. Funny guy!

He is REALLY good at catching the audience!

  • @GinaMichaellsTV - Gina, do You know, Ray's parents ,

from where they are coming ? Because I like him very much and I am curious about

    every detail regarding Ray Dorset.

    Nadine.

  • @nadia1234ize think egland

  • @yunggunz50 - Thank You

  • Sideburns may look silly, but they will protect him when the cold days come

  • RAINBOW I

  • He looks a bit embarrassed on that little boat there. The sideboards hide his blushes. If things got worse and he fell in, they'd act as water wings to keep the eyes and nose above water. Like a Hippo.

  • Wow! Brings back memories!

  • I love this kind of son and remember my childhood here in Brazil I heard my father too! I liked it, very good! Douglas Grusca

  • Know how you feel, Raccoon.

Thank God for Youtube. The radio just plays the same few oldies over and over again.

  • Yeah, youtube is great because we get to choose what type of music to listen to and there are references to other things that you might like on it. I wish there was a Hi-def cable channel that was as democratic.

  • I wish I could go back there. Today has nothing to keep me here.

  • Be cool mate .

  • this song was banned by TOTP as the one of the other songs on the EP was 'have a whiff on me'

  • Why is that audience clapping dubbed in?

  • 2:17 may answer your question

  • has anybody the tabs fir this song ?

  • sereously ive been searching for the tabs too!

  • Tab lovers: this song is a simple three-chord trick. The key is B (B, C#, Eb, E, F#, Ab, A) and the chords are therefore B (I), E (IV) & F# (V). In the video, both 12-string guitars are capoed at the 4th fret, so the relative chord shapes would be 4 semi-tones down, i.e., G, C & D.

  • yeah, I see what your saying, it does a bit....

  • Sounds like Peggy Sue by Buddy Holly

  • wolverine?

  • WTF!!!! :D LOOOL

  • simplismente contagiante! Adoro esses caras

  • P.S. "Buggary Grips" That has got to be the funniest thing I've EVER read on YouTube!!!! I wonder if it's a popular phrase or one that veganpowernow has made up? Either way it really made me laugh....

  • It is a phrase I've heard it before.

  • I see where Blondie could have possibly/maybe/perhaps/ got the idea for Denis Denis from? Does anyone else see/hear what I mean?

  • Mungo Jerry! my favorite band. Great music thank you.

  • Ray is still playing.. :)

  • where are they now? are they still live

  • I am 50 years old and this is the first time I have ever heard of this song and I have to say it is most interesting. A very great carrying tune that maintains an upbeat melody throughout. Thats why I love youtube because you can hear old groups and find discoveries and treasures from yesteryear.

  • I cant believe you have never heard this song. Where have you been all those years?

  • You got to love the "CHOPS"

  • Aye I'm a great admirer of '70s fashions and those sideburns put the Wolverine to shame

  • Aye the Mutton Chop sideburns were all the rage in the early seventies, I grew a pair like that, and folk thought I was General Aldo from 'The Planet of The Apes'

  • Love it :)

  • Essa é a melhor do MJ. Muito legal essa canção que me faz lembrar dos anos 70. Abraços:CMB_PIRAJU_SP_BRASIL
